It was an emotional evening for Jennifer Grey after the 63-year-old Dirty Dancing star was given the honor of presenting her father, Joel Grey, with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Tony Awards.
Theater fans were shocked to see that the touching moment was not featured during the main broadcast of the annual Broadway awards show, but rather was shown in the live pre-show, which exclusively played on Pluto TV.
Jennifer began her tribute, joking, “Hi, friends of my dad. I’m Joel Grey’s daughter, my name is Jennifer.”

This Dexter: New Blood review contains spoilers.
Not many shows get a second chance at a finale. But then again, not many shows’ first finales are as bad as Dexter’s was.
After the original Dexter series finale back in 2013 was received, let’s say, less than warmly, Showtime decided to try it again. Following a seven year cool-off period, the network invited original showrunner Clyde Phillips back to envision a new end for Bay Harbor Butcher in the limited series Dexter: New Blood.
Now Dexter: New Blood’s new ending has come and gone and despite mixed fan reaction, it’s hard to argue that it isn’t an improvement…or at least we believe it is. Still, while Dexter: New Blood did an excellent job in wrapping up Dexter’s story once and for all, it left some secondary Dexter characters out in the cold. That’s partly...

With the conclusion of Dexter: New Blood Season 1, fans are going through the motions.
The original series finale got everything wrong, and despite some big flaws, Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 10 was a more satisfactory conclusion.
Still, there are questions about whether the show could go on.
If you watch Dexter: New Blood online, you know the finale killed off Michael C. Hall's titular character at the hands of his son Harrison.
Harrison ultimately evaded justice as Angela Bishop showed up to give him money to escape town and start a new life.
There have long been theories that the show could continue without Dexter at the wheel of the story, and all eyes are on a potential second season or sequel series with Harrison.
"As you can imagine, that’s not the first time I’ve been asked that," showrunner Clyde Phillips explained to TV Line of a potential new season.

Spoiler Alert: This interview reveals major storylines from the finale of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood.
When Clyde Phillips met with Michael C. Hall about returning to the role of Dexter Morgan in what would become Dexter: New Blood, he already knew the serial killer’s life would end.
Hall signed up without hesitation.
Fans of the hit Showtime series Dexter, which ran eight seasons from 2006-2013, rejoined the former Miami Metro blood spatter analyst —now known by the alias Jim Lindsay—and have enthusiastically tuned in to watch his final adventure unfold. And though that journey has now come to an end with his shocking death, the beloved franchise may continue to expand with a little help from his progeny, Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott).
Phillips spoke with Deadline about whether death was the only conclusion on the table for Dexter, the status of a possible continuation, and what happens...

Spoiler Alert: This story includes details from the finale of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood.
It’s truly the end of an era as the fate of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) has been sealed in the final episode of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood. And whether or not fans like the ending this time around, there’s no going back.
“Dexter Morgan is dead,” series showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed to Deadline in a conversation that will run immediately following this recap.
Nearly a decade after America’s favorite fictional serial killer disappeared into a Miami hurricane in the original series finale, in New Blood it is revealed that Dexter was alive and well living in Iron Lake, NY under the alias Jim Lindsay.
He had completely changed his life and left every part of his old life behind, until right around the time someone from his past found him.

White-knuckled and holding our collective breath, Dexter took us for a ride.
In an already superb season, Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 8 has got to be one of the most streamlined episodes thus far. It was focused, well-paced, and unrelentingly suspenseful.
There's no time to waste now. Secrets are out. Everything is coming to a head.
The episode's progression from day/light to night/dark gave it a real sense of slow-building foreboding.
You said you had all day? Well, I've got news for you. The night is mine.
Dexter [voiceover] Permalink: You said you had all day? Well, I've got news for you. The night is mine. Added: December 23, 2021
In the day, outside, Elric was the predator and Dexter the prey. However, as soon as night fell, Dexter reversed their roles. He channeled his desperation into a cold-blooded rage.
The whole Elric/Dexter chase sequence was very reminiscent of Fargo.

We knew it wouldn't be long until Dexter gave in to his Dark Passenger, but it's always more fun to watch him cover his tracks.
On Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 2, that's exactly what he does.
Dexter is more at odds with himself than ever before, but his self-preservation instincts are still intact.
Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) is much more animated "conscience" to Dexter than Harry.
No disrespect to James Remar -- he was always solid -- but as Dexter's priorities and actions have shifted, so has the adversarial voice in his head, foul-mouthed and full of rage.
Carpenter rips and tears into this new version of her old character with her teeth bare, shredding Dexter every chance she gets.
You don't have to enjoy the wins so much, you smug fuck.

It's fan service at its finest.
On Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 1, we are introduced to a kinder, gentler Dexter, existing in a climate as different from Miami as possible.
It's not long until the bloodlust kicks in, and Dexter is back to his old ways. But that's why we're here, isn't it?
After Dexter's poorly resolved "final season," viewers were left with a bad taste in their mouths. When Showtime announced that the series would return with a limited run, fans remained skeptical but intrigued.
With Clyde Phillips, showrunner of the first four seasons (widely considered Dexter's best), heading the production, we needn't have worried. Dexter: New Blood feels like a return to the old Dexter we knew and loved.
There are many differences, but the tone feels the same as in the original series. There are enough callbacks to remind us how we got hooked without feeling gratuitous.

Ladies and gentlemen: Dexter Morgan is back for his encore.
It’s been eight years since Miami’s most under-the-radar serial killer dumped his sister’s body into the sea and disappeared into the night. If you’ll recall, Dexter boated through a hurricane, faked his own death and started a new life as a lumberjack in rural Oregon. But in Showtime’s new event series Dexter: New Blood (premiering Sunday at 9/8c), fans will finally get a chance to revisit the troubled-yet-beloved character, as a dangerous new tale unravels for Dexter and his dark passenger — one which hopefully sticks the landing this time.

When “Dexter” premiered in 2006, audiences were only just becoming enamored with antiheroes. Tony Soprano was putting out hits and Dr. Gregory House was abusing his meds, but Don Draper, Walter White, and many more of TV’s thorny bad boys had yet to make their mark. Dexter Morgan, played with an eerie sobriety and winking humor by Michael C. Hall, fit right in, as a serial killer who only kills criminals. Spurred on by his “dark passenger,” Dexter spent his nights stalking, studying, and slicing his pernicious prey, but even his day job (as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami P.D.) saw him obsessing over diabolical deeds and bodily fluids.
And that’s just it: “Dexter” may have risen to prominence under the auspices of TV’s (second) golden age, but what it leaned on far more than its thematic dissection of man vs. monster, nature vs. nurture,...

We’re just about a month away from the November 7 premiere of “Dexter: New Blood” on Showtime, which will reunite fans with their favorite serial killer. Little is known about the plot of Season 9, except for the fact that Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is now living a secluded life in Iron Lake, New York after faking his death in the 2013 series finale. His sister Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) will also be a part of the revival, though it’s unclear in what capacity as she died (for real) at the hands of psychopath Oliver Saxon (Darri Ingolfsson) in the final season.
As fans continue to speculate about Carpenter’s mysterious role in “Dexter: New Blood,” let’s take a look at three newly released photos of the former Miami Metro lieutenant.

Dexter: New Blood is making way for some old blood as the newest trailer released by Showtime unveils the return of Jennifer Carpenter as his adoptive sister Debra Morgan. The revealing teaser sees Michael C. Hall‘s titular killer living under the alias of James Lindsay in the small fictional town of Iron Lake, New York. Set 10 years after Dexter went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, his life has changed a lot since taking on his new identity. (Credit: Seacia Pavao/Showtime) Embracing a romance with the town’s police chief Angela Bishop (Julia Jones), Dexter is attempting to put his past behind him, but old habits die hard. As the trailer teases a slew of missing young people without any rhyme or reason for their disappearances, Dexter’s Dark Passenger begins to awaken. Exclusive: David Magidoff (The Morning Show) has been added to the cast of Showtime’s Dexter revival set in the upstate New York town of Iron Lake.
He will co-star opposite Michael C. Hall, Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Jack Alcott in the 10-episode limited series, which begins production next month in Massachusetts.
Magidoff will play Teddy. The new guy. Been a cop in Iron Lake for two and a half weeks… really. Good-natured, quirky, hardworking, eager to please; and a little scared of his boss, Police Chief Angela Bishop (Jones). At first glance, he seems timid and inexperienced, but when the rubber hits the road, he’s a dependable badass…in his own way.
The original series, which ran from 2008-13 and remains one of Showtime’s signature dramas, followed Dexter Morgan (Hall), a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami Police Department who moonlighted as a serial killer.
