Jacob ‘Jake’ Byrd’s visually stirring horror Adalynn is out now on digital platforms from Summer Hill Films, LLC.
Byrd’s debut, Adalynn follows a mother fighting postpartum depression and slipping over the edge. It becomes hard to distinguish where depression ends, and her nightmares turn real, as she and her newborn are haunted by a stalker unlike any other. ‘Adalynn’ trades in a space between horror, fantasy, ghosts, demons, the Satanic occult and dreams. Jerrod D.Britto wrote the pic.
The film stars Sydney Carvill known for ‘Keep in the Dark’ (2022) and ‘Moon Students’ (2022), with Wade Baker of ‘Division 19’ (2017) and ‘Airliner Sky Battle’ (2020) and Janet Carter from ‘Revenge for My Mother’ (2022) and ‘Swim Instructor Nightmare’ (2022). The film is produced by Malati ‘Mala’ Patil & Jake Byrd and co-produced by filmmaking veteran Straw Weisman.

The birthing of a film can be a painful process, particularly in the world of independent filmmaking, and while truncated shooting schedules, limited budgets and location challenges conspire at times to create seemingly insurmountable hurdles, nothing proves more daunting for cast and crew alike than being subject to a producer with more mood swings than a 1940’s jazz band.
Such was the case on the set of director Charlie Vaughn’s Blood Mary 3D.
Originally slated to shoot in December of 2010, executive producer Chalmers (who previously produced the Bruce Campbell flicks Man with the Screaming Brain and Alien Apocalypse) made the choice to film Bloody Mary in 3D, with production therefore being delayed until spring while logistics were being hammered out.
Shooting over the course of a short six days earlier this month in and around an industrial complex in South Central L.A., this writer paid the production a...

The 2010 edition of the San Diego Comic Con International exploded on the scene July 22nd, as colorful and spectacular as the nightly fireworks display over the city’s Sea World park, threatening to burst the fortress-like walls of the San Diego convention center as over 126,000 fans packed the building and Famous Monsters of Filmland was there in the heat of the action!
Little could Comic Con founder Shel Dorf have imagined that the convention would grow to such monstrous proportions when he organized “The Golden State Comic Con” in the basement of the U.S. Grant Hotel back in 1970. Comic books are still the heart and soul of Comic Con, but over the years as the convention has grown, it has embraced related media like magazines, toys and Hollywood, itself, where the studios roll out news about their big, upcoming titles.
