10 Iconic Dance Numbers in the Millennium ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Hindi Film Music has witnessed paradigm changes in the Millennium. Songs are now promo tools and barely situational, and lip-sync numbers predominantly dance songs. On International Dance Day (April 29), I choose the 10 truly magnificent dance numbers that will always live on. And yes, I have not included Naacho Naacho from Rrr as it was technically not a Hindi movie!
Budtameez Dil / Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Ranbir Kapoor outdid himself in this song, reviving memories of his father, Rishi Kapoor’s mastery of dance! The musical was enriched immeasurably by this by Benny Dayal-Shefali Alvares song, composed by Pritam with delightfully crazy lyrics (Paan mein pudina dekha) by Amitabh Bhattacharya. And if you thought the dance had a hint of Michael Jackson, please remember that legend was its choreographer Remo D’Souza’s idol.

2019 has taken the remake trend of 2018 and pushed the dial to 11. We’ve seen straight rips of some classic old songs and some very good bits of reworking and modernising efforts from the new generation of music directors. We can look at how Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga not only reminded us of Anil Kapoor bouncing around on his bed and in his old car but also brought the reality of Sonam Kapoor’s role in the new film into focus. At the other end of the scale there’s been a lot of reworking done for Punjabi pop performers, with several being invited to redo their songs with some of Bollywood’s best.
In all cases what any remake does do well is to give listeners both new and old a chance to either reminisce or get to know a song that may be from a previous...

Playback singer Neeti Mohan says she has observed that a woman gets fewer lines in a duet track for a film, but personally, she emphasizes on the importance of a song rather than the length of her part.
Neeti told the publication: "I think last year, I was feeling it too much that the female part in a duet song is much shorter than the male part in the song, but I think it is slowly changing. This year I did not have such a song."
"In my song 'First Class' from the film Kalank, I was okay with the shorter part in the duet because it was to praise the man. In the Bharat?song 'Aithey aa' also I have a substantial part. My problem starts when I see that in a situation when the girl is telling her feeling, say crying or laughing, the song is sung by a male singer.

The 26-year-old was featured along with rapper Badshah and singer Harrdy Sandhu in the magazine.

It was back in 2017 when Hollywood star Chris Pratt said "Whoa... wow" after watching a special Hindi promotional clip of his movie Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 that featured Bappi Lahiri's foot-tapping song "Jhoom jhoom jhoom baba". The Indian veteran singer-composer says he is in talks with Marvel Studios for one of their upcoming movies. Over the years, some of the Indian elements have managed to find their way in Marvel superhero films. Remember Robert Downey Jr.'s character Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) attending an Indian wedding in Spider-man: Homecoming or the Indian slum scenes in The Avengers?
If things work out, then one of Bappi Lahiri's songs will feature in a Marvel film.
"I am currently in talks with Marvel Studios. They had used my song 'Jhoom jhoom jhoom baba'. Chris Pratt, the hero of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, had really liked the song.

It is where hearts meet, auntyjis gossip and kids have a blast. Navratri shin-digs are the ‘it’ get togethers in the Desi calendar every year. It’s a nine day long festive period where everyone joins in daily for a night of song and dance. Apart from being the social get together of the year the festival has a strong religious meaning. It celebrates nine forms of Goddess Durga, one on each night, hence the name nav-nine ratri-nights. The 10th day is the festival of Dashera, marking the ultimate triumph of good over evil in Indian history.
Unlike any other usual festival, navratri songs and dance are specific. They have a distinct beat and the dance form adopted is garba or dandiya. The song and dance routine of the night, garba or dandiya, also have a strong historical backing as depicts the rasa-lila between Lord Krishna and the gopis of Vrindavan.

Mumbai, March 22: "Kajra re" crooner Alisha Chinai, who turned 49 earlier this week with a quiet birthday at her residence in Alibag with only her dad for company, finds it tough being "companion-less". Nevertheless, she's "happy being the queen in my own castle".
"I've been on my own for many years now. And I'd be pretending if I said I didn't miss that someone special in my life. It's been very tough on me to be companion-less," Alisha said.
"Lekin love meri fitrat aur kismet mein nahin (Love is not in my nature and destiny). It's better to accept the karmic truth than to keep searching for something that destiny has.

Film: "Krrish 3"; Music Director: Rajesh Roshan; Singers: Mamta Sharma, Anirudh Bhola, Neeraj Shridhar, Monali Thakur, Bob, Alisha Chinai, Zubeen Garg, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal; Rating: **
One of the first things you notice about the "Krrish 3" soundtrack is that it is lengthy. Composed by Rajesh Roshan, it has seven tracks, including two remixes. While a couple of songs are just average, some are interesting.
The first is the title track "Krrish krrish". Wow! Singer Anirudh Bhola has a presence in the song, but it is Mamta Sharma who gets the attention. The piano plays the signature tune and it sounds.

After being almost two years in the making, Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 3 finally sees the light of the day this November the 4th. As expected brother Rajesh Roshan does the music for the film. Some say that Pancham, R D Burman, felt that one of the most impressive musicians around is Rajesh Roshan. Whilst the composer has given us some classic albums in the 90s, Koyla, Karan Arjun and Papa Kehte Hai, to name a few, come the millennium we hear very little from the composer except for his work for his brother’s films and the occasional exceptions. Time to see if his latest album for the home production lives up to the high expectations.
Mamta Sharma (‘Munni Badnaam’ – Dabangg) opens the album with Krrish Title track along with Anirudh Bola and Rajesh Roshan’s contribution, although Mama remains the leading voice of the track. Rajesh mixes classical Indian music themes with techno.

Mumbai, March 11: Priyanka Chopra has always idolised Alisha Chinai, who has been roped in to sing for the actress in "Krrish 3".
Alisha had sang for Priyanka in 2005 film "Karam" and the song "Tinka tinka" became synonymous with the actress' sizzling femme fatale image.
Eight years after the "Tinka tinka" song, Alisha has been persuaded out of self-exile by composer Rajesh Roshan to croon for Priyanka for his brother Rakesh Roshan's "Krissh 3".
It's a song that Priyanka was meant to sing in her own voice. However, the music deal for her international album prevents Priyanka from singing in any other form, medium.

The unpardonable death in Delhi on Saturday morning of the gang rape victim cast an all-pervasive pall of gloom over the film industry. Many stars and filmmakers called off their New Year plans. Other topnotch celebrities, like the Kapoors - Rishi, Neetu and Ranbir - and the Roshans, have called off their plans in the light of the tragedy. Singer Alisha Chinai, with chartbusters like .Kajra re. (.Bunty Aur Babli.) and .Tera hone laga hoon. (.Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.) to her name, thinks playback singing is ridiculous and says she can.t do it any more at any cost..Aishwarya and Katrina are beautiful women. But sorry, I didn.t enjoy watching them pretending to sing my songs .Kajra re. and .Tera hone laga.. My God! It.s so ridiculous! Would you ever see Julia Robert singing in Madonna.s voice? Over here this practice of ghost voices just spooks me out, man. I can.t do it, sorry,. she said.Alisha.s latest grievance over the tradition of ghost voices is the chartbuster .Munni badnaam hui...Who knows it is sung by Mamta Sharma? Everyone sees it as Malaika.s song,. protests Alisha. So what.s her solution?.I.ve none. I can.t fight the system.
