Daytime star Jeanne Cooper didn’t hide the fact that she got a facelift in 1984. She couldn’t, since footage from the procedure aired on The Young and the Restless 40 years ago, on March 28 of that year. Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor on the CBS soap from 1974 until just before her death in 2013, said on The Talk in 2012 that the procedure was her idea. “I walked by a mirror one day and scared the hell out of myself,” she quipped (per HuffPost). “Everything that happened in that storyline was first-hand. And you saw everything as I saw it.” In a 2009 Television Academy interview, Cooper said that when she asked The Young and the Restless co-creator Bill Bell for time off to recover from her facelift, he thought that art could imitate life. “He came down to the dressing room one day, and he said, ‘Jeanne, how would you feel about...

1. The Death of Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) The passing of Jeanne Cooper in 2013 sent ripples through The Young and the Restless, a show where her character, Katherine Chancellor, had been a cornerstone since 1973. The impact of her death on the series was profound, not only because of the emotional void it left but also because it marked the end of an era for a character whose influence is still felt in Genoa City. For her work on Y&r, Cooper received 10 Daytime Emmy Award nominations, taking home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2008. Her legacy...

Dahmer – Monster may have been a dark series about a serial killer, but Michael Learned thinks she got the role as the cannibal’s grandmother by showing off her wry sense of humor.
While shooting a self-tape for the role of Catherine Dahmer, Learned’s manager suggested that she include a full body shot as part of the audition.
“I said, ‘oh God, if I’d known you were gonna do that, I would’ve worn a bra,” Learned recalls to Deadline. “I hiked up my boobs. I thought my manager was going to cut it out. But he left it in and I think I probably got the part because it just made them laugh.”
An ability to put viewers in stitches wasn’t exactly a requirement of the job. Instead, Learned was hired to portray Dahmer’s rather tolerant grandma who takes the young man into her home...

It’s hard to believe that The Young and the Restless has been delighting audiences for 50 years. The CBS daytime soap is one of the few that is still running after all these years, and it is more than just a show – it is a family. According to Reader’s Digest, well over 12,000 episodes have aired and it has become one of the longest-running series on television. There was plenty of celebration to mark both the momentous anniversary, and, of course, the fact that The Young and the Restless has stayed in the Bell family for 50 years.

Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) are a popular couple on The Young and the Restless. Since the 1990s, the Genoa City detective and the attorney have had an on-again, off-again relationship. Although the couple got their happily ever after in 2013, trouble in paradise might be looming.
Paul Williams and Christine Blair’s relationship history on ‘The Young and the Restless’
Paul and Christine are vital characters on the soap opera. Their romance has earned them the honor of being a The Young and the Restless super couple. Like many couples, they had their challenges and split several times.
In 2013, the couple remarried as per the wishes of their late friend Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). As with many veteran characters, Paul and Christine’s screen time has diminished. While Christine continues to make random appearances, Paul hasn’t been seen since November 2020.
Just a Paul and Christine appreciation post.

Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) is an iconic The Young and the Restless character. For the past four decades, fans have laughed and cried alongside Esther during many bouts of Genoa City drama. Let’s look at the legendary soap opera character.
The Young and the Restless star Kate Linder I Robin L Marshall/Getty Images Who played Esther Valentine on ‘The Young and the Restless’?
Linder has played the iconic Esther on The Young and the Restless for nearly 41 years. The actor made her soap opera debut on Apr. 8, 1982. The role was initially supposed to be for one day, but the producers decided to make Esther a permanent character.
Esther becomes the loyal maid and friend of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). The maid provided some much-needed humor whenever Genoa City was overwhelmed with drama. Although most of Esther’s time was spent helping Katherine, she had her own bouts of trouble.

Quinn Redeker, who came up with the original script and Russian roulette idea for The Deer Hunter before starring as shady characters on the soap operas Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless, has died. He was 86.
Redeker died Dec. 20 of natural causes in Camarillo, California, his daughter, Arianne Raser, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Early in his career, Redeker appeared in The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1962) and Jack Hill’s Spider Baby or, the Maddest Story Ever Told (1967), then graduated to more prestige fare, working with Robert Redford in The Candidate (1972), The Electric Horseman (1979) and Ordinary People (1980).
Inspired by a Life magazine article about a man who played Russian roulette for the camera, Redeker contacted screenwriter Louis Garfinkle in 1974 about teaming on a movie script about a guy in the Bahamas who made a living at the hazardous game.

Trevor St. John made his The Young and the Restless debut last week but it wasn’t until Monday, October 3, that his character’s identity was revealed and it’s a doozy! The One Life to Live veteran is playing Tucker McCall, the son of the late Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). Previously, Tucker was on the canvas from 2010 to 2013 and was played by Stephen Nichols. “The producers gave me an overview, but I’ve been mostly learning on the job,” Trevor St. John tells TV Insider as to how he got caught up on his character’s backstory. “His connections are complex.” That’s an understatement! Tucker wasn’t in Genoa City all that long in the grand scheme of things (Y&R turns 50 next year!) but he played out lots of story during his relatively short tenure. The mogul romanced Harmony Hamilton (Debi Morgan), Diane Jenkins, Ashley ...

Who is Tucker McCall on The Young and the Restless? That’s a question many Y&r fans are asking as the character resurfaced with a new face and new drama.
It’s been a while since viewers of the hit CBS daytime drama have seen Tucker on-screen.
The character left Genoa City for Hong Kong in 2013, leaving behind his mother, Katherine (Jeanne Cooper), and son Devon (Bryton James).
Now Tucker’s back in town thanks to Diane (Susan Walters), although she’s definitely not happy about his return.
Although they did have one-night stand years ago, Tucker showing up in Genoa City has nothing to do with their tryst but rather one of Diane’s many deep dark secrets.
Before what brings Tucker back comes to light, it’s time for a little refresher on the character.

It looks like Tucker McCall is headed back to The Young and the Restless, but this time the character will be played by Trevor St. John.
News broke in August that One Life to Live alum Trevor had signed on to the hit CBS soap opera.
However, details of the character he was playing have been kept under wraps.
The rumor mill has been running wild, though, that Trevor will play a recast role with several connections to Genoa City.
It’s believed the actor will be thrown into a hot-button storyline.
Not only that but it’s believed Trevor is set to make his Y&r debut this week.
Is Trevor St. John playing Tucker McCall on Y&R?
The recent issue of Soap Opera Digest has speculation brewing that Trevor will play Tucker McCall, Devon’s (Bryton James) bio dad.

“Dinner is served!” With those three words, Kate Linder made her debut on The Young and the Restless 40 years ago on April 16, 1982. Esther was the loyal maid to the late Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) at the Chancellor mansion for decades. TV Insider sat down to chat with the soap opera veteran about her storyline highlights over the years and her memories of working with the late Cooper. Also, Linder, who received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2008, is going to be honored on April 21 at The Hollywood Museum when her character’s maid uniform, feather duster, and other items will be placed on display. The tribute to soap opera’s most popular maid will remain open to the public for three months. Do you remember your first day? Kate Linder: Yes. I remember going up to Jeanne Cooper and saying that I’d be playing her maid.

In December 2018, musician Morrissey mentioned actor Donnelly Rhodes in a post on his blog, along with a photo of the former Soap and The Young and the Restless star.
"2018 was cruel to the Arts; more have quietly slipped away than you possibly realize: Peter Wyngarde, Charles Aznavour, Vic Damone, Nancy Wilson, Dorothy Malone, Bernardo Bertolucci, Aretha Franklin, Givenchy, Donnelly Rhodes," he wrote.
This month, Morrissey released a new vinyl single, "Lover-To-Be," which featured the same photo of Rhodes on the cover. It is unclear if Morrissey was a fan of the late actor, or if another connection existed.
Rhodes played Phillip Chancellor II on The Young and the Restless in 1974-1975. The character's death set up decades worth of story for Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) and Jill.
