Law & Order may be returning for Season 24 on NBC, but one of its most familiar faces will be gone.
Camryn Manheim’s three-season run on the procedural will end on May 16 with the Law & Order Season 23 finale.
It’s unclear at this point whether Manheim is walking away from the show of her own volition or if she becomes another casualty of the mass exodus plaguing Dick Wolf’s long-running procedural dramas across the broadcast TV landscape.
Manheim was a large part of the revival’s success and has emerged as a fan favorite in the role of Lt. Kate Dixon.
“I had the most incredible experience being a part of the Law & Order Universe, and more importantly the Wolfpack,” the actress shared in an Instagram statement.
“I’m so thankful for the three wonderful seasons that I spent with this wildly talented cast of merry pranksters.”

No matter how you slice it, five hundred episodes is a big deal.
Law & Order: Svu hit it last year, albeit with a controversial episode that angered many survivors.
Now it was Law & Order Season 23 Episode 12's turn. They marked their 500th episode with a story that, ironically enough, seemed more suited for Svu but otherwise seemed like a typical episode. Was it special enough for the 500th?
Law & Order Doesn't Do Tribute Episodes
When Sam Waterson exited the series on Law & Order Season 23 Episode 5, it was a strong story that was still disappointing because it didn't contain any flashbacks or other tributes to his iconic character. The same thing happened here.
That's the way it has to be to an extent. It would be off-brand to have an episode that's more tribute than original story. Still, there should have been something more to the story than...

Slamdance Founder on Why It Was Time to Leave Park City — and Why Sundance Had Nothing to Do with It
This January’s Slamdance Film Festival — Park City, Utah’s other film festival that, for nearly 30 years, shared the mountain town and an early winter date with Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival — enjoyed record attendance, up 18 percent from 2023. And yet, even with that high watermark, their 30th anniversary ahead of them, and Sundance contemplating leaving for greener pastures, Slamdance is packing it up and moving West.
Slamdance 2025 will call West Hollywood, California its new home — permanently — and the festival that for years lived in Sundance’s shadow will now try and make it on its own.
If you ask Peter Baxter, the founder of Slamdance and its president, it was just time to move on from Park City. The news of the festival’s relocation came as a surprise earlier this week, but it’s something they’ve considered for the past several years. And, unlike Sundance, which has...

Law & Order has been one of NBC's flagship programs for 23 years despite a ten-year hiatus, but is the formula that made it famous outdated now?
The original series pioneered the idea of "ripped from the headlines" stories and a format dedicating half of each episode to the police investigation and the other half to the arrestee's trial. This proved to be so popular that it spawned a ton of sequels and spinoffs.
Law & Order: Svu is the most successful, having just been renewed for a 26th season. However, Svu doesn't follow the format of its parent show most of the time, often dedicating 90% or more of the hour to the police investigation -- should its parent series follow suit?
Law & Order's heyday in the 1990s involved it becoming synonymous with the late, great Jerry Orbach. Orbach's character, Lennie Briscoe, became famous for cracking...

When Disney purchased the 20th Century Fox library in 2019, it caused some consternation among cineastes. The Fox catalog was vast and impressive, containing tons of indelible classics and even more titles waiting deep inside the studio's archive. 20th Century Fox was formed in 1935 and quickly became one of the "big five" studios that dominated the film industry for decades. Fox hadn't seen a shake-up this dramatic since 1985 when ultra-conservative media mogul Rubert Murdoch bought a controlling share of the company from Marvin Davis.
When Disney made its purchase, many film fans wondered if Fox's old classics would be made more widely available through the about-to-launch Disney+. When the streaming service debuted with a paltry 500 titles, cineastes were aghast. Why buy all those Fox titles if you're not going to distribute them?
That, however, was merely the end of the road for Fox. For its 83-year life, the studio went through many massive,...

Sam Waterson's departure from Law & Order left a hole that'll be hard to fill. Waterson played Jack McCoy for 30 years, making his name synonymous with the long-running police/lawyer procedural.
Someone had to take his place, and Tony Goldwyn is not only an accomplished actor in his own right but has appeared within the Law & Order universe before. (Goldwyn played Frank Goren on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.)
Goldwyn's Nicholas Baxter has only had a few episodes to shine in. He's a different type of district attorney than McCoy, so his character will take some getting used to, but the change in direction could be precisely what Law & Order Season 23 needs.
McCoy was often soft-spoken, though he could get loud when he was passionately angry and mostly stayed in his office. Baxter differentiated himself from the get-go; his first scene involved inserting himself into a crime scene and introducing himself.

Former talk show host Kathie Lee Gifford is one name thrown around as Golden Bachelorette. She reveals why she won’t do the show. Keep reading for all the details.
Kathie Lee Gifford Reveals Why She Won’t Do Golden Bachelorette
Who will be the first Golden Bachelorette is a question that’s on everyone’s mind. ABC announced in February that the first-ever Golden Bachelorette will air this fall after the widely popular inaugural Golden Bachelor broke ratings records in 2023. Traditionally, the network would choose one of Gerry Turner’s contestants to lead the spinoff.
However, names beyond the franchise have come up in social media conversations, including soap star Susan Lucci and entrepreneur Martha Stewart. Today Show host Hoda Kotb nominated friend and former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford for the role.
According to Kathie Lee Gifford, Bachelor producers did reach out to her, but she turned them down.

Three weeks after Law & Order bid farewell to Sam Waterston, the NBC procedural on Thursday introduced Tony Goldwyn as the newest District Attorney.
Usually, the legal part of the drama doesn’t happen until later in the episode, but Goldwyn’s Nicholas Baxter joined the action at the top of the hour as Detectives Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Vincent Riley (Reid Scott) are investigating the bludgeoning death of multi-millionaire Jonah Barlowe.

The battle between creationism and science has been long-standing. Some believe God created humans, while others argue that humans created God—a theme explored by countless writers and philosophers. Yet, conclusions on this matter often rely solely on speculation. As someone with an aversion to creationism, I find myself contemplating that the creation of God might be part of an inevitable cycle. To delve deeper into this notion, it seems that in our fragile civilization, the tendency to create a god and immortalize it comes as a distraction from hopelessness and the fear of death.
I also believe that, originally, the fear of death was supposed to humble us. It was supposed to teach us humility and remind us that death spares no one. But then we created the idea of an afterlife, rebirth, and whatnot, nullifying the significance of death in the process. As we gradually realized our ability...

Actress Emma Stone has made waves this year with her Oscar-nominated performance in the dark comedy Poor Things. The actress was universally lauded for her performance as Bella Baxter in the period comedy which also starred Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, and Ramy Youssef. The film was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who collaborated with Stone again after The Favorite.
Emma Stone has been nominated thrice before, winning Best Actress once for La La Land. This time, Stone shares the nominations with actresses such as Lily Gladstone, Sandra Huller, Carey Mulligan, and Annette Bening. Despite her worldwide stardom, the Easy A star is reportedly not the richest actress in the nominations. That post reportedly goes to veteran actress Annette Bening, who is nominated for her role in Nyad.

Meet Nicholas Baxter, played by actor-director Tony Goldwyn, who succeeds Sam Waterston’s über-ethical Jack McCoy as Manhattan district attorney in Law & Order. Goldwyn, a self-admitted fan, shares what to expect. Congratulations on becoming Law & Order’s new Da! You’re back in politics after playing the U.S. president on Scandal. There has been a lot of bad box office news to go around in the first couple of months of 2024. That said, today brings a welcome little nugget, as Searchlight Pictures' "Poor Things" has officially crossed a pretty significant milestone. The film, which stars Oscar-winner Emma Stone ("La La Land") and was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos ("The Favourite"), has officially topped $100 million worldwide. That makes it one of the most successful Best Picture nominees, financially speaking, heading into Oscar night, which is a good sign for the future. It's also good for the present, so it's good all around.
"Poor Things" has now amassed $32.4 million domestically to go with $69.8 million internationally for a grand total of $102.2 million worldwide. Against a $35 million budget, that makes this a sizable hit and one that has benefited greatly in recent weeks from its several Oscar nominations, most notably that for Best Picture. When the...

The biggest night for British film proved to be a major one for Christopher Nolan. After reigniting the summer box office alongside Barbie, his atomic bomb biopic Oppenheimer led the way at the BAFTAs 2024, earning seven awards on the night – including the most hotly-contested categories.
