Martin Scorsese reunites with longtime muses Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in the first trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the upcoming Western epic based on David Grann’s 2017 best-selling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.” Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the drama focuses on a series of Osage Nation murders over oil rights and the newly-formed FBI’s investigation into the killings. The supporting cast includes Jesse Plemons and “Certain Women” breakout Lily Gladstone.
For DiCaprio and De Niro, “Flower Moon” marks the first time the Oscar winners have worked together in a feature since Michael Caton-Jones’ 1993 drama “This Boy’s Life.” Both actors played fictionalized versions of themselves in Scorsese’s short film “The Audition.” De Niro earned Oscar nominations for best actor by starring in Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver,” “Cape Fear” and “Raging Bull,” winning for the latter.

Oscar season may have wrapped for the calendar year 2022, but Best Actor winner Brendan Fraser is still enjoying the fruits of his recent career labors. On Thursday evening, “The Whale” winner appeared at the Greenwich International Film Festival’s inaugural Inspiration Talk and award ceremony in Stamford, Connecticut where he was honored with the Giff Inspiration Award “designed to honor artists who inspire others through their craft or philanthropic endeavors.”
As People reports, during a wide-ranging chat with broadcast journalist Hannah Storm, Fraser was characteristically open about what’s next. So, post-Oscars win, what does the Canadian actor have on the horizon? “At the moment, I don’t have anything — I’m really being picky right now,” Fraser said.
After a grueling (and often emotional) Oscar season spent stumping for Darren Aronofsky’s heart-wrenching drama and speaking candidly about his own personal connection to the material, Fraser has certainly earned a little respite.

“I look at it as a sonic conversation,” declares composer Kathryn Bostic on how a good score adds emotional depth and dimension to a series of film by shifting between light and shade. For our recent webchat about her haunting and heartfelt score for ABC’s “Women of the Movement,” she adds, “just like when you’re talking, there are times when they’re more intense, or the inflections are more noticeable, and then there’s times of silence, and it’s a back and forth exchange with those moments.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Gary Basaraba has a busy few months ahead. The Irishman alum is reuniting with Martin Scorsese on the Scorsese-directed Apple Original Films thriller Flowers of the Killer Moon, the adaptation of David Grann’s book, in a supporting role. Basaraba also has booked a key role on ABC’s limited series Women of the Movement.
Set in 1920s Oklahoma, Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro, depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.

In ABC’s limited series Women of the Movement, Basaraba portrays Sheriff Clarence Strider, the sheriff of Tallahatchie County Mississippi and a wealthy plantation owner.

Apple has unveiled the first official photo from Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Western epic “Killers of the Flower Moon.” The first look image features Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone as Ernest and Mollie Burkhart. Ernest is the son of a powerful local rancher, played in the movie by Robert De Niro. “Flower Moon” is based on David Grann’s non-fiction book and tracks the investigation of serial murders that plagued the Osage Nation during the 1920s after valuable oil was discovered on their land.
As IndieWire reported last month, Scorsese kicked off filming “Killers of the Flower Moon” on April 19 in Oklahoma. Cameras were originally set to begin rolling on the movie in March 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic delayed production indefinitely. The film is the latest collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, who appeared in “The Aviator,” “Gangs of New York,” “Shutter Island,” “The Departed,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino reunite — and it looks like they’ve shed years off their faces in the first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s CG-enhanced mob movie “The Irishman.”
Netflix’s true-crime story, which will open this fall’s New York Film Festival, stars De Niro as a World War II veteran turned mafia hitman named Frank Sheeran. Pacino plays Jimmy Hoffa, the former president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters who went missing in 1975. Hoffa’s body was never found and his fate was speculated about for decades.
The trailer suggests a decade-spanning saga of organized crime in post-wwii America that covers Hoffa’s rise as leader of the Teamsters, Sheeran’s participation in hits for the Bufalino crime family as well as the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for director Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated Netflix film The Irishman. Scorsese reunited with Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, and also managed to bring Joe Pesci out of retirement for this new gangster film. They are joined by Al Pacino, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, Ray Romano, Stephen Graham, Kathrine Narducci, Gary Basaraba, J.C. Mackenzie and Craig Vincent.
Unfortunately, there’s no footage from the film in this trailer. but you do get to hear the voices of some of the actors and a bullet shell casing flying through the air.

Legend has it that the Coen Brothers penned this dark satire back in the 1980s, around the time of Blood Simple. So it’s interesting the extent to which Suburbicon feels like a product of our time – that is, a reflection of Us anxieties about race, immigration and social cohesion.
The film’s title refers to a fictional, yet depressingly plausible, 1950s experiment: a 60,000-strong utopian community comprised purely of white people, content and complacent behind a bulwark of quaint picket fences. (The faux promo which opens the film is like something out of a Fallout game.) We join the story at the moment when the first African-American family, the Myers, moves into the neighbourhood.
Suburbicon rapidly descends into criminality. But it’s nothing to do with the Myers.

Strap yourself in for another trek in the cinema “way-back” machine at your local multiplex. And for once it’s not a “biopic” or a story “inspired by true events” like Marshall or Breathe. Yes, it’s pure fiction but it is set firmly in the real world. The movies have often viewed the 1950’s through the “rose-tinted” lens of nostalgia, as if yearning for that simpler, more innocent time. TVeven joined in with its long running hit “Happy Days” (that 70’s show now has its own nostalgic glow, as seen in the recent Kingsmen: The Golden Circle). Sure, they were indeed happy days…if you were part of the right social class, religion or race. . That’s the view of this new film, no surprise since it sprang from the minds of Joel and Ethan, the Coen brothers. But they’re not behind the camera on this project (supposedly...

On paper, few 2017 releases should be safer Academy Award plays than Suburbicon. After all, it has George Clooney behind the camera, the Coen Brothers co-writing, as well as Matt Damon and Julianne Moore in starring roles. Throw in a supporting turn from Oscar Isaac and the ingredients are all there for something irresistible. And yet, this is one of the year’s more disappointing films. It opens in theaters this week and will hope to reverse the at best mixed buzz that has followed the flick on the fall festival circuit. There’s ambition on display here, though unfortunately it just never comes together in a satisfying way. A period piece satire, set in the utopian style community of Suburbicon, we see two events shape the entire community. One is the arrival of the first African American family into the town, while the other is a home invasion. The Meyers...

Anna Paquin is the latest actor to join the cast of Martin Scorsese's highly anticipated Netflix film The Irishman. Paquin, who is best known for her roles in X-men and True Blood, will play the daughter of Robert De Niro’s character, Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, who is a reputed hitman suspected of being involved with the disappearance of Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa in 1975.
Deadline offers some details on the character, saying:
Paquin will play Peggy, the strong-willed daughter of Frank and Mary. She despises the lifestyle Frank has chosen for himself and over the years begins to distance herself from her father, hating everything about him. At times, Peggy lives in fear of Frank, worried to tell him about the problems in her life for fear of what he might do to the people that have wronged her. Catching up on a Trailer debut from a few days ago here (we also got a Teaser for mother! yesterday, but there’s a full Trailer coming next week we’ll tackle). This one today is the major Oscar hopeful Suburbicon, coming to us as the latest directorial outing from George Clooney. Not only is Clooney teamed up with his partner Grant Heslov for this one, he also is working off of a script that the Coen Brothers once penned with an eye towards directing. You’ll be able to see this Trailer below, but first, you know the drill here…some discussion is in order. The film is a pitch black crime comedy of sorts. So far, the description for it is simply that a home invasion rattles a quiet family town. The town is the town of Suburbicon, and Gardner (Matt Damon) is a father and husband drawn...

A review of tonight's "The Leftovers" coming up just as soon as there's a bird loose in the lobby... "Are you fucking serious?" -Kevin There once was an HBO Sunday drama that ended one episode with its main character on the verge of death, and opened the next with him suddenly in a hotel, in circumstances far from what we know of him, going by a different name — Kevin, in fact — and having the damndest time trying to get home, no matter what he tried. Whether Tony Soprano was in the afterlife, an alternate reality, or simply dreaming while lying comatose in the hospital, his adventures as Kevin Finnerty proved particularly divisive among that show's fans: some saw this as of a piece with all the dream sequences, flashbacks, and other stylistic departures employed in the past; others stubbornly clung to the belief that they were watching a straightforward mob drama,...

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched this week’s episode of Justified, “Raw Deal” written by VJ Boyd and directed by Bill Johnson, stop reading now. As he’ll do throughout the season, showrunner Graham Yost takes us inside the writers room.
Entertainment Weekly: Let’s start with Art putting Raylan on walk-in duty. In the end, Raylan was pissed enough to tell Art that he’s taking a vacation and when he gets back Art will either treat him like a deputy again or transfer him.
Graham Yost: We were just like, how are we going to kick off this story?...

The article below contains spoilers for "Collaborators," the April 14th, 2013 episode of "Mad Men." "You let Don talk, you should know better -- the guy's not a salesman," Herb Rennet (Gary Basaraba) barked at Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) toward the end of last night's episode, after Jaguar shot down his plan to shift their campaign focus from a national to a local level. Herb's wrong -- Don (Jon Hamm), we know, is an incredible salesman, he just wasn't interested in selling Herb's idea to the auto executives, both because he disagreed with it and because he loathes the guy. Herb, the smarmy dealer manager for Jaguar, was last seen in season five's "The Other Woman," in which he initiated the brutal negotiations in which Joan (Christina Hendricks) slept with him in exchange for Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce getting the coveted account. It wasn't a plan Don supported, and he struck back...

"The Collaborators" featured one moment "Mad Men" fans have been waiting six seasons for: Trudy (Alison Brie) finally had a reason to confront Pete (Vincent Kartheiser) about his cheating ways. And in typical "Mad Men" fashion, the confrontation wasn't about hurt feelings but about wounded pride.
Trudy knew Pete was cheating -- of course she did, she let him have the apartment -- but he crossed a line sleeping with a neighbor (ace guest star Collette Wolfe as Brenda) and now he has to pay the price. She doesn't want a divorce, but she doesn't want him around either. He'll be sleeping in the city unless Trudy demands otherwise and that's that.
We also got a follow-up to last season's indecent proposal storyline with the return of slimy Jaguar executive Herb Rennet (Gary Basaraba) and fleshed out a bit more about Don's past when his stepmother Abigail (Brynn Horrocks) "took...

One Magic Christmas
Directed by Phillip Borsos
Written by Phillip Borsos, Barry Healey, Thomas Meehan
Starring Mary Steenburgen, Harry Dean Stanton, Elisabeth Harnois, Gary Basaraba
I suppose it’s perfectly fitting that religion became a topic of discussion on our most recent episode, seeing as the movie we were discussing was set at Christmas, one of the most religious times of year. I alluded to this on the podcast, but I was not raised in any kind of religious setting. If secularism has become the prevailing attitude during the 21st-century holiday season, as is so often espoused by hand-wringing media pundits, it sprang forth from homes like the one I grew up in. Like Mike’s mom, my mother was raised Catholic and taught by nuns. She grew up in the working-class suburbs of Buffalo, New York, one of six children living under the rule of two strict, God-fearing parents.

Columbia released 1st 2011 'Smurfs' full theatrical movie trailer. Columbia Pictures released the first, full theatrical movie trailer (below) for their upcoming comedy/adventure flick "The Smurfs." This movie looks pretty odd to me because it appears that they've mixed the smurfs in with the real world, and I don't recall the smurfs being any sort of a comedy. However, they've appeared to make it one. Anyhow, it stars: Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria, Anton Yelchin, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, John Oliver, Kenan Thompson, B.J. Novak, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Basaraba, and Tim Gunn.
