"Where did the money come from?" Another official trailer has arrived for the Hong Kong film called The Goldfinger, which is exactly what is listed (in English) in the title card of this trailer. The film is also going under the title Once Upon a Time in Hong-Kong, written and directed by the filmmaker Felix Chong. Set in the 1980s, the film is based on the story of Carrian Group, a Hong Kong corporation which rose rapidly before collapsing shortly afterwards due to a corruption scandal. Acclaimed actors Tony Leung & Andy Lau reunite after the seminal Infernal Affairs years ago. When a stock market crash causes the sudden collapse of a multi-billion-dollar company, an Icac investigator (Lau) uncovers a criminal conspiracy involving the company’s founder (Leung) and becomes entangled in a long-running investigation. The film's cast also includes Simon Yam, Charlene Choi, Tai-Bo, Alex Fong, Philip Keung, Kar Lok Chin,...

It’s been a long wait for The Goldfinger, which reunites Infernal Affairs stars Tony Leung and Andy Lau with writer-director Felix Chong: production began in February of 2021, our first look arrived spring 2022, and for some time it was all quiet on the eastern front. But a trailer this summer confirmed it’ll hit Hong Kong on December 30, and with only a month to go there’s a new, English-subbed preview that suggests the film will, at least for extravagance, have been worth the wait.
The thriller also stars Simon Yam, Philip Keung, Alex Fong Chung-sun, Charlene Choi, Chin Ka-lok, and Carlos Chan, and is inspired by the story of the Hong Kong conglomerate Carrian Group, which was embroiled in a scandal.
Set in the 1980s, the film depicts cut-throat machinations between Hong Kong’s jostling business elites amidst the backdrop of the tail end of British colonial rule.

Tony Leung and Andy Lau reunite in The Goldfinger, after many years apart. Here’s the trailer for the film, that arrives in the UK in December.
2002’s Infernal Affairs is one of the most iconic Hong Kong films of the early 2000s. The story of a cop who infiltrates the Triads and another officer who is secretly a spy for the same group was so popular that Martin Scorsese remade it in 2006 as The Departed. It also was followed by a couple of sequels, none of which were remade by Martin Scorsese.
Stars Tony Leung, Andy Lau and writer Felix Chong have reunited over 20 years later to make The Goldfinger, that Cine Asia has picked up for distribution in the UK.
The synopsis for The Goldfingerreads as follows:

Sammo Hung is regarded as one of the greatest Kung Fu performers of his generation. His high tempo, hard htting fight sequences have captured audiences all over the world. Future generations will look back and watch in amazement, witnessing one of the very best in world cinema.
Peking Opera Days
The Peking Opera school was run from a small theatre by Master Yu Jim Yuen, this was where Sammo Hung would begin his journey. In them days, the stundents would normally enroll for around 10 years, each day performing gruelling tasks for up to 18 hours a day which included training in the Martial Arts, weapons training, acrobatics, acting and singing. The Peking opera of course brought together Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Wah, Corey Yuen, Yuen Tak and Yuen Mo, who would eventually be known as the 7 Little Fortunes. When it comes to making features like this one, i love the idea of coming up with my own personal “100 Great Kung Fu Movies” of all time. It is tough choosing just 100 because you know there are many more great Kung Fu movies that are not on the list.
I understand everyone will have their own personal favorites and some may not agree with my list and that’s fine because it’s nice to have different opinions on this genre which keeps it fresh and alive when having good debates.
Anyway, thank you for taking time to have a look at my 100 Great Kung Fu movie list and feel free to add any movies in the comment box if they don’t make my list (I have probably forgotten many movies).

I have decided that to make the list, a movie must have a few hand to hand moments during fight scenes in the movies chosen. If for example its mainly sword play with one fight scene hand to hand it won’t make the list. Its old school “style” Kung Fu movies, not modern day settings.

I just had the opportunity to check out Rise of the Legend, the latest in the pantheon of Wong Fei Hung movies that fans (like me) have enjoyed over the years. From Kwan Tak Hing, to Liu Chia Hui, to Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Zhao Wen Zho, Chin Kar Lok; Fei Hung was even played by a girl in one of my favorite films, Iron Monkey (‘93.) Angie Tsang played a young Wong Fei Hung in one of my favorite (actually) depictions of the character in that film. My personal favorite Wong Fei Hung was Jet Li, but this new kid might just have the goods, so to speak, Eddie Peng brings a youth and grittiness to the character that I honestly haven’t seen before. You may know Eddie Peng as perhaps the most interesting part of the Kung Fu Hero/Zero series, playing the villain Fang Zi Jing. I have to say,...

The biggest thing on the cinematic horizon in Hong Kong right now is Cold War, written and directed by first-timers Longman Leung and Sunny Luk, and starring pretty much every red-blooded male currently working in the city. When a police van loaded with weapons and explosives gets hijacked, and the terrorists begin an extreme reign of terror across Hong Kong, cops Tony Leung Ka Fai and Aaron Kwok find themselves at war with each other over how to deal with it. Cold War also stars Charlie Young, Gordon Lam, Chin Ka Lok, Andy On, Terence Yin, Eddie Peng, Aariff Rahman, Byron Mann, Grace Huang and a cameo from Andy Lau and hits cinema screens in Hong Kong on 18 October. Today, Edko has released another...

One of the most promising Hong Kong prospects for Summer 2012 is Cold War, an action-packed cop thriller from first-time writer/director team Longman Leung and Sunny Luk. The all-star cast includes Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Ka Fai, as well as Charlie Young, Andy On, Aarif Rahman (Lee), Gordon Lam, Byron Mann and Grace Huang, while the plot centres around a violent hostage situation that quickly spirals out of control. The first teaser trailer has now been released, which boasts a combination of footage, soundbites from the cast and crew (including action director Chin Kar Lok) and behind the scenes footage. I thought it was about time i did a post on the great vampire buster of all time, yes you got it, lam Ching Ying. This will be listing all the movies and tv series where Lam Ching Ying either stars in or takes on the hopping vampires and evil spirits.
His roles in the Mr.Vampire movies show his skills as an actor, with great comic timing which goes well with his serious acting side, which we normally get to see on screen. This role would make him, not just a big star in Asia but also worldwide as the master of Vampire killers.
Other great movies which he starred in (But not in a vampire movie) were the likes of The Prodigal Son, School On Fire, Eastern Condors, The Magnificent Butcher and Painted Faces.
I have been a big fan of these movies since i first watched Mr.

Soi Cheang's previous collaboration with producer Johnnie To, Accident, is a big favourite around these parts and by the looks of the trailer to his new film, Motorway, he's sticking to the same style.Starring a host of familiar faces, including Shawn Yue, Anthony Wong, Guo Xiaodong, Gordon Lam, Barbie Hsu, Josie Ho, Michelle Ye, Li Haitau and LiGuangjie, with action direction from Chin Ka Lok, Motorway is an old school pedal to the metal racing thriller that features some audacious sequences through the very heart of Hong Kong's Central district. There's no word yet on when the film will be released, but we'll be keeping a very close eye on this one.Synopsis:Sean is an overconfident rookie in the Stealth Riders, a secret police unit consisting of...

What, there are still things about Bruce Lee’s life that we don’t know about yet? Apparently so, and this new take on the kung fu legend happens to be based on the memoir by Alex Lee, Bruce Lee’s brother, so you expect it to shed some light into the man, the legend, the asskicker that we haven’t known about. Maybe. The film stars Aarif Lee as Lee (no relations — at least, I don’t think there is), and co-stars Tony Leung Ka-Fai and Christy Chung as his parents, with Alex Man, Siu-Fai Cheung and Kar Lok Chin rounding out the cast. “Bruce Lee” (aka “Bruce Lee, My Brother”) purports to tell more of the family life of Bruce Lee, though judging by the English-subtitled trailer, that leaves plenty of room for Bruce Lee to deliver some asskicking to some dudes throughout the movie. They all had it coming,...

After the success of his much praised “The Beast Stalker”, director Dante Lam continues his quest to prove himself the leading purveyor of hardcore Hong Kong thrills with “Fire of Conscience”. The hard hitting film certainly pulls no punches when it comes to violent action, with choreographer Chin Kar Lok taking the same kind of gritty yet explosive approach he did with Derek Yee’s “One Nite in Mongkok”. The film has an impressive cast, headed up by popular stars Leon Lai and Richie Jen, with support from Michelle Ye (who recently won Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for Soi Cheang’s “Accident”), Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu (“The Knot”, “Hot Summer Days”), Mainland actor Wang Baoqiang (“Equation of Love and Death”), and Liu Kai Chi (also in Lam’s “The Beast Stalker”). Leon Lai takes on the role of rough, tough detective Manfred, known for his...

Truth be told, I wasn’t a fan of the grossly melodramatic 2009 Jackie Chan outing “The Shinjuku Incident,” but I suppose there are oodles of people out there who are genuinely excited about its arrival on Region 2 DVD this February. The film is pretty much a straightforward crime saga; there’s nary a death-defying stunt to be found anywhere in the picture, and, as a result, the film rests squarely on Chan’s abililties as an actor. Since the guy’s really not known for his dramatic skills, you can only imagine what you’re forced to endure. But, I digress. The 2-disc “Ultimate Edition,” released by by Cine Asia, will sport the following nifty features: * Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes * Extended & Deleted Scenes * Trailer Gallery * Interview Gallery with Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu, Xu Jinglei, Masaya Kato, Naoto Takenata, Chin Kar Lok, and Pater Kam Pau-Tat The artwork is lovingly embedded below.
