- Then a soldier Georges-Jean Arnaud published his first novel in 1952. Earlier that year Georges Arnaud (II) had published Le Salaire de la peur (Wages of Fear) so he had to take a pseudonym. Hence he wrote more than 400 novels under a dozen pseudonyms.
