- Ben Benedetti has worked as a freelance producer and studio executive in the entertainment industry for twenty-eight years. His extensive network of treasured relationships and practical experience makes him a great asset to the organizations he works for. He has the wisdom, foresight, and resources to find new ways of stimulating creative expression, avoiding critical pitfalls, supporting production teams, while invigorating revenues and opportunity. He has achieved great success in all phases of his career in post production and content services.
Benedetti received a bachelors degree in Fine Art and Design from the esteemed California Institute of the Arts in 1992. Shortly thereafter Benedetti broke into the entertainment industry working as Ted Danson's personal assistant on the hit TV show "Cheers." When Danson started his own production company at Paramount Studios called Anasazi Productions, Benedetti was hired as an assistant to the development team, headed by his father, the Emmy-winning producer, Robert Benedetti. Eventually, Ben began working as a production assistant and then as a post production supervisor on the award-winning films and specials produced by Anasazi through 1995.
In late 1995, Benedetti was hired as Associate Producer of CBS's hit drama, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman", and remained there until the show left the airwaves. Benedetti was responsible for the creative, financial, and technical integrity of every episode produced. He gained invaluable experience supervising every final color session, sound mix, and directing all ADR/Looping sessions working directly with the lead and supporting actors in the cast.
After Dr. Quinn, Benedetti worked as a consultant at the Disney Channel for Gary Marsh and Susette Hsiung, in the Original Programming department. He was responsible for the implementation of a strategic plan for the development of a new department able to administer and manage the post production of dozens of independently produced tele-films simultaneously. To this day the department thrives using much of the work flows and post production bible that Ben co-authored.
In 1999, Benedetti assumed the role of Vice President of Sales and Client Services for Digital Symphony at Ascent Media, one of the leading suppliers of production equipment specializing in non-linear computer editing systems, camera package rentals, remote HD digital dailies viewing systems, and Digital Cinema Preview/Screening services. Eventually his responsibilities were expanded to represent the complete spectrum of post production services that Ascent Media offered including Sound Editorial, Re-recording Audio Mixing, Telecine, Video Finishing, Visual Effects, and Digital Intermediates.
In 2008 Benedetti briefly moved to Modern VideoFilm in Burbank as Vice President, Sales and Business Development. At the beginning of 2010, Benedetti took on working for Sony Pictures Entertainment as a member of the executive management team for the studio's Post Production Facilities providing complete post production packages and work flows for both feature and television clientele. He directly administrated the award winning TV Sound Editorial department as well working as a sales representative for Sony's Digital Picture Editorial, Post Media Center, Colorworks, and Sony Pictures Sound Facility.
In 2014 he moved to become the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Westwind Media. Benedetti's unique skill set and decades of loyal relationships in the entertainment industry made him ideal for the role as both the facility's administrator as well as marketing and client service specialist. Under Benedetti's leadership, Westwind's visibility in the industry and subsequent revenues increased dramatically.
In the spring of 2019, Benedetti was hired in his present role as the General Manager to oversee the design, buildout, and construction of Periscope Post & Audio's new post production facility in Hollywood, while being responsible for all day-to-day operations and administration of the company. He oversees all facets of the facility's operations from engineering, human resources, payroll, accounting, scheduling, sales, forecasts, client services and union compliance, all the while maintaining strict compliance with local county and CDC requirements for COVID-19 (Benedetti is also a certified Covid-19 Compliance Officer).
The Periscope facility embraces a complete services approach, providing all-in packaging at the highest levels of quality and talent. To accomplish this Benedetti developed, built and maintains a supportive culture and environment where talent and storytellers can thrive.
Utilizing the most advanced technology and engineering, Benedetti directly supervised the design and construction of three certified Dolby VISION color bays, three Dolby ATMOS mix stages, all with remote playback and review capabilities. The building also includes 40 cutting rooms and production offices, 4k dailies lab, as well as two kitchens, lobbies, and all the necessary resources and common areas to support all client services. The company has successfully serviced many high-end television, streaming, and feature projects.
Periscope Post and Audio is the Midwest's premiere full service professional post production studio. They service the film, television, music, advertising, video game industries including major projects from networks, studios, major labels and brands.
