Ever since the shocking “Red Wedding” scene and the subsequent “Purple Wedding” one on the original “Game of Thrones” series, fans have come to expect that any nuptials on the franchise could lead to blood, violence or a major death. And in the case of “House of the Dragon”, they weren’t wrong to suspect that a royal wedding between House Targaryen and House Velaryon would end in horror.
“It was really, really tense, really, really deep,” says Theo Nate, who plays Corlys Velaryon’s son, Laenor.
As teased ahead of Sunday’s premiere, Rhaenyra’s (Milly Alcock) position as the heir to the Iron Throne was once again threatened. And as predicted by the Queen Who Never Was (Eve Best), knives came out as another shocking wedding ceremony unfolded. [Warning: Spoilers for “House of the Dragon”, season 1, episode five, “We Light the Way.”]

So, what exactly went down in King’s Landing?...

Hey there, everyone! I sincerely hope this finds you all well (or at least coping) and eager (or at least willing) to take on a new year. I love doing year-end lists. For me, it’s a time of reflection, as well as expansion. Since I started with Daily Dead in April of 2015, my horror-view continues to grow; I’ve been so fortunate to meet and speak with some enduring legends of the genre, not to mention strike many new friendships through social media. But what my continuing immersion in this greatest of cultures has provided above all else is an appreciation for the variety and depth horror has to offer. It really has been a great year; unfortunately, I’ve missed some goodies, but dammit, I tried. So, without anymore ado whatsoever, here are a few (okay, a lot) of my favorite things from 2016.

The release of Ron Howard’s Rush, one of the most anticipated (not to say mega-hyped) films of the year, inevitably begs comparisons to some of the great car-themed movies of the past.

It seems that automobiles have played key roles in films of every genre, from drama to horror to comedy to documentary. In some, like American Graffiti, Rebel without a Cause, and Bonnie and Clyde, the vehicles primarily help set the tone of the era in which the stories are set. In other films the cars themselves are the story. The animated Cars comes to mind, along with the Love Bug series, Christine, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. And then there are films in which the cars have taken their place alongside the human stars as film icons in their own right. James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5, for instance, as...

On Sunday, August 14, during the Del Close Marathon in New York City, an audience member, identified as Eric Angell, told an anecdote during the show Asssscat 3000 that many have perceived as a public admission of sexual assault.
After a lengthy description of the performance was provided by blogger Poupak Sepehri, a firestorm of controversy has erupted, from rape accusations to condemnation of the performers for not outright denouncing the monologist's actions.
At the August 14 show, an audience member volunteered to share an anecdote, traditionally expected to be humorous. According to Sepehri's account, Angell, a cook and host at Second City in Chicago, described an encounter he had with a female customer who expressed interest in one of the waiters at the theater. The waiter was uninterested, but passed along the woman's number to Angell, who traveled to the customer's hotel. Upon his arrival, the customer asked him to leave, but Angell insisted on remaining,...

With the movie out on Blu-ray today, Glen takes a look back at the classic Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen…
"A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it... it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting." - Michael Delaney
There have been few stars in the history of cinema that have achieved the iconic status of Steve McQueen. Known as the king of cool, his rough around the edges style saw him play prominent roles in some of the very best films in cinema history. However, having supported himself whilst studying acting by competing in races, and always favouring doing his own driving in films where possible, his one true love was motor sports and it was inevitable that some day he would make his own race movie. In 1971, Le Mans ended up being that movie.
