Call My Agent(Netflix, 6 Episodes)
Directed by Shaad Ali
This adorable adaptation of the 2015 French series is the picture-perfect post-pandemic panacea with a heart that beats and loins that throb. It is everything that an adaptation should be: respectful to the original but not slavishly so.
Slave reminds of Ali Fazal who in one of the sexy sextet of episodes plays a medieval slave to Richa Chadha. For a film being directed by Hussain Dalal. Now , hear this. According to the script, Rich and Ali have broken up and must now perform a ferocious love-making scene for the camera. Ha ha ha.
The series is littered with such luscious inhouse jokes about Bollywood, like Tigmanshu Dhulia making a film called Paiydashi Killer co-starring Lilette Dubey and Ila Arun who, according to the script, can’t stand one another. The two actresses just kill it in the catfights. Nandita Das lets...

Actress Shruti Haasan has opened up on the divorce of her parents, actor-politician Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika. The couple parted ways in 2004. In an interview, Shruti revealed why she was glad that her parents separated.
"I was glad they separated as I do not think two people who are not getting along, should be forced to get along for some reason. They continue to be wonderful parents. I am particularly close to my dad. My mum is doing well and is a part of our lives as well. It actually panned out for the best," Shruti told Zoom Digital.
The actress further told the portal, "When they separated, I was very young, and it was very simple, they were happier apart than they were together."
Kamal Haasan and Sarika tied the knot in 1988 and parted ways in 2004. Apart from Shruti, the couple are also parents to actress Akshara Haasan.

Mee Raqsam
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Danish Hussain, Aditi Subedi
Written and Directed by Baba Azmi
In the idyllic village of Mijwan there lives a Muslim girl whose heart beats for the Bharat Natyam dance form. Bharat Natyam??!!! Her family and the village community are aghast. Yeh to kafiron ka kaam hai. How can a decent 15-year old do….this!! Shame!!!
I loved the twinkle-eyed irreverence embedded in debutant director Baba Azmi heartwarming nugget. Brimming over with affection warmth and humour Mee Raqsam takes a tender and evocative look at the risky task of cultural crossovers in India , without any political agenda.
When the films’s bright intelligent protagonist Mariam takes to Bharat Natyam her favoured mood is neither green nor saffron. Writer-director Baba Azmi portrays Mariam’s relationship with her father (Danish Hussain) with the same indelible affection that one saw between Ashok Kumar and his screen-daughter Sarika in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Aashirwaad.

Thanks to the magic of streaming entertainment, A.P. Bio got a second lease on life.
After spending two funny, yet ratings challenged years on NBC, the sitcom was canceled. Then Comcast announced the creation of an all-encompassing NBCUniversal streaming service called Peacock. And that colorful bird was hungry for content, leading to the renewal of A.P. Bio for a third season.
Now A.P. Bio season 3 is set to premiere its eight episodes on Peacock on Sept. 3. And what better way to celebrate A.P. Bio’s impending return than to gather together all of its characters’ disembodied heads? Don’t worry – it’s not as gruesome as it sounds. Peacock has exclusively provided Den of Geek with four colorful posters from A.P. Bio’s third season featuring the characters as pencil toppers. Flix FlashbackIn #WatchWithTNM, we write about Kamal Haasan-Crazy Mohan's 'Panchatanthiram' and why it was the crown jewel in their shared repertoire Priyanka Thirumurthy"Everything about the film was joyous. Despite the turmoil in my personal life, the film always brought a smile to my face. It was just the balm I needed to keep me calm." These were the words of actor Kamal Haasan in June 2002, the year his movie Panchatanthiram released and brought the people of Tamil Nadu to literal tears, as they were assaulted by one joke after another, all timeless in their nature. [Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “A.P. Bio” Season 1 up to, but not including, the finale.]
There’s a scene in “A.P. Bio,” NBC’s delightful freshman sitcom, that’s as pivotal to the series’ improbable success as it is easy to overlook entirely. In Episode 11, “Eight Pigs and a Rat,” Jack (Glenn Howerton) is forced into doing the one thing he’s refused to do: teach biology. With the principal and superintendent visiting his class and a student who wants him fired pressing Jack to perform, the former Harvard professor has to lead a pig dissection in front of the entire class. The problem? Jack taught philosophy in the Ivy Leagues, not bio.
At first, he brings up Heather (Allisyn Ashley Arm), who works at a butcher shop with her dad, as a student assistant to do the job for him. But when Sarika (Aparna Brielle) tries to expose Jack by asking for an explanation in “standard scientific biological terms,” he hesitates. He’s in trouble — or so it seems.

He has confirmed this in a recent interview. Kamal told Mumbai Mirror, “Shah Rukh only got a wristwatch for acting in my film at the time because, by the end of it, I had nothing left in hand. Now, he is the brand ambassador for a watch brand. I am glad that he got the Hindi rights of Hey Ram from Bharat bhai (co-producer Bharat Shah). He should have some memory of the film as he gave his friendship and service for it.” Hey Ram, which was released in the year 2000, starred Kamal Haasan as Saket Ram Iyengar (Hindi) / Saketharaman Iyengar (Tamil) and Shah Rukh Khan as Amjad Ali Khan. The film also had a bevy of stars in the cast including Hema Malini, Rani Mukhrejee, Girish Karnad, Om Puri, Abbhas, Vasundhara Das, etc. Hassan's daughter, Shruti Hassan, was also a part of this film though that might come as a surprise to many. It was exactly a decade ago when Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika came together for Rahul Dholakia’s Parzania [2007]. The tragic tale had the veteran actors pair up as a grieving couple as their child goes missing. Now 10 years down the line, it is their respective children who have grown up and are now being seen together as a pair in Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana. This time around too, there is a child involved in the tale, though the peg is that of an unborn, and not a missing child.
“It is as uncanny as it gets,” comments our source, “Who would have thought that the family members would come together again on screen with a child in the middle of the affairs? Of course, Parzania was a serious tragic affair whereas Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana is a feel-good family entertainer. Still, it is some coincidence to...

Baar Baar Dekho
Starring Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra

What if we get the chance to rectify all the big mistakes of our life? And what if a magical wand—or a pundit’s jigerypokery—takes us into the future to personally witness all those critical twists and turns on the road journey of life where we may swerve into the wrong lane? Debutant director Nitya Mehra’s Baar Baar Dekho is unlike any romantic yarn—I hesitate from giving it that loosely-used term the ‘rom-com’. It is the ultimate what-if saga, narrated with a tender care and subdued splendor that make every moment between the lead pair precious and gladdening.

If all had gone well Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika would have been seen together four years ago in a film called Shoebite, a.k.a Johnny Walker. Due to a production dispute, Shoebite got shelved. It was Shoojit Sircar's ardent wish to bring this untried pair together. Shoojit finally got a chance to do so in the serial Yudh of which he is the creative supervisor. Insiders insist that when a screen wife was being considered for Amitabh Bachchan, names like Deepti Naval and Nafisa Ali came up. It was Shoojit who insisted on Sarika doing the role. Says a source, "It was Shoojit Sircar who convinced Sarika to do the show. He is the creative consultant over the project." Shoojit says more than him it is Amitabh Bachchan who supervised the proceedings during the shooting of Yudh. "Mr Bachchan's years of experience came in handy for all of us.

When Bollywood actresses come together for a film, they often spark rumours of catfights. But looks like the contemporary actresses are in a much secured place and they have been lending a helping hand to their co-actresses. Shruti Haasan, who is a popular actress down South and in Bollywood, has lend her voice for a romantic song in the upcoming film Tevar starring Sonakshi Sinha.
In the recent trend of many actresses turning singers for their films (Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt), Shruti Haasan, however, is not a part of the cast in the film but has only sung a song. The music directed Sajid-Wajid believe that Shruti has a fresh voice which suited the mood of the song and hence had decided to rope in the actress to sing. On the other hand, we hear that Sonakshi Sinha had no qualms over this decision and was rather happy about Shruti being a part of it.

On the other hand, we hear that Sonakshi Sinha had no qualms over this decision and was rather happy about Shruti being a part of it.

Film: "Club 60"; Cast: Farooque Sheikh, Sarika, Raghubir Yadav, Satish Shah, Tinu Anand, Sharad Saxenaa and Vineet Kumar; Writer-Director: Sanjay Tripathi; Rating: **** - brings feelings back into movies.
When was the last time a movie moved you anywhere except out of the theatre in a hurry to get home? "Club 60" is that modern day rarity that brings the soul back to our cinema.
A story of aging and despair dappled by dashes of warmth and humour, "Club 60" is embellished with endearing imperfections - jaunty editing which only adds to its humane appeal. The film has so much love and warmth to give, it breaks your heart to.

It's final. Kamal Haasan and Sarika's younger daughter Akshara Haasan who has studied music and filmmaking is also bitten by the acting bug. Both her parents felt Akshara was more cut out for being behind the camera. And since the elder daughter Shruti was already an actress, Akshara's filmmaking potential would have nicely rounded off the family's creative ambit. "But parents can't make up their children's minds. Not now-a-days at least. Kamalji and Sarikaji thought Akshara was more interested in direction. Sarika put her on to her friend Rahul Dholakia with whom she has worked in Parzania and Society. Akshara assisted Rahul Dholakia and the whole family thought she was heading towards a career in filmmaking. But then Balki spotted Akshara. He offered her a role in his new film. And Akshara took the plunge," says a friend of Kamal Haasan's family. Interestingly, Akshara is paired with Dhanush in Balki's film.

That 2012 began with an overwrought hyper-melodramatic brutal and tumultuous remake of Agneepath and ended with Yash Chopra’s muted mellow all-heart-no-malice ode to romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan seems indicative of the direction that Bollywood seems headed for. The journey, as we can see, is unpredictable and largely exciting. Looking back, some films of 2012 that fetched hype-star ratings seem bloated and over-eager to please either critics or the masses, but never both. Luckily the films that were truly meritorious did get a place under the swoon.

Last week just before Kamal Haasan flew out of Chennai to Los Angeles to supervise the sound-mixing for his new film Vishwaroop, his arch-rival Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush arranged a very special screening of the much-awaited Tamil-Hindi film. It was important for Dhanush for Kamal Haasan to watch the film, not only because it's a crucial release for Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruti, but also because Dhanush wanted tips on improving the quality of the product.
