It’s official: Arie Luyendyk Jr. is the next Bachelor.
The news was announced Thursday on Good Morning America after weeks of mounting anticipation — during which, according to People sources, franchise executives scrambled to come up with their next leading man.

Allyson Felix, Courtney Okolo, Natasha Hastings and Phyllis Francis won a historic Olympic gold in the women's 4x400-meter relay race on Saturday, continuing a first-place winning streak that hasn't been broken since the 1996 Atlanta Games. The women led for the entire race and came in first with a time of 3:19.06 seconds. Jamaica scored silver coming in at 3:20.34 and Great Britain took bronze finishing in 3:25.88 seconds. Courtney Okolo ran the first leg of the race and handed off the baton to Natasha Hastings. Hastings passed it to Phyllis Francis. Felix ran as the team anchor.
