ABC has canceled freshman drama Emergence and sophomore comedies Bless This Mess, Single Parents and Schooled as well as the new Kids Say The Darndest Things revival with Tiffany Haddish.
This cancelations are part of a big round of renewal decisions at the Disney-owned network today, which included the pickup of 13 current series for its 2020-21 slate.
While the cancellation of Emergence was considered likely, bubble comedies Single Parents, Bless This Mess and The Goldbergs’ spinoff Schooled all getting the axe was surprising, especially given the auspices involved. Two other ABC bubble shows, freshmen For Life and The Baker and the Beauty, remain in limbo.
The coronavirus pandemic grounding Hollywood production and throwing the 2020 pilot season into chaos was expected to benefit bubble series. While ABC has only ordered two new shows straight-to-series, Big Sky, from David E. Kelley and Call Your Mother, from Kari Lizer, the network, possibly encouraged...

The Simple Life alumna Nicole Richie is returning to the farm in an upcoming multi-episode arc opposite Lake Bell and Dax Shepard on ABC’s Bless This Mess.
Richie will play Sierra Rio’s NYC Bff, who would probably tell you she’s from Brooklyn, but she’s a spoiled Upper-East-Sider through and through. And she cannot wait to host her wedding at Mike and Rio’s “super rustic, kind of gross” farm. Her character will be introduced in early February 2020.
Created/executive produced by Bell and Elizabeth Meriwether, Bless This Mess stars Bell and Shepard as a newlywed couple whose plan to ditch big-city living for a simpler life in Nebraska doesn’t go as expected. The cast includes Ed Begley Jr., Pam Grier, Jt Neal and Christina Offley.

ABC has picked up additional episodes of “American Housewife” and “Bless This Mess,” the network announced on Thursday.
Both shows will run for an additional six episodes this year, with “American Housewife” currently in its fourth season and “Bless This Mess” in its second.
“‘Bless This Mess’ has quickly become a fan favorite, due in large part to the expert wit of co-creators Lake Bell and Elizabeth Meriwether, and our incredibly talented and charismatic cast,” ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said. “This series exquisitely captures a witty and warm look into the close-knit communities of America’s heartland, and we are so excited to deliver more stories from ‘Bucksnort’ to the masses.”

ABC has picked up more episodes of comedies American Housewife, currently in its fourth season, and sophomore Bless This Mess. Each will produce six additional episodes, for what ABC calls full-season orders.
American Housewife had originally received a 15-episode order, which will now go up to 21 episodes and the show’s total to 97 episodes. The pickup is a vote of confidence to the comedy, which has been an utility player for ABC over the years and a solid Friday anchor this fall.
Bless This Mess was a midseason entry last season, so its Season 2 order was for 13 episodes. The back order brings that up to 19.
“Bless This Mess has quickly become a fan favorite, due in large part to the expert wit of co-creators Lake Bell and Elizabeth Meriwether, and our incredibly talented and charismatic cast,” said ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke. “This series exquisitely captures a witty and warm...

Freeform has canceled “Kevin From Work” after one season, TheWrap has learned. The workplace comedy starring Noah Reid and Paige Spara, wrapped its 10-episode first season in October with series low of just 120,000 total viewers for the season finale. The cancellation marks the first for Freeform since rebranding itself in January. Dramas “Switched at Birth” and “The Fosters” were renewed by the network last year. Freeform has opted not to renew single-camera workplace comedy Kevin From Work for a second season. The project, from creator Barbie Adler, signaled a change in direction for ABC Family (now Freeform) away from multi-camera sitcoms toward single-camera comedy fare. Kevin From Work, which premiered in August, centered on Kevin (Noah Reid), a young man who declares his unrequited love for his co-worker Audrey (Paige Spara) in a letter, believing he'll never see her again…...

It’s tempting to compare the freshman comedy “Kevin from Work” to “How I Met Your Mother.” Barbie Adler, a former “Himym” co-executive producer, created and wrote the new sitcom which debuts Wednesday on ABC Family. As a result, the two share a similar sensibility. But where the now retired CBS series almost immediately benefited from Neil Patrick Harris’ name and breakout character and the thrill of romcom courtship, “Kevin from Work” is devoid of both a big name — unless you consider Amy Sedaris a big name — and a sticky enough premise to compel people to come back again and again.

The best thing I can say about Kevin From Work is that it's awkward. Debuting on ABC Family on August 12, the single-camera comedy created by Barbie Adler is, as my video review above says, little more than a very slight premise and a thin collection of stretched-out jokes and setups. Picked-up for a 10-episode order back in March Kevin From Work tracks the trials and humiliations of a cubicle slave who said too much when he thought he was out the door and now has to…...

Washington, Nov 11: A new study has revealed that texting via cell phone can be good for a relationship, as it can increase intimacy by making partners more available and expanding their repertoire of connection.
However, at the same time, the study's authors cautioned that texting is devoid of important face-to-face cues, thus raises the risk of miscommunication and can cause damage to the relationship, Allthingsd.com reported.
The study by executive matchmaking service Selective Search also found that repeated texts from male partners was a negative sign for relationships and the men who rely on texting were seen as not taking the relationship seriously.

I wanted this so bad last year. The elevator packaging was one reason. But the main one was that whenever I've caught an episode on TV in the last few years it's made me laugh just as hard as it did when I was a kid watching its initial run. Airing from 1965-1970 Get Smart boasted a writing team that included Buck Henry, Mel Brooks and a young Woody Allen. As an antidote to the obnoxious machismo offered by James Bond and his ilk Max, the Chief and Agent 99 offered plenty of good humor and commentary on the the cold war and the human condition.
Besides all five seasons of the show you get hours and hours of extras done right.
The Collection includes:
• 25 DVDs in special collectors packaging
• 5 eight-page booklets with liner notes written by actor Dave Ketchum (Agent 13) and Alan Spencer, creator of the TV comedy series "Sledge Hammer!

Both projects hail from 20th Century Fox TV where Higginbotham, Copeland and Feldman Adler are based and landed at the respective networks after competitive bidding from multiple buyers.
