Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola’s heartwrenching Handle with Care doc has been picked up by Peacock in the U.S.
Handle with Care, which debuted on ITV in the UK and is produced by TriForce Productions, sees Akingbola tell the story of his upbringing after he was adopted by parents of a different ethnicity to his own. He also meets others who have experienced the British care system, including the likes of Save Me star Lennie James and athlete Kriss Akabusi, in order to build up a picture.
The doc tells a “positive story” of growing up in care, Akingbola recently told Deadline.
He will be familiar to Peacock subscribers, having played Geoffrey the butler in the first two seasons of the NBCUniversal streamer’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot, which was recently renewed for a third series.

Exclusive: Jimmy Akingbola, who plays Geoffrey in Peacock’s Bel-Air remake, has opened up about making a “positive story about adoption” to help inspire Black children in care in the upcoming ITV documentary Handle with Care.
Previous shows about adoption have tended to focus on “mining trauma,” the Kate & Kojo, In the Long Run and Ted Lasso star told Deadline, and he wanted to “flip the script but without dismissing these other stories” in Handle with Care.

Aha! Steve Coogan's comic creation Alan Partridge has finally bounced back, cementing his Lazarus-like comeback with a best-selling autobiography, Sky Atlantic's Mid Morning Matters and the eagerly-awaited movie Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
To celebrate the return of one of Norfolk's North Norfolk's finest broadcasters we pick out 10 things you need to know about Alan Partridge.
1. Alan Gordon Partridge was born in 1955 to Dorothy Partridge at King's Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital. His arrival coincided with Anthony Eden being named Prime Minister and Chelsea securing the First Division title. Alan spent much of his childhood in Norwich, but freely admits to experiencing difficulties with his emotionally distant father. He was also the victim of school bullying by classmates, who frequently taunted him with cries of "Smelly Alan Fartridge".
2. Alan began his media career DJing on hospital radio before winning a job as a sports reporter for the BBC's current affairs programme The Day Today.

Mr Chips is back! The cheeky snake-charming, animated golden robot is back on primetime TV for the first time in over a decade this weekend, as ITV revives the classic gameshow Catchphrase.
Roy 'say what you see' Walker is out and Britain's Got More Talent's Stephen Mulhern steps into his hosting shoes, but other than that it's business as usual with the cheesy, fun-for-all-the-family quiz.
Bringing back cheesy TV gameshows is currently on trend for TV execs. Later this year, Keith Lemon will be reviving Through The Keyhole (!) and Sky brought back Blockbusters at the end of last year. But what other classic TV shows from the '80s and '90s do you think deserve a second chance? Here are five of our suggestions:

The latest Batman baddy reveals that the source of his most demonic creations is daytime television. Is it a surprise?
It all makes so much sense now. If you rewatch Tom Hardy's idiosyncratic turn as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises – the domineering personality, the love of violent confrontation, the terrible dress sense, the fondness of his own voice, all the bizarre "That's a lovely lovely voice" non-sequiturs – it becomes painfully apparent where the inspiration for such a monster could come from. Clearly, Tom Hardy is a massive daytime television fan.
That's not as silly as it sounds. This week, during an interview with Total Film, Hardy revealed that one of the primary influences for his role as Forrest Bondurant in the upcoming crime thriller Lawless was Come Dine with Me. "I watch Come Dine with Me!" he told the magazine. "I really do like Come Dine with Me.

Nikko’s target is to spot 500 different birds, at which point he plans to end it all in every sense of the phrase, and he’s already well into the 490s.

One of the greatest parts of writing up this Digital Spy Icon feature every week - aside from googling images of Grotbags and Kriss Akabusi - is being able to return once household names back into the limelight. We're fairly certain that a significant number of our readers are unaware of who Judi Spiers is. Unless you are from the Devon region or loved the much-missed BBC magazine show Pebble Mill, you may never have stumbled across her. However, those who do recall Spiers will only speak fondly of her as a broadcaster. Ok, so her stint at Radio 2 may have been a bit of a disaster and admittedly (more)...

There's a logic to making a film about the rivalry between Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett ahead of the Olympics, but surely the British athletic experience would be more accurately served on screen by telling the story of another sporting star?
You may not have heard, but the Olympics are coming to the UK in 2012. And, while we may not have the logistical ability or iron strength of will to perfectly synchronise thousands of drummers like the Chinese did during their opening ceremony, what we do have is a proud sporting tradition and the ability to sometimes make quite good films.
So it seems fitting that we should mark the Olympics by making a film about one of our greatest athletic achievements. That's why The Perfect Distance, Pat Butcher's 2005 book about the professional rivalry between Steve Ovett and Sebastian Coe, is set to be turned into a movie for 2012. It's...

In the early '90s, Kriss Akabusi was a shining beacon among the grimy showbiz celeb circuit. The Olympic 400m hurdler found fame after helping the UK take Gold at the 1991 Tokyo World Championships, going on to become a TV presenter (Record Breakers, The Big Breakfast) and regular on panel shows Through the Keyhole and You Bet!. Akabusi's manic enthusiasm for life, lunatic-esque "Alwigght!" catchphrase and gargantuan laugh endeared him to the nation. At the height of his fame he was even caught up in an infamous showbiz rumour about his voracious sexual appetite, (more)...
