Peyton List is waiting for the writers strike to end so she can get back to work on the sixth and final season of the Netflix series Cobra Kai – and once that’s done, she’ll be getting back to work on the Paramount+ series School Spirits! Paramount+ confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that they have ordered season 2 of the show, with filming expected to take place in 2024.
Based on a graphic novel by Nate and Megan Trinrud and Maria Nguyen, School Spirits sees List taking on the role of Madison, a student who dies at her school and is unable to leave as she tries to discover who killed her.
The first season ended on a cliffhanger, so I’m sure viewers are glad to hear the story will continue through another batch of episodes. The Trinrud siblings will be overseeing those episodes with showrunner Oliver Goldstick.

School Spirits is coming to Paramount+ on Thursday, March 9.
It follows the story of Maddie, a high school student who goes missing from the school.
Maddie may be missing, but her spirit remains, and she discovers there's a thriving afterlife associated with the school of all of those who died within it.
The series has a wonderful, talented cast and is bursting with emotion. The underlying mystery of what happened to Maddie provides a solid throughline for getting to know more about the school and its permanent (?) inhabitants.
We participated in press day to get a little insight into the show, but it's more of a tease. After all, we don't want to take away the joy of discovering the School Spirits' mysteries on your own!
Up first is a discussion with co-creators, executive producers, and siblings Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud, as well as showrunner and executive producer Oliver Goldstick.

School is difficult enough, but it's about to be more difficult for a teenager named Maddie (played by Peyton List), tasked with solving her murder.
Paramount+ dropped the official teaser for School Spirits this week, and it looks set to be one of the most talked-about shows of the year so far.
The trailer introduces us to Maddie, a teenager who finds herself dead, and her spirit is stuck at school.
Maddie has no idea how she died, but she can see the reactions from the other students in the school as she tries to comprehend how she got stuck there.
The minute she tries to step foot off the school grounds, she's taken back to the crime scene.
It's a compelling hook for a teen drama, and the official trailer makes it seem like this one is worth watching.

I don’t think I can fully convey the contempt that swept through this newsroom when Disney announced one of its launch shows for Disney+ was going to be “High School Musical: The Musical – The Series.”
First off: the title. The Cms for this website has a headline character limit, y’know? And that title takes up about 85 percent of it. A colon and a dash? Stop it. Second: Oh my God, another spin on “High School Musical?” Humanity really isn’t going to top Zac Efron pirouetting around a golf course in “High School Musical 2.” Third: end-stage capitalism. Are there no new ideas in this world? Disney now owns everything and now they’re re-franchising another franchise? Help. Fourth: the hashtag — which is, for the record, #Hsmtmts.
So imagine my delighted surprise when at 10:16 in the first episode — yes, I wrote the timestamp down — high school fashion queen...

We can no longer stick to the status quo because the trailer for Disney+’s upcoming “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” dropped during D23 Expo Friday, and we have zero chill about the first look at this ridiculously meta show.

And their school happens to be the same one where the movie was filmed. Yeah, see the meta now?

Exclusive: High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was among the highlights at Disney’s recent presentation unveiling its upcoming direct-to-consumer platform Disney+. HSM, one of only two Disney Channel originals for Disney+ showcased at the presentation and the only original series, is undergoing a behind-the-scene change with showrunner Oliver Goldstick departing after the first phase of production, I have learned.
Additionally, Sulphur Springs, a Disney Channel-produced series for Disney+, which had been casting with a blinking series greenlight, is no longer at the streaming platform, I have learned. It continues casting but as a pilot for Disney Channel.
These changes are indicative of some of the growing pains associated with a new VOD service homing in on its identity and a cable network in-house studio which has never produced for anyone else but its own network, Disney Channel.

Although the long-rumored High School Musical 4 has yet to come to fruition, we have news of the next best thing: a High School Musical TV show. Disney is rebooting the beloved series - well, technically - for its brand-new streaming service, and this time around, things are getting meta.
For starters, the show's name is High School Musical: The Musical, and it will be shot docu-style as the story plays out over the course of 10 episodes. And, if you haven't guessed it already, the students at East High who decide to put on a musical for their Winter theater production don't pick Grease or Guys and Dolls; they're putting on the High School Musical. Confused yet? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will follow the students as they "realize that as much drama happens off-stage as on stage." The CW has opted not to renew its new midseason dramedy Life Sentence for a second season. Star Lucy Hale just shared the news with her fans on Twitter.
The cancellation was foreshadowed by the CW’s decision last month to send the series from Wednesday to Friday. While Life Sentence had done Ok in delayed viewing and on-demand — largely because of the following Pretty Little Liars alumna Hale has among young viewers — it had struggled mightily in linear ratings, hitting a dismal 0.1 Live+same day in 18-49 before its Friday move. The show stayed at the 0.1 demo level in its outings on the new night.
“I was emotionally attached to this story and to everyone involved so I’m a little shell shocked right now, but I feel fortunate that we got to tell a beautiful story,” Hale wrote. “Sometimes things don’t resonate with the audience, and shows...
