This series from ABC News was billed as a limited series, so a second-season renewal isn't expected. Still, game shows have been around for a long time, and there's certainly more than enough material for another round of episodes if the ratings are good enough. Will The Game Show Show be renewed for season two? Stay tuned.

Normally around this time of year, the bleachers have already been erected through Pasadena, and hundreds of thousands of people are preparing to camp out on city streets to catch a glimpse of the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day.
It’s a tradition that dates back to 1891, and has only been canceled three times, during World War II. But now the Rose Parade has been put on hold for a fourth time, and plans for this year’s event — including the theme (“Dream. Believe. Achieve.”), royal court and selected floats and bands — have been rolled over to 2022.
In its place, the Tournament of Roses Association has produced a two-hour pre-taped special, “The Rose Parade’s New Year Celebration,” which will air at 8 a.m. New Year’s morning on Ktla in Los Angeles, as well as nationally on the networks that normally air the live parade: ABC,...

Luther is a legend in Japan, but sense he has seen better days and has less to work with than Kiss, why not let Kiss win? What about the ass? Oh, the match wasn’t good. Two more classic game shows are making a return to TV. ABC has ordered revivals of Card Sharks and Press Your Luck. Produced by Fremantle, the shows will go into production this spring. Hosts and premiere dates will be announced soon.
In each game of Press Your Luck, three contestants compete against each other answering questions to earn spins on the Big Board. Contestants then use their spins to win cash and prizes while trying to avoid the Whammy, who could take all of their winnings and leave them with nothing. The winning contestant moves on to the All-New Bonus Round to face the Whammy in a final battle for the chance to win a fortune. John Quinn will serve as showrunner and executive produce, along with Fremantle’s Jennifer Mullin.

It kind of seems like Bob Eubanks was meant to be famous since he was a child model and was enamored of the spotlight from a young age. He didn’t really get into the limelight until later on his life but he hung around the fringes as his interest continued to grow throughout the years. A lot of folks born in the last couple of decades probably can’t relate to his fame or why he’s important but those of us that have seen reruns of his shows or other appearances might very well understand why he’s a big deal. Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon’s upcoming collaboration for Amazon and Funny or Die might be one of the holiday season’s funniest media experiments. The duo, in character as local Los Angeles broadcasters “Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan,” will host a live broadcast of the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day for the streaming platform.
As announced by Amazon in an impressively sneaky press release on Wednesday, “Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan are no strangers to the Rose Bowl, having covered the event for the past 25 years. However, their move this year to Amazon from a local station will allow their fans from around the world to stream the event live.”

Remember when big-name stars didn’t want to do TV? Now they’re even clamoring for jobs as game show hosts.
Alec Baldwin (ABC’s “Match Game”), Taye Diggs (Fox’s “Hypnotize Me”), Jane Lynch (NBC’s “Celebrity Game Night”) and Anthony Anderson (ABC’s “To Tell the Truth”) are just some of the actors who now front major primetime game shows, in addition to their regular scripted work.
“You look at game shows from the 1970s and 1980s, they were somewhat cheesy,” Anderson said. “It’s different now. It’s a lot classier. It’s cool.”
Wayne Brady, who has hosted a “Let’s Make a Deal” revival for CBS since 2009, joked that “being a game show host was very much akin to being a local affiliate weatherman – and no offense to local affiliate weathermen, but there’s a stereotype.”

Chris Evans paid a visit to The Tonight Show last night to promote Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Evans didn’t give much away in terms of plot, but it’s not like the film– which opens in the U.S. this weekend– needs much additional buzz. We rarely associate hotness with game show hosting, but why is that? It takes bravado, rigidity, and charisma to run a good game show, and I'd say the same rubric applies to male strippers and So You Think You Can Dance contestants. In honor of the late Richard Dawson, the original host of Family Feud and an unforgettable Match Game panelist, I'll be tallying the hottest men of televised gaming. Please remember to phrase your cat-calls in the form of question.
10. Jeff Probst, Rock & Roll Jeopardy
Though he only hosted VH1's Jeopardy! spinoff from 1998 to 2001, Jeff Probst's dimpled cuteness and conversational hosting style were enough to substantiate him as a great emcee. Naturally he's better remembered for hosting Survivor for all of its 5,700 cycles, but he looked mighty fine standing behind Trebek's podium.
9. Richard Dawson, Family Feud
Richard Dawson was most known for smooching contestants and calling out "Survey says!

I hope all of you enjoyed a nice long Labor Day weekend. I’m happy to see that once again you were kind enough to make sure part of that extended weekend included your usual Monday night appointment with all of us at Bachelor Pad. Before I left the mansion after last week’s rose ceremony, I informed everybody that from now on they would be competing as a couple and would be voted off as a couple. This didn’t seem like huge news, but by the end of the episode you saw that it really was.

8. Chuck Woolery ("Wheel of Fortune," "Love Connection," "Scrabble"): Chuck Woolery was the original host of "Wheel of Fortune," but lost the gig to the smarmy wet blanket, Pat Sajack, after a salary dispute. Almost all of Woolery's episodes have been permanently lost, as NBC had a habit of wiping tapes to save money.

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of the Season Finale of The Amazing Race.Sorry for the delay in getting tonight’s post up, especially for those of you who are used to it being up at 9:30 Et. I’m still on the West Coast, so didn’t even get to watch the episode until it aired here. It’s Finale Night so let’s get right to it…
My Random Thoughts:
- The opening recap of the entire race was pretty much a 3-minute segment saying “Remember that Nick and Chad are both bad people.” The nifty little lingo that Phil used saying teams ‘sank, crashed, and clashed’ all showed video clips featuring Chad. And after seeing the watermelon smash one more time (seriously, I never get tired of it, do you?), we wrapped up Phil’s recap with the trademark eyebrow…now with a ‘ding!’ sound effect.

After 16 seasons, "The Amazing Race" finally has a two-woman team winner. Doctors Nat and Kat crossed the finish line first to win the race on Sunday, December 12 broadcast, thus making a history as the first woman-woman team to ever win the U.S. version.
The odds actually were tipping to this possibility for the final consisted of another woman-woman team. Home Shopping hosts Brook and Claire came second in the race, followed by dating couple Jill and Thomas.
During the final hours of their 32,000 miles journey, the three teams went back from South Korea to Los Angeles, California where they had to do a bungee jump off a giant crane in Port of Long Beach, decorate a float for the Tournament of Roses parade and play a trivia contest with Bob Eubanks.

Could an all-woman team win The Amazing Race? That was the big question going into tonight’s season finale. On one side: Nat and Kat, a brilliant and classy pair of doctors. On the other: Brook and Claire, twin dynamos of ridiculous energy. Caught in the middle: Jill and Thomas, the divisive (at least among EW.com readers) dating couple who have had a dominating run in the last few legs of the race. Did the ladies succeed? Was history made? Read on for the answer, viewers:
Hooray for womankind! And hooray for being classy! After a season of saying...

I love the Game Show Network. I realize this is a bold statement coming from someone (way) under the age of 50. But in the two weeks after I graduated college, I literally sat on the couch all day every day watching Gsn. I can’t help it! I’m obsessed with reruns of the classics ($25,000 Pyramid, Password, Card Sharks etc.), and I’m even a fan of some of the new shows (just try and give me a Lingo puzzle I can’t solve). So when the news broke that Carnie Wilson would be leaving her post as host of Gsn’s The Newlywed Game,...

The potential drama over "NCIS" cast members renegotiating their contracts turned out not to be very dramatic.
Sean Murray, who's been with the show since its first season and a regular since Season 2, has re-signed with the show for next season, The Live Feed reports. He's the last of the four regulars with expiring deals to re-up.
Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum have also closed new deals in recent weeks. Mark Harmon and Cote de Pablo were already locked in for 2010-11.
- Starz is developing a series about organized crime and hoping it can do something similar to what "The Sopranos" did for HBO.
The show in question is "Underbelly," an Australian series that dramatized a real-life crime war in Melbourne and was a critical and popular hit there. According to Vulture, Starz has bought rights to the show but is looking to adapt stories from American crime...

Project Runway took a near-philanthropic turn this week, staging a challenge that honored women affected by heart disease, and a runway show that shamed them to the nation. Shiny red dresses? Tacky Campbell's Soup iconography? The honorary models looked like reject Ace-flippers from Card Sharks, and I'm talking about the seizure-appropriate Bob Eubanks edition. Also, amid all the heart disease awareness, someone forgot to tell Bunim-Murray that this episode had an acute case of This Is Goddamn Boring. Time to tear it up!

Are you a newlywed same-sex couple? Want to answer silly questions and possibly win prizes? Season two of the Newlywed Game is looking for Gay Couples: *Marriages must be legally recognized in 1 state The show, originally produced by Chuck Barris, is now presented by eHarmony which last year was forced via an anti-discrimination lawsuit to create an Lgbt dating division called Compatible Partners. Carnie Wilson is the host who now delivers the slightly smutty questions, like How long is your husband's inseam? (One spouse answered: 7 inches) The original version, which aired on ABC from 1966 to 1974 with Bob Eubanks as the host, had African American couples sharing the dias with white couples. This broke down the color barrier for the daytime television viewer, so it would be really awesome if the show would have same-sex couples on with opposite-marriage couples,...

Former top TV studio executives Herman Rush and Joe Indelli have launched Creative Content Providers, a company focused on developing unscripted series.
The two, who are financing the venture themselves, have teamed with Bob Eubanks, former host of "The Newlywed Game," for two reality concepts -- talent show "Street Dreams" and a street smart contest called "Bar Room Brawl."
Creative Content also has enlisted veteran game creators Jim Keifer and David Hoyt to develop game shows "What's the Difference" and "Totally Recall," both based on memory and recollection.
Additionally, the company has partnered with veteran TV specials producer Gregory Sills and bowling alleys operator Lucky Strike for a reality game show set in the world of bowling.

To celebrate their 2nd year of marriage, most guys will take their wives out to a fancy dinner, present them with a nice, modestly afforded gift, and then take them home for what Bob Eubanks used to describe as "woopie."But not comedian Jay Mohr. No, Mr Mohr, who is evidently p-whipped on a scale approaching infinity, this year decided to give his wife a gift that will keep on giving. To wit, Mohr is adding the last name of his wife, "Unhappily Ever After" and "Vegas" star Nikki Cox, to his own.And while the host of "Last Comic Standing" would certainly draw many giggles announced as "Mr Mohr Cox," according to E! Online, Jay wi ...

Here come the Newlyweds!
Gsn is moving forward with its revival of The Newlywed Game, ordering 40 half-hour episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
But don't expect Bob Eubanks and all his whoopee-esque questions to take center stage. "Marriage has changed over the years — what couples talk about, what they fight about," said executive producer Michael Davies (Who Wants to be a Millionaire). "So there will be a lot of updating just by the fact of our casting. In doing presentations, it's become clear to us that wives today are far more vocal than in the previous episodes. There's just a lot of guys looking concerned that they're about to get in trouble — and usually they do. It's thoroughly entertaining."
In a new twist, Davies added that he is casting for "goldyweds" ...

Want to know Bachelor Number One's idea of the perfect date? Think you've got your new spouse all figured out? Those are the burning questions the Game Show Network (Gsn) aims to answer with its modernized revival of two game show classics; The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game.
Starting in 1966 on ABC, The Newlywed Game has enjoyed multiple runs that have spanned the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Most incarnations were hosted by Bob Eubanks whose dry, quick humor proved a perfect foil for flustered contestants trying to guess how their spouses had answered purposely suggestive questions.
The Dating Game launched in 1965 on ABC and enjoyed several runs through the 60's, 70's and 80's as well. Dating Game was presented by a number of hosts over the years, most notably Jim Lange. Like Dating Game, slyly worded questions were used to produce hilarious responses as contestants interviewed potential suitors.

GSN has tapped Kim Coles and stand-up comedian Judy Gold to host the pilots for The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, respectively.
The cable network is prepping new versions of the popular 1970s game shows, which are Sony-owned titles, that will incorporate modern elements like online dating sites. Michael Davies is executive producing both shows through his overall deal at Sony Pictures TV.
As for the hosts, GSN senior vp programming Jamie Roberts said this month that the network was looking for "unusual candidates to take these shows and reinvent them."
Newlywed often is identified with Bob Eubanks, who hosted most of the show's incarnations, though Jim Lange, Paul Rodriguez and Gary Kroeger were featured in some editions. Dating has been hosted by Lange, Elaine Joyce, Jeff MacGregor, Brad Sherwood and Chuck Woolery.
Coles is repped by Abrams Artists Agency.
Gold is repped by Rain Management Group.

ER and Friends wrapped their respective ninth seasons in style Thursday, driving NBC to its biggest win on the night since February 2002. During the weekend, the Daytime Emmy Awards flopped for ABC on Friday, and Bob Barker took on Chuck Woolery, Bob Eubanks and Tim Allen for CBS on Saturday. ER's season closer (21.6 million viewers, 10.4 rating/27 share among adults 18-49) allowed the veteran medical drama to nose past CBS' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to rank as the season's No. 1 drama in the 18-49 demographic (ER averaged a 9.6 in 2002-03 vs. CSI's 9.5). That made ER television's No. 1 drama for the past nine years, a first for any series in the genre, NBC said. The penultimate season finale of Friends (25.5 million, 12.4/36), which aired from 8-9:10 p.m., delivered the highest 18-49 rating of any program since ABC's Academy Awards telecast in March. It also earned the show's highest numbers since November.
