Variety reported last fall that Keanu Reeves was in talks to return for a sequel to “Constantine,” the 2005 superhero horror movie based on the graphic novels from DC Comics and Vertigo Comics. Francis Lawrence, the 2005 film’s director, offered a small but notable update on the project. The filmmaker is set to return alongside Reeves for the sequel.
It turns out a script for “Constantine 2” still does not exist — it got held up by the WGA strike, which is now over — but the two men and original producer Akiva Goldsman are hashing out the story.
“So ‘Constantine 2’ got obviously held up by the writers strike,” Lawrence recently told GameSpot. “And we had to jump through a bunch of hurdles to get control of the character again, because other people had control of the Vertigo stuff. We have control.”

The only soul Satan himself would come up to collect is getting a follow-up film. “Constantine” is back.
Variety can confirm that Warner Bros. will make a sequel to the 2005 supernatural action film “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves. The blockbuster star will reunite with original director Francis Lawrence, best known for taking over the “Hunger Games” franchise after the first film.
“Constantine” has been a hot property in Hollywood, sparking a NBC series created by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, and was even more recently being developed into a new series for HBO Max by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. However, sources tell Variety that the HBO Max series is now dead, although the streamer had been in early talks with an actor for the lead role before the new movie came together. Four scripts were written for the new adaptation set in contemporary London.

“Dexter” and “The Blacklist” producer Daniel Cerone has boarded the U.K. adaptation of Japanese crime drama format “Connected,” Variety can reveal.
Cerone has joined as executive producer and is overseeing the U.K. writers’ room for the show, which is the first project to emerge from a co-production deal between U.K. production company Envision Entertainment and Japanese broadcaster Nippon TV.
Presented to potential partners for the first time on Tuesday at French drama festival Series Mania, “Connected” is currently looking for international partners, such as distributors, streamers or broadcasters. The first iteration of the format is set to air on Nippon TV in April.
Inspired by the likes of investigative podcast series “Serial,” the format is centered on a brand of sleuth known as a “homebound detective” (think investigative journalism group Bellingcat). Scouring the Internet for clues, the group gets to the bottom of crimes using advanced research skills.

Just when it seemed like all hope was lost for Megan Boone's Liz Keene, we have an exciting new update!
NBC has confirmed when the character will be back on the Friday night drama, and it's soon.
The Blacklist Season 8 Episode 14, titled “Misère,” brings Liz back to the forefront several months after her last appearance.
"In a retrospective look at key turning points, steps are retraced that lead Elizabeth Keen to align with a powerful enemy," reads the logline.
If you watch The Blacklist online, you know Liz last appeared back in January after a botched attempt at killing Red.
It's been a polarizing storyline amongst the fans, but might there be a big payoff in the end?
We're finally going to learn the nuts and bolts of what happened from the perspective of Liz.
Yes, the episode will be Liz-centric, and it makes sense when you consider that she's been Mia.

Deadline understands that Abrams’ production company Bad Robot is working with the WarnerMedia streamer on the reboot, which will see the character as a young Londoner. We hear that Bolton has written the pilot script with plans to open a writers room in March.
The character is set to be cast as a diverse lead, a departure from the one played by Matt Ryan in the NBC series, which aired for one season between 2014-15. That series was developed by David Goyer and Daniel Cerone and similarly based on the DC Comics character John Constantine, a British exorcist and occult detective who hunts the supernatural.

“Yes, oh my God, endlessly came up,” Constantine producer Akiva Goldsman said Saturday about the “Want to do a sequel” clamor following Warner Bros’ 2005 DC Keanu Reeves movie about a cynical demonologist who can exorcise demons back to hell.

NBC has given a formal pilot order to Langdon, a drama based on Dan Brown’s best-selling thriller novel The Lost Symbol, as the network is wrapping up its pilot pickups.
The project, from Imagine Television, CBS TV Studios and Universal Television, had been on track for a pilot order, having scored a big production commitment from NBC last summer.
The pilot green light was given to a script by The Crossing creators Dan Dworkin & Jay Beattie. Originally Daniel Cerone had been attached to write the adaptation and penned a draft before departing the project during the development process last year, I hear. Brown, the producers and the network then brought in Dworkin and Beattie, who did their take on the material.
Langdon follows the early adventures of famed Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.

Exclusive: I hear that Bad Robot, through its new deal at Warner Media, is exclusively developing both film and TV ideas based on DC’s Justice League Dark universe at Warner Bros.
This deal is all very nascent and at this point in time there aren’t any specific projects or characters that are being specifically developed out of the franchise. I understand that Bad Robot’s Head of Motion Pictures Hannah Minghella and Head of Television Ben Stephenson will soon be taking meetings with talent reps and their writing clients on which characters will get their own projects.
Justice League Dark (or Jld team) first appeared in the September 2011 issue of Justice League Dark #1 featuring such superheros, mostly occult and offbeat, as John Constantine, mystic and fortune teller Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Shade, the Changing Man, and Zatanna. NBC is set to produce a new TV series called Langdon, which will be inspired by Dan Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol. The title of the series is the last name of the main character in the book series Robert Langdon, who has previously been played by Tom Hanks in the Ron Howard directed movies, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons and Inferno.
Speaking of Ron Howard, he will also be a producer on the series with Brian Grazer. The series itself is being created, written, and executive produced by Daniel Cerone (Motive, Constantine).

It looks like one reboot of a popular novel/movie series is not enough for NBC.
Deadline is reporting that the Peacock network is developing a prequel series of The Da Vinci Code and that it will feature a young Robert Langdon.
While the show is being billed as a prequel, it will actually be based on the novel The Lost Symbol, the third in Dan Brown's Robert Langdon books.
For some reason, the popular Tom Hanks fronted movie series skipped the third book entirely, opting to end the movie franchise with Inferno.

As the devil himself knows, you just can’t keep John Constantine down.
Back in 2015, NBC announced that they weren’t going to renew Constantine for a second season. Fans were dismayed, immediately launching a campaign to save the show. Updated with panel details: The crew from Syfy’s thriller series Nightflyers landed at San Diego’s Comic-Con on Thursday and came equipped with a couple of sneak peeks at the upcoming TV adaption of George R. R. Martin’s 1980 novella. That included a trailer which dropped during the afternoon panel in the Indigo Ballroom.
Martin, the author of the Song of Ice and Fire book series that of course led to HBO’s epic Game of Thrones, is serving as an executive producer. He did not attend the panel session but sent along a video greeting to introduce a look at the first few minutes of the pilot for the crowd in the room.
While the show uses “the framework” of Martin’s book, it takes on a different setting in following eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of the solar system aboard The Nightflyer.

Syfy has announced a series pickup for Nightflyers, based on author George Rr Martin’s novella and the 1987 film of the same name.
Universal Cable Productions is producing the series. Series co-producer Netflix will have first-run rights to the series outside of the Us.
Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and will serve as executive producer alongside Daniel Cerone, who will also serve as showrunner.
Nightflyers follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer - a ship with a small tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain - in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other - and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

Sure, flying dragons are pretty cool… but Syfy is hoping that flying spaceships are even cooler.

Set in a future where Earth faces imminent destruction, Nightflyers centers on a group of explorers who head into outer space to find an alien ship that may hold the key to their survival. Syfy is adapting George R.R. Martin’s novella and 1987 movie, Nightflyers, as a TV series. And it's getting an ambitious release strategy.
"Nightflyers is a haunted house story on a starship. It's Psycho in space." - George R.R. Martin
Nightflyers stands as one of George R.R. Martin’s more intriguing pre-Game of Thrones space science-fiction offerings, starting as a 1980 novella, eventually inspiring a schlocky limited-release 1987 film adaptation. However, it appears that the Literary God of Death’s old property is about to be reincarnated as a television series over at Syfy.
Last year, the genre-aimed NBCU cable outlet ordered a pilot for Nightflyers, which has since expanded into a series pickup (Netflix has first run rights outside the U.S.). Additionally, Nightflyers recently received a bountiful boon of €850,000 from the Irish Film Board and will soon begin filming at Limerick’s Troy Studios.

All together now, The Blacklist fans: “Finally!”
Even though the NBC drama loves to toy with its viewers (see: the “death” of Liz Keen), Thursday’s fall finale seemed, at long last, to reveal the mysterious connection between Liz and Red.
And if Reddington is to be believed, he is Liz’s father, something that has been suspected since the series’ first episode.

To recap: Thursday’s episode found Liz once again taken hostage by Alexander Kirk, who was desperately seeking a way to stave off his life-threatening disease.
