After an exciting, often shocking run of episodes, the season 1 finale of X-Men '97 hits Disney+ next Wednesday, and (former) showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared some "homework" for fans who might want a cryptic hint about what to expect from "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3."
Spoilers for last week's episode and (potentially) Wednesday's instalment follow.
DeMayo posted an image from Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5, episode 18, "Cause and Effect." This episode of the beloved sci-fi series saw the crew of the Enterprise caught in a time-loop, with the ship being destroyed over and over again, and Picard, Riker, Data and co. having to figure out how to reset the anomaly.
Does this suggest that the X-Men will find themselves in a similar situation? "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2" certainly left the team in dire straits, with Jean Grey killed(?) by a Mr. Sinister-controlled Cable, and Wolverine's Adamantium...

In “Hollywood Con Queen,” director Chris Smith chronicles one of Hollywood’s most audacious scams that involved an impostor who posed as top entertainment studio executives to swindle aspiring artists. Based on the original reporting of entertainment journalist Scott Johnson, and his book, “Hollywood Con Queen: The Hunt for an Evil Genius,” the three-part Apple TV+ docuseries features first-hand accounts and insights from Johnson, private investigator Nicole Kotsianas, the alleged con artist, Hargobind Tahilramani, and his victims.
In 2018, it was revealed that an imposter was posing as a variety of well-known female Hollywood executives and their assistants in a bid to lure victims out to Indonesia with the promise of work. Tahilramani became something of a media sensation when it emerged he had been impersonating women such as former Sony chief Amy Pascal, Marvel Studios executive VP Victoria Alonso and Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, and NBCUniversal Studio Group chair and...

There's only two more episodes of X-Men '97 to go, and Marvel Studios has released a clip from tomorrow's penultimate season 1 chapter, "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2."
The preview finds our mutant heroes suiting-up in new costumes for their impending battle with Bastion and his forces.
The outfits are a mixture of the team's classic looks, and the costumes they wore in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men. The clip also sees Jubilee burn Roberto DaCosta's business card, so Sunspot must have decided not to join the fight.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo hinted at the costume change when he shared the unused pilot for Pryde of the X-Men earlier today.
DeMayo was also asked if he's ever heard any talk of adding Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat to the X-Men '97 roster.
"I haven’t, but my suspicion is Jubilee and Kitty slightly compete in terms of their age and Pov on the team.

"Magneto was right..."
Former X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has taken to social media to share a "homework assignment" for fans that may want a better idea of what to expect from the middle chapter in the three-part season finale, which airs on Disney+ next Wednesday.
DeMayo posted the cover to 1993's Uncanny X-Men #304, which marked the 30th anniversary celebration of the iconic mutant heroes, and the third chapter in the "Fatal Attractions" storyline.
Spoilers for Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1 and (possibly) Part 2 follow.
Though a few significant events occur in this issue that could inform the episode, we'd say it will most likely draw influence from Magneto's arc. Towards the end of Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1, Dr. Valerie Cooper frees Magnus from Bastion's prison, and the Master of Magnetism flies to one of the northern magnetic pole to manipulate Earth's magnetic field, using his powers to wipe...

Marvel Studios and Disney are planning to work on several new projects, even though they’ve said they will make fewer movies and shows after some of their recent ones didn’t do as well as hoped. Despite this, there’s a lot of excitement for a few upcoming projects, including the sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings.’
By December 2021, they began working on the next ‘Shang-Chi’ movie, with Cretton coming back to direct and write, and Liu expected to play Shang-Chi again. Liu wants to dive deeper into his character’s adventures with the Ten Rings and how he fits into the bigger Marvel universe. But by July 2023, Liu wasn’t sure when they would make the movie. He said it would come out after ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ which was moved to 2026 instead of 2025. He hoped to share more information soon.

Marvel Studios and Disney have quite a few projects lined up for development and production, despite the recent statements that they will lower the scope and output of their movies & shows due to somewhat undesirable results that their projects have gotten in the last several years. Still, there are quite a few projects that fans are certainly looking forward to and one of them is the sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings.’
By December 2021, development had started on a sequel to ‘Shang-Chi’ with director and writer Cretton and star Liu expected to return. Liu expressed interest in exploring his character’s journey with the ten rings and his place in the MCU. However, by July 2023, Liu was uncertain about the sequel’s production timeline, mentioning it was slated for release after ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ which had been postponed to 2026 from 2025. He expected that more details would emerge soon.

Professor Charles Xavier died in the 1997 series finale of “X-Men: The Animated Series.” As Jean Grey observed at the time, “Fate lies in our hands now.”

Other than the addition of some new voice actors, not much has changed since the mid-90s. (The original “X-Men” ran from 1992-1997; “X-Men ’97” picks up shortly after the O.G. finale’s events.) Cyclops (now voiced by Ray Chase; he was previously voiced by Norm Spencer) is the mutant-team’s leader, and Wolverine (still Cal Dodd) is still getting under his skin. The torch from Professor X...

It’s Saturday morning. You slept in just a tad, but you still get up early because the new episode of X-Men will be airing on Fox Kids. You get your bowl of cereal ready, turn on your tube television and hear that static as the screen fades in. Then, you hear that iconic theme song. Nostalgia is a hot commodity nowadays, but with animation, the team behind X-Men ’97 has the advantage of emulating the classic look of the original 90s cartoon. This was demonstrated by the viral video of a segment of Star Trek: The Next Generation being made into a cartoon in the style of the original Star Trek animated series. Disney has just released the trailer for X-Men ’97 and they hit you hard and fast with the nostalgia. The beginning of the trailer and teaser poster convey images of a child’s room in the...

For the first time in over 10 years, a new animated “X-Men” show has arrived.
The first trailer for Disney+’s “X-Men ’97” is here, and it continues the story from the classic ’90s cartoon, “X-Men: The Animated Series.” It begins streaming on Disney+ on March 20.
The beloved “X-Men: The Animated Series” ran from 1992-1997 for five seasons. “X-Men ’97” functions as essentially a sixth season for the show, picking up after the 1997 series finale, “Graduation Day,” in which Prof. Charles Xavier dies. The new trailer shows X-Men members Cyclops, Wolverine, Morph, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop and more pick up the pieces after Prof. X perishes.
“We have to say vigilant, the professor entrusted us with his dream,” Cyclops says to his team, as footage shows anti-mutant protests in the streets and a casket containing Prof. X lowered into the ground. The team battles giant Sentinel robots, and the final...

‘What If…?’ brought a breath of fresh air to the MCU. Despite the initial mixed reception of the first season, its success led to the approval of additional seasons, expanding the multiverse by drawing inspiration from various notable storylines. The unconventional release of Season 2 unfolded over nine days, with each episode serving as a special holiday gift for fans. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the development of the second season in December 2019; originally planned for 10 episodes, but due to Covid-19-related production delays, both seasons ultimately comprised nine episodes each.

‘What If…?’ was a breath of fresh air in the MCU; despite the first season of the show receiving a somewhat mixed reception from fans, it was successful enough to warrant additional seasons and expand the multiverse that the creators have been working on drawing loose inspiration from several notable storylines.
Season 2 was released in a somewhat unconventional manner over the course of nine days; a single episode was released, like a gift for fans to unwrap over the holiday season. In December 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the development of a second season for the animated series “What If…?,” consisting of 10 episodes. Due to Covid-19-related production delays during the first season, both the first and second seasons ended up having nine episodes each.

Tatiana Maslany, star of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, doesn’t think a second season of the Marvel series is going to happen.
During a recent interview, Maslany explained the reason as to why she thinks the Disney+ show will not be coming back.
“I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘No thanks,'” Maslany said during an appearance on Codenames Live! — The New Class on Twitch.
In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Maslany starred as Jennifer Walters, an attorney who specializes in superhuman-oriented legal cases. The nine-episode first season focused on Walters navigating her life as a single woman who is also a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk.
Guest appearances from the MCU in the first season included Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong, as well as Jameela Jamil, Josh Segarra, Ginger Gonzaga,...

Exclusive: After making all five episodes available on Tuesday, Marvel Studios’ Echo has premiered at No. 1 on both the Disney+ and Hulu platforms. The series marked several firsts for a Marvel show: the first TV-ma series developed at the studio, the first time every episode was available to subscribers at once and the first time a whole Marvel series has been available on both platforms at the same time.
It’s also the first show under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which the studio describes as a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity. While the studio hasn’t put out numbers, Echo is doing better than some of the consistently top-performing titles.

Let’s face it: from ‘Quantumania,’ to the Victoria Alonso and Jonathan Majors dramas, and “The Marvels,” Marvel Studios had a really bad 2023 (we went over their stressful year in much detail here). At the very least, they’ve ended 2023 on a very good note with “What If…?” season two, a series we gave some really top marks for for its mythical and archetypal writing.

At the risk of being hyperbolic, 2023 has been a pretty terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year for Marvel Studios. The Marvel Cinematic Universe suffered its biggest box office flop ever with "The Marvels"; the "Secret Invasion" series was the worst-reviewed MCU entry ever and drew middling viewership; and audiences mostly shrugged off "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," along with its attempts to tee up interest in the McU's Multiverse Saga. That's on top of all the bad buzz from reports about the House of Ideas' behind-the-scenes woes, the departure of longtime Marvel Studios executive Victoria Alonso, and the general opinion that Marvel Studios has released too much of questionable quality too quickly of late, even by its standards.
Naturally, however, all of this pales in importance compared to the Jonathan Majors situation. What was once set to be the "Lovecraft Country" and "Creed III" actor's big year came grinding...

Nia DaCosta survived the roller coaster of making “The Marvels,” but London’s rush hour traffic threatens to make her sick.
It’s late October, weeks from the Nov. 10 release of the $250 million superhero movie, and DaCosta is conducting a Zoom interview from the back seat of a car as it inches toward her home. “I apologize for the motion,” she says.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is making its return to the big screen once again as "The Marvels" is hitting theaters. This not only serves as a sequel to 2019's "Captain Marvel," but it's also building on Disney+ shows like "WandaVision" and "Ms. Marvel" with a pair of new heroes joining Carol Danvers to form a new super team. Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani are uniting with Brie Larson as Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, respectively. As the catchphrase goes: Higher, further, faster.
It should not be lost on MCU fans that this is the first new team we've been introduced to in some time. If we don't count the trio of Spider-Men at the end of "No Way Home," we would have to go back to "Eternals." That makes this an important film in Phase 5. But is it important enough to have a credits scene? That's what we're here to discuss!

Marvel Studios has released the final trailer for The Marvels just prior to its release in a few days. While the trailers prior to this one have emphasized the comedy and the dysfunctional dynamic between Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan, this final one emphasizes the drama of the looming threat on the universe. The trailer connects to the events of Avengers: Endgame as the clips imply that Thanos’ work will not go unfinished. It also calls back to the nostalgic days of Avengers with clips of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.
The official synopsis reads,
In Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary,...

Valkyrie first appeared in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Thompson would later reprise her role and make appearances in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

“The Marvels” final trailer has confirmed a super-cameo from Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.
The new footage debuted during ABC and ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast, and certified fan speculation that Thompson’s “Thor”-franchise hero would appear in the film, partially because she starred in “The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta’s critically acclaimed 2018 debut feature “Little Woods.”
The MCU’s latest movie, which hits U.S. theaters on Friday, stars three heroes — Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (Oscar winner Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). The trailer looks back at The Avengers’ war against Thanos — including the short team-up sequence where all the MCU’s super-women rally behind Captain Marvel — and sets up the stakes for the trio as they face a formidable new enemy, the Kree revolutionary Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton).

Marvel Studios’ Echo isn’t your normal Disney+ series. No, this series has some bite and doesn’t skimp on gritty, violent action scenes. At least, that’s the vibe laid down in the first official trailer for the comic-book-inspired series starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.
Cox was introduced in the role in 2021’s Hawkeye limited series starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin from Daredevil and Hawkeye in Echo, with the trailer confirming the series will trace his relationship with Maya.
The cast also includes Chaske Spencer (The English), Graham Greene (1883), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds), and Cody Lightning.
The event series is the first Marvel Studios show to receive a TV-ma rating. It’s also the first to drop simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu. And, it will mark the...
