Lobstrosities is a Patreon-only segment of The Losers’ Club that journeys into the barren wastelands of Stephen King movies and sequels. In the past, they’ve covered Pet Sematary 2, Creepshow 3, A Return to ‘Salem’s Lot, every sequel to Sometimes They Come Back, and a third of the Corn franchise. Today, in light of its 25th anniversary, the gang is unlocking their 2020 installment on the 1999 sequel, The Rage: Carrie 2.
Directed by Katt Shea, the direct sequel to Brian De Palma‘s Carrie follows Rachel Lang (Emily Bergl), the younger, also-telekinetic half-sister of Carrie White, who learns that her best friend’s suicide was prompted by a group of dickhead male classmates who exploited her sexually. The film brings back Amy Irving as Sue Snell and stuffs enough connective tissue between the cracks to make this whole thing work as a sequel.

If there’s ever been a classic horror film that doesn’t need a sequel, it’s Carrie. Stephen King’s debut novel was masterfully adapted into a 1976 film by Brian De Palma and quickly became a runaway hit. In fact it’s likely because of the film’s success that the prolific author so quickly became a household name. Published in 1974, the semi-epistolary novel follows Carrie White, a high school senior who’s spent her life taking abuse from her ultra-religious mother and savage classmates. Finally pushed too far, Carrie unleashes her telekinetic power with a fiery vengeance that lays waste to the cruel and kind alike. De Palma faithfully adapted King’s original novel to create a terrifying exploration of long-term abuse and self-defense gone terribly wrong. The image of Carrie (Sissy Spacek) covered in blood as she walks through a burning prom has become an indelible image...

Zachery Ty Bryan appeared in an Oregon court Wednesday afternoon to face charges stemming from a July arrest, which marked the latest in a string of legal issues for the troubled former child star best known for Home Improvement.
During today’s proceedings, Bryan, 42, pled guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence. As part of a negotiated resolution, a second count was dismissed and, rather than spend 19 to 20 months in Oregon Department of Corrections, Bryan will receive a “downward dispositional departure” to 36 months of supervised probation, seven days in jail and he must abide by a set of conditions typical of domestic violence cases.

Zachery Ty Bryan, who is an actor best known for playing Brad Taylor on Home Improvement, was arrested on Friday on charges of felony assault. This incident follows a 2020 arrest for assaulting Johnnie Faye Cartwright, his girlfriend at the time.
On Sunday, reports came out that police had responded to a domestic violence call at a residence in Eugene, Oregon. Bryan was not at the scene when police arrived but was tracked down and taken to jail. The name of the victim has not been disclosed.
In October 2020, Bryan was arrested for fourth-degree assault and strangulation. He later pled guilty to two misdemeanors of menacing and assault.
Earlier this year, Bryan told The Hollywood Reporter that his arrest “got so blown out of proportion” by media outlets and explained that the interaction was not as physical as the police report said.
“We didn’t even really get that physical,” Bryan recalled.

It would seem so easy for a child actor to fall into a spiral of drugs and partying. But some fall into more lucrative deals…like fraud. And this allegedly happened to Zachery Ty Bryan, who played oldest brother Brad Taylor on ABC’s Home Improvement.
In a new piece in The Hollywood Reporter, it’s revealed that Zachery Ty Bryan – who has had problems relating to domestic violence and DUIs – got mixed up in a fraudulent plot as an advisor for Producers Market, using his position in the company to make deals that didn’t fit with the company’s mission. As per THR, “Separately, four sources allege that Bryan stole their money through a fraudulent scheme tied to an agriculture-technology startup in individual amounts ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, and totaling close to $50,000. They believe he did so by offering fake contracts that have no value outside of the paper they are printed on.

Zachery Ty Bryan struggled to find acting work after starring as eldest son Brad Taylor in all eight seasons of Home Improvement. He opened up about the struggles, and the hard comedown from teen fame, in a new interview that details his child-star past and his present life, which is riddled with legal issues tied to domestic violence charges, DUIs, and an apparent cryptocurrency scheme. Home Improvement starred Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson as Tim “The Tool Man” and Jill Taylor, parents to sons Brad (Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Bryan said it was “was actually really difficult” to land more acting jobs after the Home Improvement series finale in 1999, despite the success of the ABC show. “If you star in a TV show today, you can be in any film that you want, but back then, it was the polar opposite,” Bryan told The Hollywood Reporter.

Every episode of ABC’s blockbuster 1990s sitcom Home Improvement ended with a life lesson. For eight seasons and 203 episodes, Americans tuned in weekly by the tens of millions to watch Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, wife Jill and their three sons wrestle with dilemmas typical of middle-class American households, only to discover solutions and restore peace in a tight 22 minutes.

When confronted, Brad lies and deflects but eventually comes clean to his parents, played by Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson, and younger brother Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), who says in melodramatic fashion, “I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on with you.”
The episode culminates with a heart-to-heart on the living room sofa.
