Joan is an enforcer known for her ruthless tactics and wild, reckless lifestyle. After she is double crossed and left for dead, she becomes a vengeful spirit, wielding dark and mysterious powers. Can she use these abilities to take down those who wronged her without sacrificing her own soul?
Jamie Bernadette does her best to pave a new road for the title’s kill-crazy, hyper-sexed Joan. But like any good anti-hero, Joan isn’t all bad; she has a strong sense of loyalty to her underworld boss, Frank (David Carey Foster). The demented, yet strangely sweet, father/daughter dynamic between these two characters is one of the solid points to the film. Joan also has a knack for saving the helpless dregs of society, or at least not murdering them. She’s a good bad guy,...

The X-Men will return next year in Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix, but before that happens you can now relive the story of the past three movies with this new trailer for the release of the X-Men Beginnings Trilogy boxset.
Though the franchise began on the big screen back in 2000, the series got a new lease of life in 2011 when X-Men: First Class dived back into the past to explore how the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants were formed. Though the likes of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen cast long shadows, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and the rest of the cast successfully made the iconic roles their own and are apparently happy to keep on playing them indefinitely.
In the trailer above, arguably the five fan favourite mutants from the trilogy are highlighted. Clips from First Class take us back to Charles Xavier’s younger years as...

Fall TV is finally here, and so is a fresh batch of talent we can't get enough of. From Star Trek: Discovery to Young Sheldon, this year's freshman series are kicking it up a notch and allowing new faces to really shine.
Et is breaking down the nine breakout stars whose names you need to know this fall. Take note!
2017 Fall Preview: Et's Complete Coverage
Brandon Micheal Hall (The Mayor, ABC)

In ABC's new comedy, Hall plays an up-and-coming rapper, Courtney Rose, who runs for office as a way to drum up publicity for his music career -- and we have a feeling the premiere of The Mayor will do the same for its star. Hall, who only has a handful of credits to his name, the most recent being on TBS' Search Party, draws other parallels to his character: He's charismatic, magnetic and a complete breath of fresh air.

In 1961, director Mario Bava (Rabid Dogs, Kill Baby Kill) turned his hand to the historical adventure genre, capitalizing on the recent success of 1958’s Kirk Douglas vehicle The Vikings. The result was a colorful, swashbuckling epic of treachery, heroism and forbidden love: Erik the Conqueror. In 786 Ad, the invading Viking forces are repelled from the shores of England, leaving behind a young boy – Erik, son of the slain Viking king. Years later, Erik (George Ardisson, Juliet of the Spirits), raised by the English queen as her own, becomes Duke of Helford, while across the sea, his brother Eron (Cameron Mitchell, Blood and Black Lace) assumes leadership of the Viking horde and sets his sights on conquering England once again, setting the two estranged brothers on a collision course that will determine the fates of their respective kingdoms… Featuring a bombastic score by frequent collaborator Roberto Nicolosi (Black Sunday) and memorably...

Dick Wolf says there are no shortage of brutal murderers to populate future seasons of his new anthology series “Law & Order True Crime.”
Among the names he’s considering for future editions: Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, “Night Stalker” mass killer Richard Ramirez and “Son of Sam” serial killer David Berkowitz.
“This is endless if you get the right case,” he said. “There are a lot of things I’d like to examine for eight hours.”
But first up: Lyle and Erik Melendez, who were tried and sentenced for killing their parents in Beverly Hills. Now, NBC’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” will dredge the case back up to reveal new information that could change viewers’ minds about the verdict.
“I don’t care what attitude you have going into this. Your mind will receive info that I believe will change your attitudes,” executive producer Wolf said...

Bille August’s 1987 award winner is yet another full cinema meal, a deeply satisfying drama about working conditions among Scandinavian immigrants back when being poor was a life sentence. Max von Sydow’s performance is stunning, as an aging stock tender forced to begin again as a veritable serf. He and his good son Pelle are surrounded by little dramas dealing with injustices among the workers and servants, as well as between the landholders in the big farmhouse.

Later this month, the mighty Kong returns to the big screen! To celebrate, we’re looking back at all the major primate appearances in film.
For as long as films were being made, humans have starred alongside primates. Unlike other animals, their human-like qualities can lend a sense of comedy or horror. Throughout the history of film, primates have been used to fulfill certain roles. In the early days, they were often a form of antagonist, carrying out dastardly deeds or causing mayhem. More common is the primate cast in a role of mischief, causing all sorts of comedic hijincks. While most primate roles were portrayed by live animals, it was not uncommon for men to dress up in ape suits for roles where the primates needed to carry out specific actions. Later, the advent of CGI has led to men mimicking primates in real time to create a motion-capture performance.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' with Oscar Isaac in the supervillainous title role. 'X-Men: Apocalypse' review: Step back for series, but latest 'X-Men' movie 'works well enough' There's a three-way brawl going on in the Marvel universe, but it doesn't involve Spider-Man, Captain America, or Deadpool. Instead, the combatants are the three major movie studios who've divvied up the film rights to Marvel characters in licensing deals, some of which go back decades. In this corner we have Sony, makers of a Spider-Man series that has sunk so low since 2004's Spider-Man 2 that they punted the character back to our second combatant, Marvel Studios. In 2004, after years of seeing the majors compromise their intellectual property by making horrible film adaptations, they decided to finance and produce their own damn movies, in what would develop into an unprecedented winning streak. To this day, just when you think they're finally out of gas, Marvel...

The most representative scene in X-Men: Apocalypse is a pivotal battle towards the end of the film, when an overgrown, all-powerful mutant attempts to flatten another with the strength of his gigantic thumb. That, in a nutshell, is the story of the latest entry in the iconic franchise, helmed by Bryan Singer. Indeed, it is symbolic of the current state of the series itself. These movies have so set out to be bigger, louder, and grander with each new chapter, that they risk being crushed by their own weight. While I do not share the dislike that other critics have voiced for Apocalypse, it is fair to wonder whether this sequel represents a step backwards or forward for the films.
The movie opens with a scene reminiscent of The Mummy. An ancient, powerful creature gets close to achieving immortality but falls short, foiled by prescient humans. Fast-forward to 1983 and, in...

With spoilers, we delve into what we think is X-Men: Apocalypse’s most tense and effective moment to see why it works...
Nb: The following contains major spoilers for X-Men: Apocalypse and Days Of Future Past.
It’s one thing to stage an effective-looking car chase or shoot-out, but effectively fusing action with suspense, story and drama is quite another. You can always tell when an action sequence isn’t working dramatically in a movie; the bullets are flying, glass is breaking, bodies are falling but somehow the power of the moment doesn’t break through screen. Entire cities can be razed, but if we don’t connect with a movie’s characters and sense that the’re in genuine danger, all you’re left with is an exercise in visual effects.

The X-Men are about to meet their most formidable adversary yet, and to fight a mutant who is essentially a living god, they’re going to have to work together like never before. 10 years have passed since the events of Days of Future Past and our heroes are in very different places. While Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult) finally have their school for gifted youngsters open, welcoming and educating mutants who are just growing into their powers, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is clandestinely helping less fortunate mutants to fight back against human oppression, convinced that there will never truly be peace. And Erik Lensherr, the man also known as Magneto (Michael Fassbender) has opted for a quiet family existence in Poland. But all their lives change when the supremely powerful Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) awakens in 1983. Angered by what he views as a human society gone very wrong,...

Popular young actor Michael B. Jordan is getting a second chance to make a good impression on comic book fans. His next effort at portraying a character in a Marvel comic adaptation will be in the Black Panther.
As a life-long comic book fan, Michael B. Jordan was likely disappointed that his first entry into the realm of cinematic comic adaptations, the Fantastic Four, was a critical and box office bomb. Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, he’s getting a second chance because he’s just signed to appear in the planned McU version of the Black Panther, which will star Chadwick Boseman as the African King turned super hero. Boseman made his costumed debut in Captain America: Civil War to a very positive response.
Michael B. Jordan got critical acclaim for his performances in Fruitvale Station and Creed. This project would reunite him with Ryan Coogler, the man who directed both those films.

The tragedy of the X-Men films is that, despite being responsible for the current boom-industry of comic-book films, they have almost uniformly felt like second-tier properties within their genre. A lot of this can be chalked up to the aesthetic of the films themselves. As other superhero films grew more modern, with sleek effects and more dynamic costuming, the X-Men series has adhered to a more retro look, for good and for ill. The other factor in this also-ran status is, undeniably, a wildly variable quality in filmmaking and storytelling that has plagued the series from the outset.
For every Wolverine, there is an X-Men Origins: Wolverine. For every X2: X-Men United, there is an X-Men: The Last Stand. Each new film seems to exist in a vacuum, its quality worryingly untethered from any other film in the series. You might love X-Men: First Class or Days of Future Past,...

Bryan Singer’s getting downright playful these days. Continuity is a very weird thing in the X-Men universe. Since the year 2000, when Singer’s first X-Men was released, we’ve seen them flash forward and backward in time, recasting key roles, while also keeping some of the same cast intact, leading to a series that led my eight-year-old to tell me as we were walking across the 20th Century Fox lot on Friday night, “Daddy, the X-Men movies make my brain go crazy.” You could describe X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days Of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse as a trilogy, but I don’t think these film really work like that. At this point, each movie exists as its own thing, free to either embrace or discard everything that’s come before it depending on the story they’re telling. Each of the films feels like it’s resetting the entire series,...

.Synopsis: Worshiped as a god since the dawn of civilization, the immortal Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) becomes the first and most powerful mutant. Awakening after thousands of years, he recruits the disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and other mutants to create a new world order. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Professor X (James McAvoy) and Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) lead a team of young X-Men to stop their seemingly invincible nemesis from destroying mankind..
Let's start with some honesty from the heart. The last X-Men film (Days of Future Past/Dofp) was a step back from X-Men: First Class. You may not agree, but let's quickly go through a few things. Dofp started with a great action sequence (mostly in the future), then slowed to a snail's pace for a good hour and a half. In the comics, Magneto is the father of both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Now, obviously Wanda Maximoff is firmly under the Marvel Studios umbrella, but Fox does have access to both Pietro (Evan Peters) and his not so dear ol’ daddy (Michael Fassbender), and both will return for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Fans didn’t really expect this relationship to carry over into the movies, but during a scene from Days Of Future Past, Quicksilver strongly implies that Erik Lehnsherr is indeed his biological father. Some felt this may have been a throwaway nod to the comics and wouldn’t be brought back up again, but that’s exactly what happened in the most recent trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse.
In that scene, Pietro (or, Peter in this continuity) comes right out and tells Mystique that Magneto is his dad – but how will that dynamic affect both characters moving forward? In Mag’s case,...

In the past week we’ve had Civil War’s Final Tailer and Batman V Superman’s International Trailer, now it’s time for X-Men: Apocalypse to show more of its hand. Word has been pretty quiet on Bryan Singer’s Days Of Future Past follow-up, with the teaser released late last year and a TV Spot at the Superbowl the sum total of our footage. But now we have a full trailer, showing lots of new footage and giving us a better view of the plot.
A much better view of the plot. In fact, based on what’s here we know pretty much the entire plot of the film, including how the whole thing’s going to end. Trailer editors and their predictability, eh?

The Road to WrestleMania ran through Hershey, Pennsylvania Sunday night as the Superstars and Divas of World Wrestling Entertainment performed at an non-televised live event.
In a co-main event, Aj Styles challenged Kevin Owens for the WWE Intercontinental Championship while Kane and Big Show battled The Wyatt Family’s Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman in a Tornado Rules Hershey Street Fight. Yours truly was in attendance to witness those two bouts, as well as the rest of the action WWE unleashed on the Sweetest Place on Earth.
A show so close to WrestleMania, I could not wait to see what the reaction would be for some of the company’s biggest stars and the stories they would tell.
Needless to say, I was surprised by what I encountered.
What were the fans in attendance like? How were the performances of the men and women after a long weekend of work and travel?...

The X-men movie franchise is definitely one muddled beast. It started off pretty straight forward with X-men all the way through X-men: The Last Stand. Things get a little bit weird with X-men Origins: Wolverine, a film that is still technically canon, but is largely ignored in the grand scheme of things. The timeline gets more interesting with X-men: First Class. It's a period piece, and as such, logically takes place before any of the other X-men films (with the potential exception of X-men Origins: Wolverine, which takes place throughout time--but again, the less said about that film, the better). The Wolverine takes place after all the X-men films.
So while it's all over the place, it's not terribly confusing by this point. But then we have X-men: Days Of Future Past, a film that holds as both a sequel to X-men: The Last Stand, The Wolverine, and X-men: First Class,...

While visiting the set of "X-Men Apocalypse" and after a full day of shooting a scene where Apocalypse comes and recruits Angel with his three other horsemen, we find time to sit with director Bryan Singer in his trailer and pick his brain about what we just saw. This time around Bryan is shooting using a 3-D camera, has set this film in the 80's, and has introduced a new set of actors to play younger versions of our favorite characters.
The last scene that we have witnessed today deals with the special powers that pertain to Apocalypse. With the brush of his hands he can enhance your mutant powers as he does with Angel. Here is what Bryan had to say about his version of Apocalypse.

Latino Review was invited to the set of X-Men: Apocalypse this past July. While shooting in Montreal, Canada we were allowed to visit the set for two days. On the first day we were taken to what looked like an abandon warehouse which happens to be Angels hideout. This is the scene where Apocalypse comes to recruit him with his other three horsemen, Magneto, Storm and Psylocke. With this being the 4th film (if we put all X-men films in chronological order) it also serves as a conclusion to all six films.
It's also a very different take on the characters we have seen in prior films. X-men films always have an all star cast and are also known for their large ensemble. In the wake of the release of the "X-Men: Apocalypse" trailer the other day, lots more information about the film has come to light - mostly from its director Bryan Singer through various press outlets. Breaking down the trailer with Empire, Singer touched upon a number of topics. Here's a breakdown:
Apocalypse
Awoken from an extended slumber, the first mutant is keen on destroying and rebuilding a world that has effectively forgotten him. Thus his motivation is that he sees a world of free thought as one that's broken: "It bears no respect or devotion to him – that's the big giant ego of the old God. All of it lacks symmetry, order and devotion to him. It needs to be culled. It needs to be wiped away and rebuilt again."
The hiding of the character's face in all but two brief shots in the trailer was a deliberate choice: "I...

Here's a new poster for X-Men: Apocalypse, which shows Oscar Isaac's title villain gazing into the eyes of a skull while he's crushing it.
By now I'm sure you've seen the trailer that debuted this morning, and as much as I want to like it, I have to admit that this movie looks terrible. I really enjoyed Days of Future Past because of the way they blended the old and young versions of the main characters, but I don't know if they're going to be able to top that. The continuity in these films is blown to hell, and while the idea of Isaac as Apocalypse is great, the execution (at least as depicted in the trailer) has me questioning why they'd even want to get an excellent actor like him if That is what Apocalypse is going to be like. After sixteen films, Pixar might finally be facing one of its first misfires with Variety reporting that the recently released "The Good Dinosaur" is "shaping up to be Pixar's first box office failure."
With a production budget of $200 million and a further $150 million spent on marketing, analysts have indicated the film has to make $500 million at the global box-office to break even theatrically.
At present, the film has made just $131.3 million globally and is already fading faster than Pixar's other fare in the markets it has already opened in. Scoring soft reviews, it also opened to just $39.1 million in its initial weekend before dropping by more than 60% in its second weekend. Most Pixar's fall less than 50% in the same period.
Mkm Partners analyst Erik Handler says: "It's not resonating like a typical Pixar film. It's on a path where they're going to need home entertainment to drive profitability. Usually with Pixar,...

Thanks to producer Simon Kinberg, we have some more details regarding director Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. One piece of information you might be interested in know is that the first trailer for the film will be attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so we won’t have to wait much longer for that.
Singer completed production on X-Men: Apocalypse back in August, and he’s been deep in the post-production process since then. In an interview with Collider, Kinberg offered an update on the film's development, saying that he’s “super happy” with how the editing is going. He also reiterates that this next X-Men film will be the biggest one yet.
X-Men: Apocalypse serves as the finale of a trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class and it will also kick off a new era of X-Men films. Kinberg says:

Prolific writer-producer Simon Kinberg has been explaining his takes on his upcoming movies, Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse – including how they essentially represent 20th Century Fox’s first foray into the realms of shared cinematic universes. It raises an interesting question: What is the difference between a film series spinoff, such as The Wolverine, and an honest-to-goodness shared cinematic universe? The answer, it seems, is to be found in the beginning.
First, we had X-Men in 2000, and that kick-started a whole series of movies that spanned time periods and featured many, many comic book characters. Then, in 2009, along came X-Men Origins: Wolverine – and there lies the difference. Wolverine’s movies began as specific off-shoots from the main series. Deadpool – though the titular character appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine – is very much its own thing. Kinberg confirmed to Collider, however, that the film necessarily retains its X-Men links, despite being an entity unto itself.

An ancient mutant will attack the 1980s in 2016's new X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse. Here's our look ahead...
If the double-bill disappointment of X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine couldn’t kill the X-Men franchise, nothing can. Now that X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days Of Future Past have got the series back on track, there’s no stopping Fox’s mutant movies.
Standalone adventures for Deadpool, Gambit and (again) Wolverine are all underway, and there’s even talk of a TV series and slowed-down-a-bit rumours of an X-Force movie.
However, there’s one upcoming X-film that promises a bigger scale, a more dastardly villain and the biggest collection of dodgy haircuts than any of the rest. That film would be X-Men: Apocalypse.
This one’s the next team-based instalment, and it will focus on the recast protagonists introduced in First Class, picking up after their adventure in Days Of Future Past.

Wilkin Brattle has trouble sleeping. A former warrior knight, Brattle (played by newcomer Lee Jones) barely survived a deadly battle. Thought dead, he was abandoned by Baron Erik Ventris (Brian F. O’Byrne) and Chamberlain Milus Corbett (Stephen Moyer), lest Brattle be taken back and celebrated as a “slain hero.” Wilkin retreats to a small farming village, where he may have nightmares, but he wakes to a lovely pregnant blonde, Petra (Elen Rhys), who speaks in flowery verse about their heir. Thus begins Kurt Sutter’s new FX drama, The Bastard Executioner. In this moment, it’s hard not to think about Sons of Anarchy, the series that Bastard creator Kurt Sutter wrapped up last fall. The tormented male protagonist with long flowing hair who is trying to abandon a life of violence and the impending fatherhood that gives him new purpose seems familiar. The comparisons to Soa could be...

17. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Tony Stark confronts General Thunderbolt Ross
Tony Stark's hypercool presence is a welcome one - and it's neat that Ross's drink is Gamma green - but Marvel never followed up on this tag in future films and eventually had to make a special short to explain it. Incidentally, William Hurt will be back for Captain America: Civil War next year, where hopefully he won't punch any plot holes into the script.
