Paul McCartney is certainly used to receiving VIP treatment now. But he actually popped out of the womb in a room that was better than all the others at Walton General Hospital. Here’s the story of McCartney’s birth as well as a look at who his parents were.

One of America’s funniest actresses has finally gotten herself a new leading role in a comedy pilot and all I can say is “What took those networks so long?” When you have someone as talented as Eliza Coupe is when it comes to making people laugh and she’s floating freely in the wind, just waiting to be snatched out of the air, you don’t wait this long to build a show around her! Happy Endings was cancelled nearly six months ago; Coupe should’ve landed a new series immediately afterwards, even before USA Networks decided not to pick up Happy Endings.
In fact, it’s USA that has shown an interest in Coupe’s new comedy; they’ve picked up Benched for a pilot presentation. The half-hour comedy comes from writers and executive producers Michaela Watkins, Damon Jones and John Enbom, with Enbom serving as showrunner. Mark Gordon...

Former "Happy Endings" star Eliza Coupe has landed her next TV job, starring in a comedy project in the works at USA.
The cable channel has ordered a pilot presentation for "Benched," a comedy about a lawyer (Coupe) who takes a job as a public defender after her career as a corporate attorney comes crashing down.
Michaela Watkins ("Trophy Wife," "Saturday Night Live") and Damon Jones created "Benched," and Michael Fresco ("Suburgatory") will direct the pilot.

USA Network has given a pilot presentation order to Benched, a courtroom single-camera comedy to star Happy Endings alumna Eliza Coupe. The project hails from ABC Signature, the boutique division of ABC Studios launched earlier this year with Tracy Underwood at the helm, which focuses on cable, emerging platforms, off-cycle and lower-cost programming for broadcast networks. ABC Studios-based the Mark Gordon Co. is co-producing Benched, which will be directed by Mike Fresco from a script by Saturday Night Live alumna Michaela Watkins and The Groundlings’ Damon Jones. Party Down co-creator John Enbom has come on board as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Watkins, Jones, Gordon and Andrea Shay. Benched centers on Nina (Coupe), a dedicated, career-driven corporate attorney who has a very public nervous breakdown after getting passed up for an expected promotion and finds herself working as a public defender. Rupert Grint's American television debut in "Super Clyde" won't be airing any time soon, but CBS was kind enough to put the pilot episode of the show online anyway. The superhero-influenced sitcom stars the "Harry Potter" alum as the show's titular character.
"Super Clyde's" pilot, which can be viewed here, was put online at the request of creator Greg Garcia. He sent out an email explaining why he chose to make the pilot episode available to viewers. It can be read below:

TV networks and studios almost never make pilots that hadn’t gone to series available to the public. In a rare exception, CBS has put Greg Garcia‘s single-camera pilot Super Clyde up online. (You can watch it here.) The move is a result from a request by Garcia, who sent out an email tonight announcing the pilot’s availability. Super Clyde was one of two pilots Garcia had at CBS this past season, with the other, the multi-camera The Millers, getting a series order. Super Clyde stars Harry Potter‘s Rupert Grint as a shy comic book fanatic who discovers his calling after he inherits millions of dollars from his eccentric uncle. Clyde, a mild-mannered fast-food worker, is bequeathed $100,000 per month for the rest of his life, and — with the help of his butler, Randolph (Stephen Fry) — begins his thrilling new life as a superhero, secretly helping strangers in need.

Rupert Grint is currently promoting his appearance in Cbgb, but he came very close to being a CBS comedy star. Last spring, The Eye network shot a pilot for a single-camera comedy called Super Clyde, in which the former Harry Potter star played a comic-book dude who inherits a boatload of money from a crazy uncle and decides to become something of a superhero, giving help to those in need. Raising Hope creator Greg Garcia shot the pilot (which also stars Stephen Fry) at roughly the same time as The Millers; only the latter show got greenlit to series. But even though Super Clyde didn't move forward, Garcia and fellow exec producer Michael Fresco lobbied CBS execs to at least let folks see their finished product online. And, in a bit of a surprise move, CBS said yes."The worst part about it not ending up on the fall schedule...

Someone has made very good use of their magical powers by bringing Harry Potter‘s Ron Weasley to an American TV series. The news is as delicious as a trip to Honeydukes! Actor Ruper Grint has signed on to star in the CBS comedy, Super Clyde .
Raising Hope‘s Greg Garcia conjured the new series, which means it will be very funny. It follows Grint in the role of an average, run of the mill, hum drum fast-food employee who makes up his mind to become a superhero.
Clyde was described by THR as sweet, but “slightly neurotic”. I’m chuckling already. What are some of his issues? Well, he is always the outside. He adores comic books reader and is kind of “borderline agoraphobic”. As you might guess, this all causes some trouble with anxiety. Poor lad.
Things change for Clyde when he inherits $100,000-a-month from his odd Uncle Bill.

Terry O'Quinn as Gavin Doran in "666 Park Avenue" (ABC/Andrew Eccles)
ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.
Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.
It’s tricky to get a solid feel...

Considering the directors involved with the episodes of Suburgatory thus far, I had high hopes for the pilot when ABC sent it over along with a bag of upscale men's hygiene products (sorry, ABC - totally the wrong guy for that). Taking its name from a portmanteau of 'Suburbs' and 'Purgatory', Suburgatory has a superb pedigree on paper. Directing the first few episodes of the season are Michael Fresco (My Name is Earl, Better Off Ted, Northern Exposure) and Ken Whittingham, who has directed episodes on just about half of every network sitcom currently running (30 Rock, the Office, Community, Cougar Town). ABC's Suburgatory is a show that, whatever else it may manage, is going to have a lot of critics talking. A lot of them are going to love it, and I suspect a lot of viewers will as well, but a lot of them are going to wonder what the hell anyone could see in it. Either way, this is not a show that is going to slip past without comment.
On the other hand, it's also a show that may be in too tricky a situation to survive, no matter how many people are mentioning it to you. It's on Wednesdays following another popular sitcom, The Middle, and there is even a sense in which the two shows are somewhat aligned in their social commentary. NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

Chicago – NBC & Fox released their schedules already this week and there are a few interesting highlights, but ABC has released easily the most aggressive and ambitious new slate of programs, which will feature at least one new program five nights a week. Overall, they’re debuting seven new programs in the Fall alone, clearly trying to cement an exciting schedule before the mid-season instead of holding back programs for 2012.

As far as returning series go, “Cougar Town” will not return until 2012, allowing the promising “Happy Endings” to move into a great spot, post-“Modern Family.” (Thank you ABC. Thank you.) “Happy Endings” and “Extreme Makover: Home Edition” (which will be on Fridays now) are the only returning shows moving as ABC had enough to worry about with new shows and are keeping “Dancing With the Stars,” “Castle,” “Body of Proof,” “The Middle,” “Modern Family,...

W.G. Snuffy Walden has recently scored a couple of new pilots for the upcoming TV season. The crime drama Hail Mary centers on a suburban single mom living in Atlanta who teams up with a hustler to solve crimes. The pilot stars Minnie Driver, Brandon T. Jackson, Stephen Tobolowsky and Enrique Murciano. The project is created by Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Never Back Down) and the pilot is directed by Brad Silberling (Casper, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events). Joel Silver and Ilene Chaiken serve as executive producers on the project. CBS is expected to announce next week if the show gets picked up.
The Emmy Award-winning composer has also scored the pilot for ABC dramedy Good Christian Belles (originally entitled Good Christian Bitches). The show centers on a recently divorced mother of two who moves back to the affluent Dallas neighborhood where she grew up to find...

The Tudors alumna Natalie Dormer is set as the female lead opposite Chris Egan in ABC's drama pilot Poe. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures, is a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe (Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston. Dormer, repped by Icm and U.K.'s United Agents, will play Celeste, a beautiful spitfire, with a firm moral center - the logical yin to Poe's wildly theoretical yang. She owns the newspaper for which Poe writes, having inherited it from her fiancé who died in mysterious circumstances. Judith Light has been tapped for a regular role in ABC's half-hour pilot Other People's Kids. The multicamera comedy, written by Hunter Covington and directed by Michael Fresco, centers on Adam (Jesse Bradford), a 32-year-old guy with no responsibilities who suddenly finds himself with an...

TV and Lin Pictures, is a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe (Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston. The casting stems from Egan's talent deal with ABC. The actor previously played the lead in NBC's drama Kings. Also cast in Poe today was The Legend of the Seeker alumna Tabrett Bethell as Poe's muse. Jesse Bradford (NBC's Outlaw) has landed the lead in ABC's half-hour pilot Other People's Kids. The multicamera comedy, written by Hunter Covington and directed by Michael Fresco, centers on Adam (Bradford), a 32-year-old guy with no responsibilities who suddenly finds himself with an insta-family when he falls in love with an older woman (Bonnie Sommerville) who has two kids, an ex-husband, and ex-in-laws. Aaron Sorkin is moving back into television with a pilot about the cable news business at HBO.
Sorkin, currently an Oscar nominee for his screenplay for "The Social Network," has been researching a show about cable news for a while and reportedly spent time with Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews at MSNBC, as well as at Fox News and CNN. The show has a pilot order from HBO, with Sorkin and Scott Rudin executive producing, Deadline reports.
Backstage drama is old hat for Sorkin: Two of the three previous series he created, "Sports Night" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," were set at TV shows. The new project will probably also be at least partly about the political arena Sorkin dealt with on "The West Wing." The pilot will film later this year.
In other pilot news:
The CW already has vampires and demons on its schedule, and now it's going after zombies.

They join a star-studded ensemble cast led by William Hurt, James Woods and Paul Giamatti. The "Raising Hope" pilot is funny... or depressing... or both.
Disclaimer: These posts are not reviews -- shows often make tweaks to their pilot episodes between filming in the spring and their fall debuts. Full reviews will come closer to the premiere date.
What it is: Fox nails down an eclectic cast of familiar faces and newbies for a sitcom about a dysfunctional -- and yes, pretty trashy -- family that gets custody of a baby orphaned by capital punishment.
Who's making it: Gregory Thomas Garcia, the man behind "Yes, Dear" and "My Name is Earl" ups his off-color humor for a new network. Michael Fresco, who most recently helmed several episodes of the dearly departed "Better Off Ted," directs the pilot.
What to look for: It's a solid ensemble, but three really stand out. Newcomer Lucas Neff endearingly plays Jimmy, the disenchanted slacker who becomes a father after a one-night stand with a murderer.

Raising Hope is a new comedy from Emmy Award winner Greg Garcia (My Name Is Earl) that follows the Chance family as they find themselves adding an unexpected new member into their already terribly flawed household.
At 23 years old, Jimmy Chance (Lucas Neff) is going nowhere in life. He still lives at home with his family, including his Maw Maw (guest star Cloris Leachman); his mother, Virginia (Martha Plimpton); his father, Burt (Garret Dillahunt); and his cousin, Mike (Skyler Stone). Jimmy's life takes a drastic turn when a chance romantic encounter with Lucy (guest star Bijou Phillips) goes awry once he discovers she is a wanted felon. Months later, when Jimmy pays a visit to the local prison, he discovers Lucy gave birth to their baby, who he is now charged with raising. With very few useful skills but their hearts in the right place, will the Chance family be...

Chicago-based newcomer Lucas Neff and Martha Plimpton have been tapped to star in Fox's comedy pilot "Keep Hope Alive."
"High School Musical" co-star Olesya Rulin also has been cast in the project from "My Name Is Earl" creator Greg Garcia.
The single-camera "Hope" centers on Jimmy (Neff), a 25-year-old man raising an infant with the help of his quirky family after the mother of the baby, with whom he had a one-night stand, ends up on death row.
Plimpton will play Jimmy's no-nonsense mother who got pregnant with him when she was 16 and has no interest in raising another baby.
Rulin will play a smart waitress whom Jimmy considers the perfect woman to help him raise his daughter.
Michael Fresco is directing "Hope," which is produced by 20th TV.
Plimpton, who appeared in the two-hour season premiere of "Grey's Anatomy," next recurs on HBO's "How to Make It in America.
