Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

Multi award-winning Filipina actress Ruby Ruiz has landed her first major screen role following her appearance in Amazon’s “Expats.” She will lead “First Light,” the feature directorial debut of James. J. Robinson.
Principal photography is now underway on the Australian-Filipino co-production, which comes with funding from Screen Australia. Veteran actress Maricel Soriano (“Mother Nanny”), Rez Cortez (“Bukal”), Soliman Cruz (“Blue Room”) and Kidlat Tahimik round out the cast.
Set in the remote mountains of the Philippines, “First Light” sees the death of a young construction worker force an elderly nun to confront the muddied ethics of an institution she has dedicated her life to. Danny Boyle's lo-fi 2002 zombie apocalypse film "28 Days Later" caused a stir in the horror community for its grainy digital photography (shot by Anthony Dod Mantle) and for its introduction of "fast zombies" into the pop vernacular. The zombies in "28 Days Later" were, unlike most movie zombies seen up to that point, fast-moving and vicious rather than mindless and shambling. It is credited for breathing new life into the zombie genre, followed as it was by other zombie hits like the "Dawn of the Dead" remake, George Romero's "Land of the Dead," and the hit 2010 series "The Walking Dead." "28 Days Later" also tapped into a lot of America's post-9/11 ennui, presenting hard-edged images of urban desolation. Everyone felt like the world had ended, and Boyle aesthetically agreed.
"28 Days Later," penned by "Civil War" director Alex Garland, was followed by a sequel in 2007 called "28 Weeks Later,...

Platonic creators and real-life husband and wife Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller took a break from writing Season 2 of their Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures Television show to speak with Deadline about Season 1. But, looking ahead, they promised fans can expect the same screw-ups out of Sylvia (Rose Byrne) and Will (Seth Rogen).
“These two characters have their insecurities and issues,” Stoller said at Contenders TV. “Those won’t be solved by a marriage and starting a wedding planning business. We’re all always the same messed up people at all times. No matter what you do, you’re still dealing with those issues.”
The season finale set up Will with a fiancée and Sylvia starting her new business. Those stories will continue over the season, with episodic banter and exploits.
“We want to do more of the same thing,” Delbanco said. “We know it has to be a little bit different.

Gather all your friends. Platonic is headed back to Apple TV + for Season 2.
In some ways, Platonic Season 1 felt like a limited series, but we're excited to have more time with Will, Sylvia, Charlie, and the other characters.
Platonic filled us with lots of drama and laughter, mainly because Rose Bryne and Seth Rogan worked together previously on the comedic film "Neighbors" along with creators and writers Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller.
Let's hope the second season is as successful as the first one.
While the second season may be a ways off, let's discuss possible release dates, Season 2 plot lines, cast, and everything we know so far.

Apple TV + renewed Platonic for Season 2 in December 2023. While the buddy comedy was initially planned as a limited series, it attracted a large following.

The studio did not comment on the roles, but sources say the duo will play two of the woman’s grown children.
The two actors will star alongside the screen icon in Oh. What. Fun., an Amazon MGM holiday comedy that hails from director Michael Showalter, who is behind the studio’s upcoming Anne Hathaway romantic drama The Idea of You.

Bridesmaids made history when it premiered, and it’s an enduring classic that’s still quotable to this day. That’s in large part down to the movie’s incredibly talented cast of stars.
Centered around Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Rose Byrne, the female-fronted comedy features endlessly quotable lines, unforgettable gags and scenes that are still leaving viewers in stitches over two decades after premiering.
So many members of the cast have had successful careers in Hollywood, and they wracked up impressive fortunes in the process.
But who is the wealthiest? We did some digging and looked at the estimated net worth of the biggest celebrities to appear in the movie and ranked them. The top earner was worth nearly $100 million, which is double what the star in the No. 2 spot is worth!

No one ever said loving people is easy. Each person comes with their own set of challenges and unpredictabilities. Patience, tolerance, and understanding are crucial for a meaningful and beneficial bond. If you’re willing to go the distance for someone you love, the rewards can be worth every moment of frustration, heartache, and pain. Today, Bleecker Street debuted a trailer for the studio’s comedic family drama, Ezra, a touching story about fathers and sons going above and beyond the call of duty to find balance in a world designed to judge and persecute.
Ezra follows Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (Robert De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (introducing William Fitzgerald) with his ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Bobby Cannavale Is a Stand-up Comic with an Autistic Son, a Road Trip, and a Dream in ‘Ezra’ Trailer
Bobby Cannavale has been passed over at the Comedy Cellar, but if he doesn’t get his act together — and we don’t mean his stand-up act — life itself will pass him by.
Bleecker Street released the trailer for its upcoming feature film “Ezra” on Wednesday, March 13, which in addition to Cannavale stars Rose Byrne, Vera Farmiga, Whoopi Goldberg, Rainn Wilson, Tony Goldwyn, and newcomer William A. Fitzgerald, and Robert De Niro. Pretty good cast there.
“Ezra” follows Max Bernal (Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (De Niro) while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (Fitzgerald) with ex-wife (Rose Byrne). Cannavale is broke — the living with dad part probably gave that away — and “still not over” Byrne.
Max gets his potential big break when invited to do a late-night set for Jimmy Kimmel. (Unclear if it’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in the “Ezra” Cinematic Universe.) One problem:...

Cillian Murphy is the favorite to win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer on Sunday Night. The actor spent almost six months researching and prepping to play the role of the Father of the Atomic Bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer.
