Daytime soap actor Peter Bergman has spent the majority of his career portraying the Abbott family patriarch, Jack Abbott, on The Young and the Restless.
During a recent appearance on The Talk, Bergman got emotional about what his time on the CBS soap has meant to him, especially regarding the friendships he has formed with his castmates. Here’s a look at Bergman’s emotional confessions.

Jason Thompson has been waiting more than a decade to finally win at the Daytime Emmys. Will this be his year? He’s nominated for Best Actor for playing Billy Abbott on “The Young and the Restless.” That character has already won Emmys for two other actors before him. In fact, if Thompson picks up the torch, it would be a historic feat since no character has won Best Actor for two different actors.
David Tom was the first Emmy-winning Billy. He claimed Best Younger Actor in 2000. He left the show in 2002, but a couple of recasts later Billy Miller stepped into the role in 2008 and became the most successful Billy at the Emmys. He earned five nominations and won three of them: Best Supporting Actor in 2010 and 2013, then Best Actor in 2014.

Soap Opera Digest reports that two “The Young and the Restless” alums are returning to Genoa City — again. Lauren Woodland and Kelly Kruger start taping again soon and will be around for an “indefinite” time. They recently came back to the show in March for the 45th anniversary of “Y&R,” and their next scenes are expected to start airing in June. Do you think they should stick around for good this time?
Woodland originally played Brittany Hodges on “Y&R” from 2000-2005. As a teenager Brittany dated Jt Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and then Billy Abbott before eventually marrying Raul Guittierez (David Lago). During her original run on the show she earned one Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Younger Actress in 2004, which she lost to Jennifer Finnigan (“The Bold and the Beautiful”). In her time away from Genoa City, Brittany became a lawyer, and that’s actually what Woodland has...

Kate Mansi won the Daytime Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in 2017 for playing Abigail Deveraux in “Days of Our Lives,” but that was after she had already left the show in 2016. The role was taken over later that year by Marci Miller, who is now pre-nominated for the first time for Best Actress. Can she pick up where Mansi left off?

Knowing that nothing freaks out a soap fan faster than hearing the words, “Today, the role of [insert character’s name here] will be played by [anyone but the actor who played the role yesterday],” we wouldn’t want to be Jason Thompson right about now.
Though he’s been immensely popular as General Hospital’s Patrick Drake, he’ll soon be joining The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott, the rich playboy whose previous portrayers include Daytime Emmy winners David Tom and Billy Miller (who, ironically, replaced Y&R’s Steve Burton as Gh’s Jason Morgan) and Burgess Jenkins.

Stay Tuned
Written by Tom. S. Parker, Jim Jennewain, and Richard Siegel
Directed by Peter Hyams
USA, 1992
In 2003 the world lost a true comedic treasure; a man so funny that he was dubbed “The greatest physical comedian on the planet” by actor Don Knotts. Knotts was referring to the late, great Mr. John Ritter. With a career spanning nearly four decades in film, TV, and the stage, Ritter was an extremely talented and likable actor. He gave the world many memorable performances, most notably in the delightfully zany sitcom Three’s Company and in the ridiculously warped Problem Child films. With so many roles on his resume, Ritter became a household name for audiences worldwide. He starred in many films over the years, some notable, some not so notable. One picture that slipped through the cracks was 1992’s fantasy/comedy Stay Tuned, a wacky adventure which saw Ritter as an unlikely hero.

It appears that reports of the death of the soap opera have been greatly exaggerated. At least, if this season’s numbers are any indication. Two years ago, the prognosis for the genre wasn’t looking good. Longtime soap operas “All My Children” and “One Life to Life” were yanked from the air by ABC. And a slew of new talk shows seemed poised to take their place. Also read: ‘Young and the Restless’ Brings David Tom Back After Billy Miller Exit But a curious thing is happening this season. Like a soap-opera character who suddenly re-appears, wide awake and ready for scandal after.

Attention, “The Young and the Restless” fans: There’s a new Billy Abbott in town. Or, rather, an old Billy Abbott. David Tom is returning to the CBS soap as Abbott, the role he created in 1999, following the departure of actor Billy Miller, who had most recently playing the part. Miller’s new contract negotiations broke down, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation. It's no real surprise that the splendid Billy Miller is out as Billy Abbott on CBS's The Young and the Restless. Reports have been circulating over the past few days that the Emmy-winning actor was in prickly talks to re-up his contract and, as many expected, no agreement could be reached. But whoda guessed things would end this way? In a startling move, execs at Y&R have decided to replace Miller with David Tom, who won raves in the role from 1999 to 2002 — widely considered the soap's last truly golden era. Like, Miller, Tom was awarded a Daytime Emmy for playing Billy.

An unexplained series of events occur on a Vegas tram; unexplained until the CSIs are on the case, that is. Nick (George Eads) returns from Hawaii after a seminar to find the joke's on him. The new boss, Db Russell (Ted Danson) lies on the tram floor and Nick thinks he's just a Db, which he is. Db by name, but not a real Db! Nick's reaction to his name, his initials is exactly what I thought when it was revealed who Ted was going to play in the show. Db as many know stands for 'dead body.' The others can only laugh and disappear. Nick isn't too happy to be the butt of their joke and he and Db don't really seem to hit it off - not like Nick and Ray (Laurence Fishburne). Two people were killed on the tram and three were injured. One Vic, Tom (Nathan Anderson) was stabbed.

In April, dozens of scripted shows will return to the broadcast networks. Thank goodness! Though I've already posted details on the returns of "The Office" (here and here) "30 Rock," "Ugly Betty" and "House," I thought I'd collect all the information I have in one place.
First, here's a chronological list of return dates (to see the return dates sorted by network, go here).
Second, for those who want more than just return dates, I've got details on what will happen on many shows, in addition to the ones mentioned above, on the second half of this item.
If you don’t spot a favorite show on either list, by the way, be aware that some programs aren’t returning until fall, and the fate of several others has not been officially announced yet. There's more info on what's returning in the fall here.
