The magic is all on the stage is this lightweight review of catchy illusion. Jason (Joe Tyler Gold) is a budding magician stuck in cubicle-land as a cypher in the cyber-world of computer programming. His real talent is magic. No surprise he is good at it, since all of the key players in this film are real-life pros when it comes to performing magic. For those in the audience who love magic, this flick will be as entertaining as most. For the rest of you, give it a miss. Seems like magic is becoming a bit of a micro-trend in movies. At first there was just “The Magical Burt Wonderstone” and now we’ve got “Desperate Acts of Magic,” directed by Tammy Caplan and Joe Tyler Gold and starring Gold, Valerie Dillman, Jonathan Levit, John Getz and many world-class magicians.
