AMC is building a franchise out of the Vampire Chronicles novels written by Anne Rice, a franchise that began with the first season of their Interview with the Vampire series. Last Sunday, they started airing a series based on Rice’s Mayfair Witches novels – a series appropriately titled Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (read our review Here). And during an AMC panel at a recent Critics Association presentation, executive producers of these shows revealed that they won’t be entirely separate. Viewers will see crossovers between Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches… which makes sense, since the Vampire Chronicles stories did become entwined with the Mayfair Witches series as they went on.
Esta Spaulding and Michelle Ashford, both of whom previously worked on Masters of Sex, are writers and executive producers on Mayfair Witches, and during the AMC panel Spaulding said there is one character who appears in both series already.

This Mayfair Witches review contains No spoilers.
Anne Rice has been casting a spell over horror fans for generations. While her Vampire Chronicles has become part of modern mythology, other magical creations sit in a darker corner. Mayfair Witches invites them to come out of the shadows. The AMC series is based on Rice’s trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and maintains the novel series’ spiritual nature, if not all the plot points, or characters.
Loyalists to Rice’s original unholy texts may worry how faithful the series will remain to the book series. Oh, ye of misplaced faith, Mayfair Witches commits only minor blasphemies. It restructures the storytelling for TV consumption, but maintains the atmosphere of slow metaphysical intrusions into reality. Rice’s personal style of horror doesn’t come from the supernatural incidents, but in horrors hidden in the mind, and the interpersonal relationships which can only...

Now here’s a bunch of hocus-pocus we can get into! On the heels of the fabulous adaptation of Interview With the Vampire, AMC and its streaming branch have conjured up an equally addictive take on the late author’s novels about a clan of enchantresses in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, premiering Sunday, January 8 at 9/8c. “It’s not quite as brutal as Interview,” explains Mark Johnson, the executive producer overseeing AMC’s burgeoning Anne Rice Immortal Universe. “It’s about family, who they are and how do you fit in?” Alexandra Daddario is impossible to look away from as Rowan Fielding, a San Francisco neurosurgeon who begins a search for her birth parents after the death of her adoptive mother (Erica Gimpel). Led to New Orleans — and terrified by the onset of some grisly new powers — Rowan soon finds she’s tied to not just an ailing woman...

Tim Blake Nelson is ready to put his dukes up for Bang Bang, an upcoming boxing drama from director Vincent Grashaw. Written by Will Janowitz (The Sopranos), the story focuses on Bernard “Bang Bang” Rozyski (Nelson), a disgruntled, retired boxer in charge of caring for his grandson. While making ends meet, Bernard encounters a chance to settle an old grudge, but he’ll need to show his kin around the ropes to come out swinging like a butterfly and stinging like a bee.
Joining Nelson for Grashaw’s hard-hitting drama are Glenn Plummer, Andrew Liner, Erica Gimple, Nina Arianda, Daniella Pineda, and Kevin Corrigan.
“This project hits the most personal to me. I grew up loving the sport of boxing, but the script tackled elements I hadn’t seen before in a movie; the aftermath of a troubled fighter’s career,” said Grashaw. “I found it an incredibly moving, tragic story,...

Did you think that AMC would stop at adapting just "The Vampire Chronicles?" We're here to tell you that is far from the case, as the supernatural trilogy "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" is about to come to the small screen. "Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches" has been in development at AMC's streaming platform, AMC+, for some time now, and we just got our clearest look at the adaptation yet.
The series, the first season of which will largely follow 1990's "The Witching Hour," centers around Dr. Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario), a neurosurgeon who unknowingly harbors some unusual abilities. When she finds out that she is the next in line to inherit her mysterious family's dynasty, she discovers the reason why they are so secretive; they are a group of powerful witches. If that wasn't enough, a sinister spirit by the name of Lasher (Jack Huston) has returned to once...

“Are you frightened of you?” Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) is asked by Cortland Mayfair (Harry Hamlin), her family patriarch, and the question is valid. The “13th Witch” of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches novel series is one of the most unapologetic portrayals of abuse of dark powers in literature. The first trailer from AMC’s Mayfair Witches has nothing to be sorry about in her introduction.
You can watch the trailer here:
The old Mayfair House in New Orleans is known for “murders, disappearances,” but it’s really famous for its witches, something many practitioners prefer to conceal. Rowan’s gifts are so strong, they cannot be hidden or ignored. Neither can Daddario’s wide-eyed journey of discovery. Everything she touches seems to transform reality. It is a family trait, which is only self-destructively irresistible to one witch every generation. Mayfair Witches will stream its first two episodes exclusively on AMC+ on Jan.

The title card that opens writer-director Eugene Ashe’s Sylvie’s Love (now streaming on Amazon) informs us that we’re in New York City, in 1962. That announcement quickly becomes superfluous, however — as soon as you hear Nancy Wilson’s version of “The Nearness of You” over vintage yellow cabs whizzing by old-school cafeterias, cigar shops and the Canadian Club sign in Times Square, along with the sight of Tessa Thompson looking positively radiant in a radioactively blue evening gown, you know exactly where and when you are. The heat is palpable between Sylvie (portrayed by Tessa Thompson) and jazz saxophonist Robert (played by Nnamdi Asomugha) in the new trailer for Sylvie’s Love. The romantic drama will arrive on Christmas via Amazon Prime.
In the stylish clip, Sylvie and Robert first meet while the pair work at her father’s record store in the summer of 1957 and the two grow closer through their shared passion of music and Robert’s admiration of Sylvie’s love for television. But Sylvie is engaged and awaiting her fiancé to return from the war.

An old summer fling is reignited in the new trailer for Tessa Thompson’s “Sylvie’s Love,” which premieres Christmas Day on Amazon Prime Video.
Thompson plays the titular character, a young woman eager to succeed at her TV job. When a man named Robert (Nnamdi Asomugha) takes on a part-time gig at the record store her father owns, the two soon develop a bond unlike any they’ve experienced before.
As Sylvie nabs a position as a producer’s assistant and Robert’s jazz career begins to take off, they find themselves headed down different paths. But all the changes don’t affect their feelings for one another as they come face to face during a chance encounter.
“I guess I just wanted you to be happy, even if I couldn’t be a part of your life,” Asomugha’s character says in the trailer.

God Friended Me has been canceled by CBS.
It's sad, but it's true.
The two-hour series finale is slated to air Sunday, April 26, and we're not prepared to say goodbye.
The official trailer teases some high-stakes moments that would make many people believe this is a planned conclusion.
Given the way the cast has reacted to the news, it certainly seems like these final two episodes were constructed to set up a potential third season.
What we can tell from the clip is that Cory allowed the God Account to be destroyed thanks to the virus, meaning that the gang has just one friend suggestion remaining.
On a show filled with happy moments, it's hard to imagine the account not being restored in some capacity.
Then again, a wild development could have been planned to shake the show up for a potential third season.

The project is directed by BenDavid Grabinski who co-wrote the script along with Troll Hunter’s André Øvredal.
Producer Adrian Askarieh and André Øvredal want to turn Enormous into a transmedia event by launching the web series online and a television show alongside the film adaptation, and explore how humans react and cope with survival from multiple points of views and from multiple settings around the planet.

After making it big with live-action web series based on the Halo and Mortal Kombat video game franchises, Machinima has now turned to comic books for new programming.
The online entertainment player paired with director BenDavid Grabinski and producer Adrian Askarieh and has a cool 10-minute pilot based on Enormous, debuting today (March 20) on the Machinima website, which you can see below.
Enormous is set in a post-apocalyptic world after a cataclysmic ecological event unleashes giant monsters that destroy human civilization, putting mankind at the bottom of the food chain (and under their massive feet).
The busy filmmakers took a few minutes out of their busy schedules to chat with us about this “big little” pilot. Askarieh phoned from Berlin, where he is on set shooting the Hitman reboot, Agent 47. “We are in our fourth week, and we just wrapped for the day, so I’m ready to talk about Enormous!
