There was no shortage of memorable moments during the 2023 Grammys, but not all were caught by cameras during the CBS telecast. From Taylor Swift sliding over to Harry Styles table during Steve Lacy’s performance to Beyoncé celebrating with a Champagne toast during commercial break, The Hollywood Reporter was on the scene at the awards ceremony to catch the memorable moments that didn’t make the CBS telecast.
After Beyoncé Makes History, Adele Rushes Over for Hello, Hug and Cheers
During a commercial break following Beyoncé’s record-breaking win — the singer snagged the trophy for best dance/electronic album for Renaissance, pushing her total Grammy wins to 32 — she received loads of congratulations and hugs from fellow attendees. Among those rushing over were Adele, a good friend and fellow Grammy winner (who notably bested Bey for album of the year in 2017 when 25 topped Lemonade). As she made her way over, Adele...

The Sundance Film Festival got a heavy dose of Steph Curry on Monday night, hosting the world premiere of Stephen Curry: Underrated with the NBA superstar in attendance as he received multiple standing ovations and a hero’s welcome in Park City.
The film — from Sundance vet and award-winning director Pete Nicks, Apple Original Films and A24 — debuted inside Park City’s Eccles Theatre to a capacity crowd that included Ryan Coogler, a producer of the film, W. Kamau Bell, beloved coach Bob McKillop and a handful of Curry’s teammates from Davidson, the Cinderella stars of March Madness in 2008, including Jason Richards, Thomas Sander and Andrew Lovedale, all of whom appear in the film.
Stephen Curry: Underrated is described as an intimate look at the NBA superstar’s “improbable coming of age at tiny Davidson College, where, under the wing of coach Bob McKillop, the team made a thrilling run in the 2008 NCAA tournament.

Is Steph Curry headed to Wakanda? Possibly!
The NBA icon fielded a two-part question on Monday night in Park City during the audience portion of the post-screening Q&a of his Sundance Film Festival title Stephen Curry: Underrated.
Part one: How has your faith inspired you to get to where you are today? Part two, directed at Curry and producer Ryan Coogler who joined him at center stage: Are you going to be cast in Black Panther 3? After Kolby Mac from Minorities Report got both questions out, Curry nearly doubled over with laughter.
“You tell him if we can see if we can shoot it in the summer and find a nice role for me in that universe — absolutely,” Curry said to lots of laughter from the capacity crowd inside Eccles Theatre. “You put the pressure on, and we’ll see what he says.”

After the final credits rolled and Nicole Holofcener had taken her place on stage inside Park City’s Eccles Theatre alongside stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tobias Menzies, the veteran filmmaker had a specific vision for how to frame what came next. Much like her films.
She made a point of calling herself “old school” by skipping an iPhone scroll and instead reading off sheets of white paper filled with the names of her collaborators who worked on the Sundance Film Festival selection You Hurt My Feelings. After all the shout-outs had been graciously delivered — she even quipped, “Did I hurt anybody’s feelings yet?” in case anyone got left out — Holofcener hoped they would all sit on the stage with legs dangling over the edge like they used to do back in the day.
While Louis-Dreyfus declined that piece of direction, she grabbed the first question tossed her way and...

Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins took the stage inside Park City’s Egyptian Theatre on Sunday afternoon to share the spotlight with author Lisa Taddeo, renowned intimacy coordinator Ita O’Brien and Couples Therapy star Dr. Orna Guralnik to talk all things intimacy for an official Sundance Film Festival panel, Power of Story: On Intimacy. But before he could go deep on the subject, Jenkins had to clear his throat with a compliment.
His partner, award-winning filmmaker Lulu Wang, is a huge fan of Couples Therapy, and she’s seen all three seasons (more than once), and she’s “slowly” been getting him to watch the Showtime series. Once he arrived at Sunday’s panel, he realized the moderator was the same therapist from the series, so he immediately texted Wang. “You have to tell her how much I love the show,” Jenkins said of Wang’s response.

The Sundance Film Festival raised the curtain on Theater Camp Saturday afternoon, presenting the world premiere of the feel-good mockumentary made by four best friends, Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman.
The audience inside Park City’s Eccles Theatre gifted the showing with a generous and heartfelt standing ovation and saved another for the surprise musical performance that followed the final credits, a rarity for a fest screening. The brief musical ditty featured eight young actors belting out a medley of tunes written for the movie’s musical finale titled Joan, Still. When they had taken their final bow, the crowd cheered and applauded like one would for a Broadway performance.

An emotional scene unfolded inside Park City’s Ray Theatre on Friday evening ahead of the world premiere of Cassandro.
The Sundance Film Festival selection from Prime Video marks the narrative feature debut of acclaimed documentarian Roger Ross Williams and casts Gael García Bernal in the title role as Saúl Armendáriz, a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso who rises to international stardom after he creates the character Cassandro, aka the “Liberace of Lucha Libre.”
Armendáriz turned up to the premiere in a flashy ensemble fit for both the ring and the red carpet — a multi-colored leotard, bedazzled tights and a blue satin jacket with dramatic train. Armendáriz, who suffered a stroke that has left him with limited movement on one side of his body and the ability to only string together short sentences, was overjoyed and clearly emotional upon seeing Bernal and the filmmaker.

Amanda Seyfried missed the Golden Globes because she was involved in a workshop of musical adaptation of Thelma & Louise, a rep for the show confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday.
The musical, which was in early stages of development in 2021, is being adapted for the stage, the rep said. Evan Rachel Wood is also said to be involved in the workshop. Her reps did not reply to a request for comment from THR as of press time.
Variety first reported news of Seyfried and Wood’s involvement in the project.
In June 2021, Thelma & Louise screenwriter Callie Khouri told THR about the “very early stages” of development for the musical. Khouri said the musical had director Trip Cullman (who has directed Choir Boy, Lobby Hero and more on Broadway) attached, a score by indie singer-songwriter Neko Case and a script by Halley Feiffer, an actress and playwright who...

There were memorable moments aplenty during Tuesday night’s milestone Golden Globe Awards, but not all were caught by cameras during the NBC telecast. Here are some memorable moments that weren’t on TV.
Fashionably Late: Rihanna and Aap Rocky Hit the Hilton
It was exactly 5:26 p.m. when an attendee near one of the back tables in Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom whispered, “Rihanna is here.” And there she was: The superstar singer — nominated for her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ballad “Lift Me Up” — arrived fashionably late in a Schiaparelli ruched ball gown and Cartier diamonds on the arm of her rapper beau. Will Smith’s Emancipation press tour rolled through Los Angeles on Wednesday as the Oscar-winning actor turned up to support the Apple Original Films’ release in a showing that marked Smith’s first major red carpet appearance since March’s controversial Oscar telecast.
Smith hit the carpet outside Westwood’s Regency Village Theatre just after 7 p.m., joined by wife Jada Pinkett Smith and children Trey, Jaden and Willow. The year was 1975. Elton John, backed by a barrage of No. 1 albums and hit singles, hit Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for back-to-back sold-out shows.
The concerts became legendary in pre-viral times, thanks to an electric set from John, then 28, who tickled the ivories and roared into the microphone while dressed in a shimmering Bob Mackie-designed Dodgers uniform, blue sequined baseball cap and oversized white glasses. John was the first act to perform at the stadium since the Beatles in 1966, and a superstar was born. “In October, 1975, no one was bigger than Elton John. He was like Elvis at the height of his career,” once explained Terry O’Neill, the photographer responsible for the iconic images of the Dodger Stadium shows. “Elton still is one of the most talented people I’ve ever met and he gave his all at those concerts.”

This one came her way for three decades of activist work in fighting the AIDS epidemic through her Diva Foundation, which has the historic shine of mounting the longest-running annual HIV/AIDS and health awareness benefit concerts in the United States. As the story goes, Colin Farrell was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2009 for the birth of his son, Henry, when he bumped into Elizabeth Taylor’s manager who was visiting the legendary star following a heart procedure. Days later, Farrell found himself thinking about Taylor and wanting to send flowers to wish her well on her recovery.
He phoned his publicist who reported that she happened to be staring at an orchid delivered for Farrell from Taylor. Thus began a close but brief friendship that featured many late night phone calls, continuing until Taylor passed away in March 2011.
Though Farrell did not recount those details Thursday night from the podium while receiving a special trophy at the Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS in West Hollywood for his commitment to the cause, the actor did offer a few Taylor tidbits, including her love...

On Monday evening, the biggest names in television gathered at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater for the 74th Emmy Awards ceremony. With so many A-listers in one room, most of the best moments — from star interactions to standing ovations — often go unseen on the live telecast.
The Hollywood Reporter was on the red carpet, backstage, in the room and at the afterparties to catch all the action. Here’s what the cameras missed.
Overheated: With an outdoor red carpet (which, technically, was gold) opening at 2 p.m., the Emmys felt the remnants of L.A.’s heat wave. Though Monday’s ceremony was considerably cooler than the Creative Arts’ triple-digit temps last week, press and talent alike still found themselves sweating as the tented venue ranged from 80 to 90 degrees. Fiji water buckets were carefully sprinkled throughout the interview area, but without fans and only varying shade protection,...

Not everyone was laughing as Jimmy Kimmel stayed committed to his 2022 Emmys bit during Quinta Brunson’s acceptance speech.
As presenters of best writing in a comedy series, Will Arnett dragged a seemingly passed-out Kimmel onto the stage, with Arnett quipping to the crowd that this is the “13th time in a row that he’s lost and he just got into the skinny margaritas back there.” When Brunson took the stage to accept the prize for her ABC series Abbott Elementary, which was her first-ever Emmy, Kimmel remained onstage.
Arnett tried to push Kimmel out of the way to make room for the winner, with Brunson telling him, “Jimmy, wake up. I won.” Kimmel gave her a thumbs-up but continued to lie down on the stage throughout the speech, and it wasn’t until after Brunson was done that Arnett dragged him back off.

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have broken up after nine months of dating, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The stars, who were first linked as a couple in October 2021, amicably parted ways this week, with the split attributed to distance and schedules, according to an insider with knowledge of the relationship.

Instagram is having an identity crisis. The once-cool social platform that helped usher in the rise of the “influencer” signaled an impending shift last summer when its chief, Adam Mosseri, proclaimed Instagram was “no longer a photo-sharing app.”
Citing the “stiff competition” coming from TikTok and YouTube, the executive said Instagram would lean into video and share more recommended posts from accounts that users don’t follow — the latter of which would work in tandem with the platform’s effort to promote Reels from creators not followed by users.
While Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, still retains the majority of digital advertising dollars, TikTok has surpassed both apps in attracting — and holding — its users’ attention on a daily basis. Julia Roberts and George Clooney are starring opposite one another in a romantic comedy, but they aren’t in love when they reunite.
“Worst 19 years of my life,” says Clooney’s character in the trailer, describing his relationship with his ex-wife, played by Roberts.
“We were only married for five,” she replies, which he then clarifies by noting: “I’m counting the recovery.”
The megastars teamed up for Universal’s Ticket to Paradise — marking each of their long-awaited returns to the romantic comedy genre. The trailer, which dropped on Wednesday, gives moviegoers a first look at Roberts and Clooney playing a divorced couple who come back together for a Bali excursion in hopes of stopping their lovestruck daughter (played by Kaitlyn Dever) from making the same mistake they think they made 25 years ago by marrying someone she just met and throwing her career away.
