At their best, soaps are all about family conflict. That’s certainly what’s going on at The Bold and the Beautiful. Patriarch Eric Forrester (original cast member John McCook) is in a coma batting a mysterious illness and his son Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), who has power of attorney, doesn’t want to see his pops suffer. Other family members are opposed to Ridge’s stance. (The show’s not commenting on whether or not McCook is leaving the soap; his former TV wife Susan Flannery vacated her role as Stephanie in 2012.) TV Insider chatted with Kaye about this dramatic tale and about his 10th anniversary playing the part of the romantic designer. He’s a man of few words, but read on to hear what Kaye has to say about his “Bold and Beautiful” life. You and John have maintained since the beginning that this story isn’t about a fashion war,...

The leading ladies of “The Bold and the Beautiful” are not to be trifled with. The CBS soap is the youngest currently on the air (it debuted in 1987), but it has more Daytime Emmy wins for Best Actress than any other show currently on the air. That’s even more remarkable since it didn’t win its first Best Actress trophy until 2000. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is one of the show’s past winners for playing Steffy Forrester. Can she continue that tradition with another win this year?
The most awarded soap in the history of Best Actress is “One Life to Live” with 11 total victories, thanks in large part to the record six wins for Erika Slezak. That show went off the air in 2012 and had a short-lived online revival in 2013 before ending for good. “B&b” is next in line with seven wins, all of them since 2000, which means the...

The 2020 Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday, May 21, and they came with good news for Katherine Kelly Lang: she earned a Best Actress bid for playing Brooke Logan on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” But even though she has been on the show since it premiered in 1987, she has yet to take home the gold. Will this finally be her year?
For decades the television academy gave Lang the cold shoulder entirely. It took until 2013 for her to earn her first nomination — more than a quarter-century after she originated the role of Brooke. She contended for Best Supporting Actress that year, and in 2014 she earned her second nomination in row, but that time for Best Actress. She lost those awards to Julie Berman (“General Hospital”) and Eileen Davidson (“Days of Our Lives”), respectively.

Dozens of women have won the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actress since the award was first handed out by the television academy in 1974. And those winners represent some of the most legendary women and performances of all time. Scroll down to see every winner and who they were nominated against when they prevailed.
Arguably the most famous leading lady in soap opera history, Susan Lucci, only actually won this award once for her signature role as Erica Kane on “All My Children,” though it wasn’t for a lack of trying. In one of the most notorious losing streaks in awards history, she was nominated 19 times before finally prevailing in 1999, and with 21 bids she’s the most nominated performer in the history of this category.

The Daytime Emmys aren’t releasing the drama acting reels to the public as they have in recent years, but the academy has made them available to the press. Maura West is nominated for Best Actress this year for her performance as Ava Jerome on “General Hospital.” It’s her 11th career nomination and her fourth for this role. She previously won this category three times: twice for “As the World Turns” and once for “Gh” (2015).
Can she prevail for a fourth time? That would tie her with Susan Flannery and Kim Zimmer as the second most awarded actress in the category. Erika Slezak is the all-time record-holder with six. Here’s the scoop on what West showed Emmy judges.
