Fair City actor Maclean Burke has accused Coronation Street of copying the Irish soap's storylines. Burke plays Damien Halpin in the RTÉ One soap, and featured as part of a plot that saw him become a victim of domestic abuse from wife Suzanne (Sarah Flood). Coronation Street will soon start a new storyline that features a similar scenario, with mechanic Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) getting attacked by fiancée Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede). Sarah McDowell has confessed that she believes her Fair City character Suzanne Doyle's recent domestic abuse storyline "went too far". The actress - whose role called for Doyle to physically attack husband Damien Halpin (Maclean Burke) - told The Herald that she was shocked by many aspects of the plot, which she found to be physically and emotionally demanding. Sarah Flood has admitted that she expects viewers to be shocked by upcoming scenes in Fair City. Flood's Suzanne Halpin will be seen attacking her husband Damien (Maclean Burke) with a snooker cue in a domestic abuse plot. Speaking to RTÉ Ten, Flood said that she thinks people will find the storyline tough to watch. 'Charity Lords of the Ring', a four part, week long series which will follow 10 personalities as they go through boot camp, train, and fight in the ring, all in the name of charity.
