Fans of the Peachfuzz phenomenon have reason to celebrate! After a week of mysterious teasers on social media, Mark Duplass has seemingly confirmed Creep 3, the third installment of the cult found footage horror series directed by Patrick Brice. In a recent TikTok video, Duplass (known for playing the enigmatic serial killer Josef/Aaron in the previous films) donned the infamous Peachfuzz wolf mask, accompanied by the simple message: Coming soon… Although Creep 3 wasn’t explicitly referenced in the clip, fans are abuzz with excitement. This reaction isn’t unfounded, as Brice had mentioned back in 2017 that a third movie was...

This announcement follows numerous cryptic messages from Duplass across social media platforms such as TikTok and X. The Creep Tapes is a TV adaptation of Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice’s own indie horror films, Creep and Creep 2. It’s heading to Netflix soon.
Actor and filmmaker Mark Duplass has made a TV series based on his own Creep horror films, and it’s coming soon to Netflix. Called The Creep Tapes, it’ll expand on the films’ found footage premise and continue their likeably awkward, blackly comic tone.
Released in 2014 and 2017 respectively, Creep and Creep 2 were both about filmmakers and their interactions with a decidedly eccentric character (played by an unblinking Duplass). To say too much more would risk spoiling things; we’ll simply add that, if you haven’t seen them yet, they’re well worth seeking out.
The Creep Tapes’ official description also assumes you’ve seen those earlier movies, so click the back button now if you don’t want to read potential spoilers.

Back in 2014, writer/director Patrick Brice and co-writer/star Mark Duplass teamed up with Blumhouse Productions to bring us the found footage horror film Creep – which was so well-received that a sequel, appropriately titled Creep 2, followed in 2017. Before Creep 2 was even released, Brice confirmed that a third film was in development and was meant to wrap everything up as a trilogy. Seven years have gone by and we haven’t heard much more about Creep 3 – but IndieWire has just broken the news that the Creep franchise is set to continue with a TV series called The Creep Tapes!
Created by Brice and Duplass, the first season of The Creep Tapes has already made it through production. Now it’s being shopped around to potential buyers.

Seven years after the release of “Creep 2,” Mark Duplass is ready to return to his dryly comedic found footage horror franchise.
The multi-hyphenate has announced that he completed production on “The Creep Tapes,” an episodic series that promises to introduce horror fans to a new collection of victims from the vault of Duplass’ nameless killer. The series, co-created by Duplass and “Creep” director Patrick Brice (who also directed every episode), is currently being shopped to buyers.
The first “Creep” film released in 2014 at the tail end of the found footage horror renaissance launched by “Paranormal Activity” in 2007. It starred Duplass as a killer who hired a filmmaker to document his actions for a day as a ploy to lure him into a dark trap. 2017’s “Creep 2” used a similar formula, with Duplass’ character taking a different name and working with a different filmmaker. Babe, wake up! New "Creep" sequel news just dropped! 10 years ago, Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice unleashed the found footage film "Creep," in which an aspiring filmmaker named Aaron (Brice) answers an ad posted on Craiglist by an allegedly terminally ill man named Josef (Duplass) looking to make videos for his unborn child to watch after he's passed. Aaron arrives to record Josef's "day in the life" videos believing he's doing something noble, but quickly realizes that there's something seriously wrong with the man who hired him for the job.
The film arrived seven years after the success of "Paranormal Activity" inspired an explosion of found footage horror, which at this point had jumped the shark in terms of practical believability. "Creep" dropped on Netflix and became a huge hit through word of mouth,...

Apple TV’s flagship series “The Morning Show” returned last fall with its third season and with it comes the show’s best cast to date. Can television have its own New Hollywood moment?
Much like movies such as Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate, Rosemary’s Baby and Easy Rider took the late 1960s by storm, a group of writers and directors are hoping that their own independent TV projects can break through and find their way to the small screen amidst the current Hollywood contraction.
After a number of web series such as Issa Rae’s The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, Broad City and High Maintenance were turned into TV series over the past decade, writers and directors hoped that this would lead to more.
However, the rise of streaming originals saw the business go the other way, with incredibly expensive dramas and comedies, often led by movie stars, taking over. This trend is now waning and a new generation of creators hopes that cost-conscious companies will now pay more attention to their projects instead.

Given its warm critical reception and past PGA and SAG Award notices, it makes sense that “Mr. Monk’s Last Case” has maintained a massive lead over its Best TV Movie competitors ever since we opened our 2024 Emmys predictions center. However, because the original “Monk” was never even nominated for Best Comedy Series during its eight-season run, the one-off Peacock continuation can’t exactly be considered a shoo-in. In truth, it faces quite a few strong challengers, including the laugh-packed Netflix offering “Unfrosted.”
Hours before its May 3 premiere, “Unfrosted” rose above its 100/1 Gold Derby odds and pulled ahead of both “Finestkind” and “Genie” to become this year’s seventh most likely TV movie nominee. Its next immediate challenge is passing sixth place runner “Scoop” (also from Netflix), which is currently a predicted nominee among our editors and experts.

Dozens of top Hollywood creatives and activists have signed an open letter in response to the shuttering of production company Participant — imploring the industry to continue to effect change through film and television as the defunct company once did.
George Clooney, Aflonso Cuarón, Ava DuVernay, Jane Fonda, Regina King, Viola Davis, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson, Color of Change president Rashad Robinson and more are signators, in addition to groups like GLAAD and Human Rights Watch. The letter was coordinated by the National Domestic Workers Alliance (Ndwa), which collaborated with Participant and director Cuarón on a visibility campaign for his 2018 Oscar winner “Roma.”

Actor and filmmaker Mark Duplass has found distribution for his independent TV series “Penelope,” with Netflix picking up U.S. distribution rights for the young-adult series. He made the announcement of the pickup for the self-financed series’ eight-episode first season on Sunday at SeriesFest. It previously debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.
The deal includes Mark and brother Jay’s production company retaining control of the property, including the decision over whether they will greenlight a second season. The brothers are also retaining VOD rental rights as they sell the indie series both domestically and internationally.
Duplass wrote the project over the pandemic and, in an unusual move, chose to self-finance and produce the show when he wasn’t able to find financing for its creation. He cocreated the series with director Mel Eslyn.

Penelope, the pandemic-written, independently financed and produced young-adult series from co-creators Mark Duplass and Mel Eslyn, has landed a distributor.
Netflix acquired U.S. rights to the series’ eight-episode first season, the duo announced Sunday while appearing at SeriesFest. Duplass called the six-month process of finding a distributor for the show following its debut at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival “insane” and told the Denver crowd that “a lot of people were very, very interested” in the series and thus “had a lot of different kinds of offers.”
“We’ve done independent films before, where you have a few hundred thousand dollars, and we go out, make the film and sell it. There really isn’t a model yet of independently made television where you make the whole season and try to sell it,” he said of the process of independently funding and then distributing Penelope. “From taking out the show...

The intricacies of a green card marriage are uncovered in romantic dramedy “Paper Marriage,” executive produced by the Duplass Brothers.
The indie feature is written and directed by Jeff Man, a longtime mentee of Jay Duplass. Man also leads the film as an unemployed man who agrees to marry a Chinese immigrant (Effy Han) facing deportation so she can stay in the U.S. Per the official synopsis, during the couples’ year-long charade, they tiptoe around each other’s differences. As quiet moments turn into clashes, they navigate through their awkwardness and are forced to learn to work together. This is Man’s feature directorial debut.

Before you make your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Drama Supporting Actor, take a tour of our photo gallery showcasing the men most likely to land in the lineup. Last year’s race was completely dominated by actors from “Succession” and “The White Lotus,” neither of which can produce nominees this time since the former ended last May and the latter won’t return until 2025.
Naturally, this category’s sole presently eligible former winner – Billy Crudup – has emerged as the frontrunner. Among his likeliest competitors are two of his own cast mates: 2020 nominee Mark Duplass and series newcomer Jon Hamm, who won the 2015 Best Drama Actor Emmy for “Mad Men” and is widely expected to take this year’s limited series lead prize for “Fargo.”
Other outside winners in the mix include James Cromwell (“Sugar”; formerly of “American Horror Story”), Nathan Lane (“The Gilded Age”; “Only Murders in the Building”), and...

Back in 2009, a horror film called Orphan told us the story of a married couple who adopts a 9-year-old Russian girl only to discover that she’s actually a criminal adult passing herself off as a child. The film was loosely based on the true story of Barbora Skrlova, a 30-something woman who pretended to be a 13-year-old and did some very twisted things that were very different than what we saw in Orphan. In 2012, a sad case that made it into news reports reminded people of Orphan. It was the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born girl with dwarfism who was adopted by American parents who began to suspect she was much older than records said she was. The Grace case has been covered on Dr. Phil and the docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, and now the Hulu streaming service is moving forward with a Natalia Grace-inspired...

“The Curse” has become one of the most talked-about shows this year with its idiosyncratic mix of cringe comedy, weird horror, marital drama, and sentiment proving to be a recipe for brilliance. The acclaimed Showtime drama series follows Nathan Fielder and Oscar winner Emma Stone as a newly married couple who host an HGTV show. They try to conceive a child as they navigate the effects of a curse.
Fielder and Stone’s performances propel the show to greatness and they are ably supported by Benny Safdie, who co-created the show with Fielder. He plays a desperate producer and while the role is scenery-chewing enough, it’s also a great role for filmmaker Safdie to once again show his acting chops, as noted by critics.

Cybil Reynolds may have experienced an epic downfall in “The Morning Show’s” third season, but the woman who plays her can’t stop rising in our Emmy odds. After hovering right outside the Top 8 in February and for the majority of March, Holland Taylor recently vaulted into eighth place in our Best Drama Supporting Actress rankings.
