He has two sons from his first marriage. Geoffrey Jacob Caputo (DOB: 8/25/1970), a professional guitarist,instructor, and composer, and Marc Antony Caputo (DOB: 2/12/1973), who was a political reporter for the Miami Herald.
Was a U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer from 1964 to 1967 and did a 16 month tour in South Vietnam from March 1965 to July 1966.
Graduated Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois in 1959 and from Loyola University in 1964 with a Bachelor's Degree in English.
