"Unless you are vigilant, you will drown in fear." Adult Swim has debuted a trailer for an animated release titled Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, a feature film spin-off from the animated series called "Metalocalypse". Originally premiering on Adult Swim in 2006, it ran for four seasons with another special Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem (in 2013). The series was created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha, and this new movie is written & directed by Small. Can Nathan Explosion look beyond his brutally damaged ego to save his band, stop the Metalocalypse, and finally face the ultimate evil: Salacia? The movie stars the voices of Brendon Small, Tommy Blacha, Victor Brandt, Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner (Grammy Award-winning musician), King Diamond (King Diamond; Mercyful Fate), plus Mark Hamill, Kirk Hammett, Jon Hamm, Scott Ian (Anthrax), Amy Lee (Evanescence), Malcolm McDowell, Juliet Mills, Laraine Newman (SNL), and Livia Zita (2022 winner - Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Award). This looks gnarly!

For the first two installments in this series, I tried to dig apart some of the thematic issues at the heart of science-fiction horror films. But beyond Alien, the subgenre has such a poor reputation that most entries in it aren’t worthy of too much serious consideration. Few horror auteurs ever try their hand at sci-fi horror crossover, and when they do, the results are often mixed.
Unfortunately, the penultimate film from horror master John Carpenter, 2001’s Ghosts of Mars, falls into this second category. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t give it our attention; in fact, the film deserves a few words written about it simply because it’s so down-right bizarre. Basically, Ghosts of Mars is an outer space western set on a post-colonial Mars (actually a salt mine in New Mexico dyed with food coloring) in which wanted criminal Desolation Williams (Ice Cube, doing...

In honor of the impending Halloween holiday, Dr. Jimmy Terror from Dr. Terror’s Blog of Horrors stops by The Liberal Dead to assist in merrymaking and overall mischief.
More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead was recently released on October 18th. I’m sure you’ve been reading all about it, but for those of you who have not been sending out for more paramedics here’s the story thus far:
More Brains! A Return To The Living Dead is now available on DVD. It’s the ultimate account of the tongue-in-cheek, stylish and apocalyptic zombie movie. It features contributions from all the main cast as well as clips, photographs, storyboards, conceptual art, publicity materials, archival documents and behind-the-scenes footage.
Basically the best damn documentary you’re going to see all year. It’s this year’s Never Sleep Again (or at least that’s what I’ve...

As Fangoria celebrates it’s 30th Anniversary this year, some longtime friends of the magazine are celebrating their own anniversary. On May 12th, Megaforce Records will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Fistful Of Metal, the 1984 debut from Anthrax. Rock and Horror are a match made in heaven hell, and few bands have quite the association with the genre (and Fangoria) as Anthrax.
As the special-edition release of their first album approaches, and with their first studio album in six years, Worship Music (their first with vocalist Dan Nelson) due out this Fall, Fango caught up with members of the band to talk music, and of course, talk horror.
In the first part of Fangoria Musick’s exclusive interviews, James Zahn talks with Anthrax guitarist and lyricist Scott Ian.

Thrash-metallers Anthrax are considering changing the name of their band after the recent biological warfare scares in America. The rockers, who recently appeared on the soundtrack of John Carpenter's Ghosts Of Mars, have become more than a little uncomfortable since the disease after which they are named has become the country's number one fear. Lead singer Scott Ian says, "It's as though it's 1937 and I'm a bandleader named Freddie Hitler. Maybe we should change the name now. A friend suggested Basket of Puppies." Ian, who came up with the name 20 years ago in a high school biology class, continues, "People keep coming up to me and saying, 'Hey, wouldn't it be funny if you got anthrax?' I'm like, 'Oh, that would be hilarious.'" He's even stocked up on Cipro, the antidote for the germ, and adds, "I will not die an ironic death."...
