We tend to look for patterns, trends and whatnot with our annual predictions. In Dito Montiel’s case, it would appear that he shows up at the fest with odd numbered films in his filmography. Sundance embraced the filmmaker-musician-author with open arms back on 2006 with the double Sundance winner totally engrossing dramatic book to film translation of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. His third film, The Son of No One (which is sandwiched by Fighting (’09) and 2013′s Empire State) received the closing night honors of the fest back in 2011. For Boulevard (film number five), Montiel reteams with his longtime editor Jake Pushinsky and landed Park Chan-wook’s cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung. Shot in Nashville, Robin Williams toplines the drama which wrapped in mid July. Feast your eyes on our exclusive first look below.

Here’s one quick casting news – Robin Williams has joined the cast of Dito Montiel‘s (yes, Montiel is man who stands behind that crime pic Empire State with Dwayne Johnson and Liam Hemsworth in the leading roles) upcoming project titled Boulevard. The movie, described as an intimate drama about marriage and lies, already stars Roberto Aguire.
So, at this moment we know that Dito Montiel will direct Boulevard from a script written by Doulgas Soesbe, and that the story will center on a devoted husband in a marriage of convenience whose run-in with a guarded young man forces him to come to terms with his own secrets.
Not hard to guess that Williams is on board to star as that devoted husband, while Aguire will play the young man named Leo.

#63. Struck by Lightning - Brian Dannelly After blasting onto the indie scene with Saved! at the Sundance Film Festival's 2004 edition, helmer Brian Dannelly gravitated towards television and perhaps it make sense that his sophomore pic works from Glee's Chris Colfer's screenplay, and sees Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) with Colfer toplining (see set pic above). I'd peg Struck by Lightning as a possible selection in the Premieres category and worth noting: cinematographer Bobby Bukowski. Gist: This opens when Colfer’s character is struck and killed by lightning and then, in flashback, tells the story of how he blackmailed other high school students to contribute to a literary magazine. Producers: Rob Aguire, Mia Chang and David Permut (Youth in Revolt)(Ioncinema.com Preview Page // IMDb Link)...

Two Emmy nominees are joining forces as Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks hooks up with former Glee star Chris Colfer for the Brian Dannelly-directed coming-of-age comedy, Struck by Lightning. Colfer, with his Glee days behind him, wrote and stars in the film about a guy struck by lightning, with most of the story taking place as a flashback that shows the guy blackmailing other high school students to contribute to a literary magazine.
Hendricks, enjoying her second Emmy nomination for AMC’s Mad Men, joins a cast that includes Dermot Mulroney, Allison Janney, Angela Kinsey, Allie Grant, Ashley Rickards, Polly Bergen, Brad Henke, Robbie Amell and Carter Jenkins. In addition to writing and appearing in the film, Colfer will also executive produce with manager Glenn Rigberg and Jason Michael Berman. David Permut, Rob Aguire, and Mia Chang are producing the project.
