Exclusive: Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) and Tony Shalhoub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) will lead the cast of the upcoming feature film The Wonder Yard from writer Beth Curry. Lauren Miller Rogen (Like Father) is set to direct.
Elevate Entertainment will produce alongside Lylas Pictures. Concourse Media has attached to finance and handle worldwide sales, repping domestic sales alongside CAA.
The Wonder Yard follows Dinah (Weaver), who becomes a widow after 50 years of marriage. Following her husband’s death, Dinah throws her energy into building an eclectic wonderland in her front yard. Her adult children wonder if their mom has lost it, but through her wonder yard, Dinah discovers it’s never too late to chase a dream as she finds her voice, herself, and love at the seasoned age of 73.
Shalhoub will portray Yusuf, a Middle-Eastern man who finds a second lease on life when he becomes invested in Dinah’s journey.

Wscripted has unveiled its inaugural Cannes Screenplay List of scripts in the English language to option at Cannes.
Wscripted is the first online marketplace for sourcing and curating excellent work written by women and women-identifying writers in film TV, and publishing. Five screenwriters have been given $35,000 prizes as winners of the 2020 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting, the Academy announced on Wednesday. The five winners are James Acker for the screenplay “SadBoi,” Beth Curry for “Lemon,” Vanar Jaddou for “Goodbye, Iraq,” Kate Marks for “The Cow of Queens” and Jane Therese for “Sins of My Father.” They were chosen by the Academy Nicholl Fellowships Committee from the 7,831 scripts submitted to the Academy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday revealed the five winners of its 2020 Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. This year’s five scribes, culled from 7,831 submissions and 10 finalists, will receive a $35,000 prize and be a part of an awards ceremony and virtual table read of their work on December 3.
As in past years, recipients are expected to complete a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year.

Do you ever feel like there just isn’t enough horror content surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday? Well then, I’ve got a treat for you. Blumhouse is releasing the next installment of their horror anthology series Into the Dark at Hulu entitled Pilgrim.
Based on a shocking true story: In an attempt to remind her family of their privilege and help them bond, Ms. Anna Barker invites Pilgrim reenactors to stay with them over Thanksgiving. When the “actors” refuse to break character, the Barker family learns that there is such a thing as too much gratitude.
This episode was directed and co-written by Marcus Dunstan (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), alongside co-writers Noah Feinberg and Patrick Melton. Pilgrim stars Reign Edwards, Peter Giles, Courtney Henggeler, Kerr Smith, Taj Speights, Beth Curry, and Antonio Raul Corbo.
