We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew — most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births,...

Hey, "Blue Bloods" fans. Unfortunately, it's one of those times again where we have to inform you that your favorite show is about to take a small hiatus. However, this one won't last for too long, especially since we're close to the end of season 9. So, here's the deal. We have been informed that the next, new episode 20 will not be airing next Friday night, April 19,2019. No, no, no. Instead, CBS has scheduled it to air on Friday night, April 26, 2019 in its same 9pm central standard time slot. So, be sure to mark that very important date down on your TV show calendars. We don't have an exact reason for why they're doing this. We just know that they are. We're guessing it probably has something to do with scheduling. CBS probably wants the season finale to land on a certain night in May 2019. So, they're skipping a week to make sure that happens.

Can a long-unsolved case still have a positive outcome?
Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) got an answer in "Open Secrets," Friday's (Feb. 28) episode of CBS' "Blue Bloods" written by executive producer Ian Biederman and directed by TV veteran Eric Laneuville.
Danny and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) were called to a school from which a youngster named Jenna had disappeared, a crossing guard telling them she'd seen the girl atypically get into a car rather than walk home. The situation brought back troubling memories for Danny, who'd failed to locate a missing girl named Allie years earlier and still was visited regularly by her father Joseph (guest star Patrick Breen), who continued to maintain hope she'd be found.
Erin (Bridget Moynahan) was handling the potential prosecution of Diana Del Rio (guest star Caroline Strong), who claimed she had a bipolar condition that caused her to fatally run over her building's superintendent. The defendant's lawyer,...

Death was plentiful in the Reagans' cases on Friday's INov. 8) episode of CBS' "Blue Bloods," as signaled by the title of the story: "Drawing Dead," written by Ian Biederman, one of the show's executive producers.
Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) looked into the murder of a "Wall Street guy" in Tribeca, with no struggle and no theft indicated. Subsequent interrogation revealed the victim had argued with his partners over wanting to bring in an art dealer, someone inexperienced in stockbroking.
Meanwhile, Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray) responded to a call of shots being fired, leading to a street pursuit of three suspects. As the cops captured two, Jamie heard another shot fired and ran to its location -- where he found Officer James Montero (Elliot Villar) kneeling over a wounded teen, with an angry mob yelling accusations on the order of, 'That cop shot him in the back!

Doctor Who show runner Steven Moffat commented on the lack of gay content on the show saying, "It's the one criticism I've ever listened to." James Franco on General Hospital: "I do have plans to do other stuff with them." He's just not sure when he can fit it in. Felicity Huffman got Desperate Housewives role for unusual reason. The Playboy Club will be more 'fun' than racy, an executive says.

NBC's "The Playboy Club" has yet to premiere (tune in Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m.) and it's already causing controversy. A Salt Lake City NBC affiliate is refusing to air the series, and the Parents Television Council is urging other affiliates to keep the show off the air as well.
At the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Monday, the showrunners and stars of the series quite literally faced their critics. Addressing the affiliate issue, executive producer Chad Hodge says, "That is certainly their right to air or not air the show; we're just excited that another network in Salt Lake City has picked up the show."
The theme of the day was whether or not the series, which is set in the 1960s at the Chicago Playboy Club, degrades or empowers women. The bunnies in the series certainly have their various secrets, and there are certainly "dirty dealings" happening at the club,...

Comparisons between NBC's The Playboy Club, the new 1960s-set series that takes place at the first Playboy Club in Chicago, and Mad Men were perhaps inevitable, but the producers and cast of the period drama were on hand at the fall TV previews on Monday to downplay any similarities. "The comparison to Mad Men ends at the era," executive producer Ian Biederman said. "This is a much different show with a much different energy."
Parents Television Council calls for NBC affiliates to drop The Playboy Club

Ray Richmond is contributing to Deadline's coverage of TCA. NBC decided to kick off its two-day TCA soirée this morning with a bang by rolling out the cast and producers of its forthcoming period drama The Playboy Club that Joel McHale described earlier as "Mad Men with boobs." That satirical assessment of the hour set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in the 1960s was disputed by exec producer Ian Biederman, who described it instead as a drama that "intends to show characters in a certain time and a certain place trying to become something." The cast and producers also spoke to the show's dedication to female strength and empowerment, rather than exploitation. But as NBC and the producers are all too aware, Playboy Club is already a lightning rod for controversy. The NBC station in Salt Lake City already has announced it won't carry the show, and the...

The Playboy Club isn’t too raunchy for broadcast — and it isn’t Mad Men.
That’s the message NBC’s entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt conveyed at the TV critics press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday as reporters asked about the upcoming series, which has been under fire by watchdog group like the Parents Television Council.
“What it has going for it is a recognizable brand that’s automatically going to draw attention to it, good or bad,” Greenblatt said. “It’s a really fun soap with a crime element and I think it’s the right kind of thing for us to try.

Update: Word is that NBC may be done with its drama pickups, though there is no official confirmation on that and no calls have been made yet to the producers of the hourlong pilots that have not gotten a pickup yet, including Stephen Gaghan's Metro, David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman and Michael Patrick King's A Mann's World. Previous: NBC just kicked off its second day of pickups with orders to Kyle Killen's Inception-style Awake (form. Rem) and Chad Hodge's 1960s The Playboy Club. Both hail from 20th Century Fox TV (Playboy in a co-production with Imagine TV) and have been widely expected to get the nod. Playboy has already zeroed in on a showrunner, Shark creator Ian Biederman. NBC seems to be going studio by studio, starting off with Ums' Whitney, Up All Night, Prime Suspect and Smash yesterday, now adding 20th TV's Awake and Playboy.

Did you feel the shaking?
A genuine California earthquake rocked the film and TV production world last week, with the Golden State finally offering a competitive package of tax breaks for in-state shoots. The question now is whether the move will signal a seismic shift in the incentives landscape, especially at a time when budget turmoil in such places as New York and Florida have left industry players wondering whether their lucrative perks will be renewed.
"My phone has not stopped ringing," says Amy Lemisch of the California Film Commission. "People who are in the midst of deciding where they are going to shoot, and have places like Michigan and New Mexico on their list, are stopping in their tracks. This is exactly what we wanted to happen. You will see an almost immediate increase in shooting in the state."

In one fell swoop, Fox has ordered most of its pilot slate this development cycle.

Strike Zone: Latest on WGA talks
UPDATED: 12:15 p.m. Nov. 5, 2007
The WGA rolled out pickets on two coasts Monday, after Sunday's last-ditch bargaining session failed to mark sufficient progress to prevent the first Hollywood writers strike in 19 years.
In the Los Angeles area, the WGA West's well-rehearsed strike captains marched out troops to populate picket lines at 14 studio and network sites starting at 9 a.m.
Fox
"The Simpsons" executive producer James L. Brooks, a strike sign in hand, was among the 200 or so writers walking the picket line in front of the 20th Century Fox lot in West Los Angeles.
Marching on the sidewalk of one of the busiest streets in Los Angeles, Pico Blvd., the strikers that included "Shark" creator-executive producer Ian Biederman, "Bones" exec producer Stephen Nathan and "American Dad" producers Jim Bernstein and Nahnatchka Khan enjoyed the support of motorists driving by -- mostly truck drivers --who honked in solidarity. The writers were joined by a few SAG members, including Lelia Goldoni.
The mood on the picket line in the muggy air was mostly somber, with strikers talking quietly amongst themselves between strike chants.
"We're scared; I'd be the first to admit that I'm scared," said "Shark" producer Bill Chais, the designated spokesman and only writer allowed to talk to the press.
While speaking to The Reporter, Chais was getting thumbs up from his boss, Biederman, who was walking the line. Biederman was one of many showrunners who didn't report to work Monday despite talk that showrunners could perform some non-writing duties during a strike.
"Ian is not gonna cross", Chais said, adding that the guild shouldn't leave such decision to people's consciousness. "There should be a set of rules", he said.
Most writers didn't know until past midnight if there will actually be strike Monday as rumors of some progress in the negotiations between the WGA and the studios trickled out during the day Sunday.
"Last night was crazy -- we were burning up the phones, exchanging gossip," Chais said. "We had hope, but I'm not totally surprised I'm here today. It speaks to the fact that it's a monumentally important issue to everyone."
Maybe it was the false hope on Sunday, but strike organizers were not fully prepared Monday morning. By 9:30 a.m., they ran of picket signs and red T-shirts at Fox.
"We've got to get it together", Chais said. "We will".
Warner Bros.
Striking writers took to the main gates at Warner Bros. in Burbank, crossing traffic, shouting chants and waving their signs to passersby.
Picket coordinator Brian Hartt said he expects at least 300 writers, actors and other supporters to walk the picket lines at each of the main entrances throughout the day.
"I have no idea what (the AMPTP) is thinking," Hartt said. "From Day 1, it's been very confusing. I hope they realize we are serious about our future and we'll stay out as long as we need in order to get a fair deal."
Many others echoed Hartt's sentiments, including one showrunner, John, who stood outside the studio's main gate.
