17,000 fans. The reunion of an American football dynasty and the coach no one expected to show. Televised live around the world while the reputation of a man considered “the greatest of all time” sits in the hands of savage comedians and one-time foes. What could go wrong?
But here we are, just days after Tom Brady took to the stage at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles for Sunday’s “The Greatest Roast of All Time,” and the walls are still standing. For decades roast comedy has been a beloved national tradition, once shepherded on TV by Comedy Central. It was a show that often targeted Hollywood legends or zeitgeist icons. It took the willingness of Brady, who holds a record 7 Super Bowl rings, to reinvigorate the format for streaming under host Kevin Hart. And not just any roast, which would typically be shot on a Hollywood backlot and edited ahead of its premiere.

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan and Amy Schumer also star, with Hugh Grant more than likely to steal the whole film with a turn as Tony the Tiger.

Blame it all on his roots and how he showed up in boots: Garth Brooks, together with his wife Trisha Yearwood, are launching a new docuseries for Prime Video called Friends in Low Places.
The series follows the couple and some “friends” as they set out to build the ultimate oasis — a honky-tonk in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. It’s set to premiere Thursday, March 7.
The plan is to open an epic, four-story bar on Lower Broadway. Those friends include Benjamin and Max Goldberg, brothers who are behind Nashville’s culinary and nightlife explosion; and Jenny Deathride Bratt and Camille Tambunting of Strategic Hospitality.
“This was so much more than I bargained for! With that said, what we have built is far more than just a business,” said Brooks in a statement. “This is by far, the craziest ride I have ever been on.”

NFL superstar Tom Brady will be taking the heat as the first subject of an upcoming series of new Netflix specials, Greatests Roasts Of All Time: Groat. Brady also will serve as an executive producer, with his own roast set to tape in 2023, following his next season in the NFL.
“To quote my good friend, Marshawn Lynch … ‘I’m just here so I won’t get fined,’” said Brady.
“We can’t wait to burn three-time Super Bowl-losing quarterback Tom Brady, who only went back to the NFL in order to delay this roast,” said Robbie Praw, Netflix Vice President of Stand-up and Comedy Formats. “In all seriousness, it’s a huge thrill to work with the greatest football player of all time on this project. No one’s better at taking hits and still coming out on top, so we know the roast will be a breeze for Brady.

Despite this year’s best efforts, 2020 will in fact still end at midnight on Dec. 31.
To mark the occasion, multiple broadcast networks are still planning to hold their annual New Years Eve specials on Thursday night as the ball drops over Times Square in New York City. But like everything else this year, those specials will see a few changes from their normal operations.
As in years past, the specials will feature some pre-taped performances as well as multiple locations from which they will broadcast, such as New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.
The most noticeable change will be the crowd in Times Square. Whereas the iconic New York location has held upwards of one million people in past years, this year there will only be about 150 invited guests in attendance. They are being called “The Heroes of 2020” and will be made up of front line workers, first responders,...
