- Talked into a screen test by Columbia director Charles Vidor and subsequently signed to a seven-year contract. Appeared as a gangling juvenile in several 1940's comedies, before wartime military service in the Pacific theatre. Continued to act after the war, initially on Broadway, then increasingly drawn towards television. Later switched to directing and producing for Disney, Screen Gems and Aaaron Spelling Productions.
- Moved to Chicago in 1997, teaching drama and film directing at Columbia College for five years.
- Was a member of the directing and animation faculty at Columbia College Chicago. (January 2002)
