Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano are reuniting for the Who’s the Boss? sequel, which has finally found a home at Amazon’s new streaming service Freevee. According to Deadline, Danza and Milano will reprise their roles as Tony and Samantha Micelli, the characters they portrayed in the popular 1980s sitcom. One Day at a Time alums Mike Royce and Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz will write and produce the series, which has been in development for almost two years. The sequel is set 30 years after the events of the original series and will focus on former Major League Baseball player Tony Micelli and his relationship with his daughter Samantha. Now a single mother, Samantha is back living in the family house with her retired father. The series will tackle generational differences, including opposing worldviews and parenting styles in a modern 2022 family dynamic. Ben Starr, who co-created Silver Spoons and helped develop The Facts of Life, died Sunday of congestive heart failure at his home in Los Angeles, his daughter Carol Starr Schneider told the Los Angeles Times. He was 92. Starr co-created Silver Spoons with Martin Cohan and Howard Leeds. Writer Martin Cohan, who created the sitcom Who's The Boss?, has died. He was 77.
Cohan passed away on Wednesday in Pacific Palisades, California after suffering complications from large cell lymphoma, reports Daily Variety.
The screenwriter began his career as an assistant director/stage manager at U.S. TV network ABC before being drafted into Universal Television's documentary division.
He moved into sitcoms in the 1970s, writing for programmes including The Odd Couple, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and All In The Family. He also directed, produced and wrote episodes of The Bob Newhart Show.
He and his partner Blake Hunter created the Tony Danza series Who's The Boss? in 1984, and also co-created Silver Spoons.
Who's The Boss? star Judith Light has paid tribute to Cohan in a statement which reads: "Marty was such a rare treasure in our business: not only brilliant and funny but with a huge heart and unfailingly kind."
He is survived by his wife Dawn, a son and daughter, two stepchildren and a sister.
