2023 marked the 35th anniversary of the release of the 1988 film Pumpkinhead (watch it Here), which was the feature directorial debut of legendary special effects artist Stan Winston. Scream Factory celebrated the anniversary by giving the film a new 4K and Blu-ray release and now, soon after ’23 came to an end, Trick or Treat Studios is celebrating Pumpkinhead with an awesome 8″ scale figure! An image of the figure can be seen at the bottom of this article, and more can be found on the Trick or Treat Studios website, where the figure is available for pre-order. Pre-ordered figures are expected to start shipping out on February 29th. The figure goes for the price of $59.99.

A few years ago, Scream Factory gave the 1988 film Pumpkinhead (watch it Here) a special edition Blu-ray release, including a limited edition steelbook. Now they’re gearing up to bring Pumpkinhead to 4K on October 10th, and a standalone 4K and Blu-ray combo pack is available for pre-order from the Scream Factory website. If you want to go a bit fancier, there’s also a collector’s edition with a poster, prism sticker, lobby cards, and enamel pins that can be purchased through the Scream Factory website. Scream Factory is also teaming up with Best Buy for a Best Buy exclusive steelbook of the 4K release, and that can be pre-ordered on the Best Buy website.

We all have those horror movies that scarred us for life. Whether your blood ran cold from the macabre family dinner in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre or you found yourself disturbed and nauseous while watching Regan’s head spin in The Exorcist, these terrible frights became the catalyst for a lifetime of loving horror. When I think back to my childhood, it’s films like Tourist Trap, Poltergeist, and even Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toymaker that left deep impressions. It’s like a frigid winter chill you simply can’t shake, or that ominous sensation that descends at nightfall and seems to rattle among the shadows on your wall. It’s certainly hard to imagine the fifth installment in any B-movie franchise having much to offer, but director Martin Kitrosser’s The Toymaker injected the series with a pinch of whimsy, a few drops of absurdity, and...

Joining the other two movies in the world of Blu-ray, Lionsgate has officially announced that the Silent Night, Deadly Night Collection is joining the Vestron Video Collector’s Series.
Featuring all-new special features, the Silent Night, Deadly Night Collection includes Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out, Silent Night, Deadly Night 4: Initiation, and Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker. All three movies are worth watching for their own reasons – Sndn 3 stars Bill Moseley as the killer, while Sndn 4 is just plain bonkers and has very little to do with the franchise or even Christmas at all – but in my personal opinion it’s Sndn 5 – starring Mickey Rooney! – that is the true underrated gem of this oddball franchise.
You can expect to own the collection on December 13, 2022.
The Special Features package includes…

"Hairstyles are temporary, but family is forever." Magnolia has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled Permanent, set in the 1980s about a young girl who gets a special hairstyle to fit in. The title is, of course, referring to the 80's hairstyle called "permanent", or better known as a "perm", with big Farrah Fawcett-type curls. When she tries to get this done at the wrong place, it turns out to be a disaster, turning her into the laughing stock of the school. Kira McLean stars as Aurelie, along with Patricia Arquette and Rainn Wilson as her parents, plus Aidan Fiske, Jane McNeill, and Brian Bremer. This looks fun, quirky, and charming, in a quintessential indie way of course, which is why it also looks mostly forgettable. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Colette Burson's Permanent, direct from YouTube: Set in 1983 in small town Virginia,...

If you are old enough to remember the good old days of renting out horror movies on videos you’ll remember the joy of watching the trailers for new releases, even if you’d seen them many times before. There was a lot of work put into them and they did their job well. One I always remember seeing and it left me wanting more was the trailer for Society, just a shame I never managed to get it. Now though, with Arrow Video’s Blu-ray release, I finally get to see the film in all its gory glory.

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Late one night young Derek (William Thorne) awakes to someone knocking at the front door. A present left on the porch ends up strangling his dad. Derek has gone into shock and won’t speak. His mom Sarah (Jane Higginson) hopes maybe a toy will cheer him up. They go to the toy store owned by Joe Petto (Mickey Rooney) and his son Pino (Brian Bremer). A day before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring except Larry the Larvae! “Silent Night Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker” was a pretty good small budget straight to video sequel. One cannot be too surprised that the forth and fifth sequel went with a different premise per movie. Trust me, if you watch the second and third sequel, you’ll beg them to change the subject!
I know many who do not like this movie for any number of reasons, but I consider this the second best made sequel of this five movie franchise. It’s generally well done plot with pretty solid acting. Brian Yuzna co-wrote as he did the forth (director of “The Dentist” and writer of “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”). It’s slow in some spots but I find it fun. Fun fact? Rooney protested...
