[press conference for
Saint Laurent (2014) at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival] The first thing we thought about with Thomas [
Thomas Bidegain] when we had to write the film was how, in the space of two and a half hours, we could deal with the whole life of somebody. So I felt it was necessary to focus on a shorter period and we felt that that decade was the most rich, exciting time in terms of fashion - we're talking about a fashion designer after all - and also in terms of his life. During this decade you have a bit of everything.
Yves Saint-Laurent is still quite a young man and at the end of the decade, everything has been said, everything has been done.
