Auctions are one of the latest ways Hollywood workers are coming together to support their fellow industry members amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The Union Solidarity Coalition and Wgarage Sale — an effort launched by WGA writer Kit Boss to support below-the-line talent amid the Writers Guild strike — have launched separate auctions that give fans the chance to buy rare and classic memorabilia, props and more from their favorite shows.
Tusc’s auction — which follows a similar, successful fundraising event earlier in July — will run through Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. Pt, with proceeds from the Tusc Fund at the Motion Picture and Television Fund benefiting movie crew members in California facing a loss of healthcare connected to the writers and actors strikes that have brought Hollywood production to a halt.
The money from winning bids will support MPTF and its Entertainment Health Insurance Solutions, a joint program it runs...

Amazon has canceled the superhero comedy “The Tick” after two seasons, creator Ben Edlund announced on Twitter Thursday.
“I’m sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with @TheTickTV I’m not sorry to say I love this show, its cast, its story, and its message,” he wrote. “Destiny demands that my compatriots and I now seek a new home for this series.”
The 10-episode second season of the series starring Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman debuted on the streaming service last month. When no Season 3 renewal was announced following the release, fans began to rally on social media to save the show.

Ultimately, their efforts were unsuccessful, but Edlund said he and the show’s producers were seeking a new home for the series, which was a co-production between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios.

I don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed the first season of Amazon’s The Tick. The show turned out to be action packed, filled with humor, and was a ton of fun. Now today we have the first trailer for Season 2 for you to enjoy and it’s pretty damn awesome!
The first season of the series introduced a “world where superheroes and villains have been real for decades. Arthur, an unassuming accountant with no superpowers, becomes embroiled in the middle of the battle between good and evil. When he realizes that his city is owned by a global supervillain who was long thought to be dead, he struggles to uncover the conspiracy. As he becomes obsessed with the conspiracy, most people think he’s crazy. One person who believes Arthur is a mysterious new ally, The Tick, who is a bizarre blue superhero who may just...

Amazon gave fans a taste of the upcoming Season 2 of its superhero comedy The Tick on Friday during the studio’s presentation at Comic-Con. It’s too far away for a release date though — the series was greenlighted for a 10-episode second season back in January, with a 2019 premiere date still to come.
On the panel, creator Ben Edlund showed off a behind-the-scenes video featuring Peter Serafinowicz (who plays The Tick) and Griffin Newman (who plays as Arthur Dent) who divulged that the Aegis superhero agency from the original comics would be a big part of Season 2, along with hints that some superheroes from the original IP wil be involved.
“We’re bringing in new characters like a super villain bank robber,” Edlund told the Ballroom 20 crowd. “Also some characters who have appeared in the comic and cartoons will be added to the series — just expanding the world has been our goal,...

The Tick is more than a reboot of the beloved animated series or short-lived live action series. Instead, it's an almost complete re-evaluation of the concept. It's also the sharpest superhero sendup since the 1966 Batman TV series, with Peter Serafinowicz doing a pretty dead on Adam West in his role as the title character.

The best word to describe tonight’s episode of iZombie is “electric.” Absolutely everything in “Twenty-Sided, Die” works exceptionally well, and each moment, big or small, has a purpose, whether it’s to simply entertain the audience or push the many different storylines of Season 3 forward. Throughout the hour, I found myself laughing, gasping, and nearly crying, and that’s a credit to the episode’s writer, Kit Boss, and the entire iZombie creative team. Obviously, the main attraction in “Twenty-Sided, Die” is Liv on Dungeons & Dragons brains, and Rose McIver, along with the rest of the cast, does not disappoint. From the moment Liv consumes

Thanks to the fine folks at The CW, we are able to enjoy this extended promo video for next week’s brand new episode of iZombie, which bears the clever title “Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind.” And, as we can see in the opening moments of the footage, they are not afraid to drop it like it’s hot.
After witnessing many major developments in last night’s episode, “The Whopper,” fans can expect to see Liv and Clive investigate the murder of an entrepreneur/barista next week. It seems the dearly departed was a “glass half full” type of gal and Liv will obviously temporarily inherit her perspective on life.
While I would not count on her to start adorning her work space with “Hang in there, baby” kitty posters (although you never know with this show), it is probably a solid bet that Rose McIver will continue...

iZombie, Season 2, Episode 10: “Method Head”
Written by Kit Boss
Directed by Mark Piznarski
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
iZombie went into the winter break with a number of significant changes, from Clive deciding to no longer bring Liv out to the field with him to Ravi discovering that the zombie cure he’d formulated was only temporary. This week’s episode looks into how the characters cope with these new pieces of information, revealing some interesting twists to the season’s storylines in the process.
Major and Vaughn’s powerplay against each other continues to be a fascinating aspect of the season. Major has clearly learned his lesson from his attack on Blaine and the Meat Cute, and his deliberate, methodical turn against Vaughn is a clear indicator of what a formidable opponent he’s become, something Vaughn was clearly not banking on when he blackmailed...

Liv and Blaine spent much of the first season trying to fly under the radar of the public because of their zombie afflictions, but despite their best efforts, the second season premiere established that not only did they attract attention from the wrong people, but Vaughn and company were willing to do whatever it took to eliminate the zombie threat and regain power. The past two episodes have worked to deepen Blaine’s backstory while examining how Major is coping with being Vaughn’s designated hitman, in a series of highly entertaining episodes that promise an exciting set of storylines.

The second season of iZombie continues to thrill audiences with the very wit, humor, intrigue, and sharply written characters that made the first season so dynamic, while still going in a bold new direction. Blaine is cured, Major is a reluctant gun for hire, and Liv, well, is still eating brains to help solve murder cases. The fact that Rose McIver gets to flex her acting muscles each week by taking on a new personality via her grey matter gorging means there is never a dull moment for this series.
On that note, we will next see Liv embody the traits of what has been called a “Real Housewife” in pop culture these days. The title of next Tuesday’s episode is, in fact, “Real Dead Housewife of Seattle,” so that one wasn’t likely too difficult to surmise. We have already seen her take on the traits of a...

Lucky Louie, Season 1, Episode 9: “Drinking”
Written by Kit Boss
Directed by Andrew D. Weyman
Aired on August 6th, 2006 on HBO
Welcome to the latest in the series of weekly complaints about offensive jokes in Louis C.K.’s oeuvre, or as Sound on Sight calls them, reviews of the first and only season of Lucky Louie. In all seriousness, just when it seems like the show’s humor can’t get any more tasteless, it finds subjects now (ten years after Lucky Louie premiered, but still) universally considered to be taboo to mock (and probably weren’t looked upon all that much better at the time). In last week’s “Get Out,” it was statutory rape, and this week’s “Drinking” pokes fun at, you guessed it, alcoholism. (It laughs at rape as well, but one gripe at a time.)

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
Major’s constant run-ins with Julien came to a head two weeks ago, as the two faced off in a confrontation that left Major questioning his sanity after Julien walked away from three gunshots without spilling a drop of blood. While Liv guessed this would keep Major free of Blaine in particular and zombies in general for a while, the truth turned out to be the opposite, as another patient opened the possibility to Major for the first time. This week’s episode sees Major delve further into exploring the likelihood of zombies following his friend’s murder, while Liv’s hallucinations skew her sense of what’s real and what’s in her head, in another entertaining outing that opens up a few new plot threads that have potential.

Despite Blaine’s protests to the contrary, it was clear early on that he was up to no good, something Liv picked up on instinctively. As a human, Blaine was a drug pusher, and as a zombie, his criminal tendencies were not only still intact, but had seemingly expanded to include extortion and murder. This week’s episode shows the full extent of Blaine’s growing criminal empire, and the lengths he’s going to to get brains, in an enjoyable episode that also fleshes out some of Clive Babineax’s history.
