- Pop singer, comic, and actor best known for his starring role as a nightclub owner trying to break his mob connections in the CBC-TV miniseries "Music Hall", which was inspired by his life story. As a youth, he delivered groceries in the Montreal neighborhood that was home to the Cotroni crime family. In 1988, he was among several entertainers who performed at the maximum-security prison where Frank Cotroni was serving time for manslaughter.
- He got started in show business in 1946, when he and his sister Claudette teamed up in a vaudeville tap-dance act. He became a stand-up comic, produced cabaret shows, and managed a casino.
