He was also Tony-nominated three other times: in 1997 as Best Director (Play) for Pam Gems "Stanley;" and in 2001 for his lyrics as part of Best Original Musical Score with collaborator Paul Gordon and for his libretto as Best Book (Musical) for "Jane Eyre."
