The Harvey Weinstein survivors who experienced sexual misconduct and harassment by the now-convicted rapist have been awarded a $18.875 million settlement, as part of a class-action lawsuit, aided by the New York Attorney General.
The payments, which still await approval by the bankruptcy and district courts, will resolve two separate lawsuits — one against Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and The Weinstein Company, which was filed in Feb. 2018 by the office of the Attorney General, and a separate Nov. 2017 class action lawsuit brought on behalf of the group of women who were sexually harassed and assaulted by the former movie mogul.
The settlement comes as Weinstein is serving his 23-year sentence in a New York prison, three months after he was sentenced and found guilty by a jury for the sexual assault of Miriam Haley, a former “Project Runway” production assistant, and rape in the third degree of former actress, Jessica Mann.

Members of the Silence Breakers – a group of women who have spoken out about sexual harassment and abuse that includes several Harvey Weinstein accusers – reacted with shock and elation after the former movie mogul was sentenced to 23 years in prison in a Manhattan courtroom on Wednesday morning.
“This is a historic moment and it’s precedent-setting,” actress and Weinstein accuser Caitlin Dulany told Variety at the “And We Still Rise: Survivors Becoming Empowered” Silence Breakers conference held at the California Endowment in Los Angeles just after the sentence was announced. “23 years seems like justice. I was assaulted by him 22 years ago and I have lived with that ever since.”
Speaking outside court in New York, Weinstein’s lawyer Donna Rotunno said that the defense team is likely to file an appeal in July — a move Dulany told Variety she had expected, but added that the complicated and lengthy process would contribute to Weinstein’s punishment.

Validation, relief, gratitude and pride — those were some of the emotions expressed by a group of women who came forward with allegations of sexual assault at the hands of Harvey Weinstein in response to the disgraced producer’s conviction on Monday for rape and sexual assault.
The group of more than 20 women held a conference call Monday afternoon to share their reaction to the news earlier in the day that the once-powerful movie producer will likely face a minimum of five years in prison after being convicted on two of the five sexual assault charges he was facing.
“Today is a powerful day and a huge step forward in collective healing,” said Rose McGowan, who has accused Weinstein of raping her in 1997.
“The era of impunity for powerful men who rape people is over,” said Mira Sorvino, an Oscar-winning actor who saw her career derailed after allegedly rebuffing Weinstein’s advances.

A group of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged victims has issued a statement condemning remarks made by his attorney Friday night on ABC’s Nightline.
Weinstein appeared in a Manhattan court Friday for a bail hearing. Prosecutors sought to have his bail increased to $5 million from its current $1 million, arguing he violated his terms by allegedly tampering with an ankle monitor. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to allegations of rape and sexual assault. He’s scheduled for a follow-up hearing on Wednesday.
The ongoing legal battle appears to be taking a toll on Weinstein’s health. He looked haggard upon exiting the court house and had to be supported by two aides to make it into a waiting vehicle. That night, ABC’s Nightline aired a segment featuring Weinstein attorney Donna Rotunno, who maintained that anything her client did was consensual. After decades of being joined at the big-screen hip, Harvey Weinstein and his brother and longtime business partner Bob Weinstein split in late 2017 as accusations of sexual assault and harassment piled up against Harvey Weinstein.
However, the brothers were still linked in the courts. But that state of affairs for the Weinsteins, as well as several executives at their now-shuttered company and Disney, changed today.

After the much-accused Harvey Weinstein scored a win earlier this month when the Manhattan District Attorney dropped one of the charges against him in a criminal case that could find him behind bars for life, things potentially went to a very bad place for the once-powerful producer today.

Harvey Weinstein is making headlines again for allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. A new class action lawsuit against Harvey, 66, was filed on Friday, June 1. This lawsuit and a new flood of sexual harassment and rape accusations comes just days after Harvey was indicted for rape in another case and after his wife Georgina Champan gave her first public interview since filing for divorce. The new court papers introduce Melissa Thompson, who in 2011, met with Harvey to pitch him a computer software program, according to E! News. At the time, the now 34-year-old was working as a consultant at a technology start-up company, and allegedly, their interaction quickly turned south. The altercation began in Harvey's office when he inappropriately touched her during Melissa's tech pitch. While awaiting the start of his rape trial in New York, on Friday Harvey Weinstein was served with his third class-action lawsuit from a group of his alleged victims. Three plaintiffs filed the new complaint — obtained by Variety — in Manhattan’s Southern District, citing three incidents that occurred in as many countries, between 1996 and 2011. Charges including assault, civil battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent supervision were filed against not only Weinstein, but also his brother and former business partner Bob Weinstein; their first studio, Miramax; Miramax’s first buyer, The Walt Disney Company; and board members from the brothers’ The Weinstein Company.

Attorneys for Harvey Weinstein “used deceptive tactics” to get hold of video footage that purportedly shows the much accused producer sexually harassing a woman he later is alleged to have raped in a New York hotel room, a class action suit filed today claims.
The sometime graphic suit filed Friday from Melissa Thompson, Larissa Gomes and Caitlin Dulany doesn’t name Weinstein’s lawyers as defendants. However, the potentially multimillion-dollar case does cite the producer himself, the now-sold The Weinstein Company, its board, co-founder Bob Weinstein, Miramax and the Walt Disney Company as responsible and complicit in the decades of misconduct by the now-disgraced Weinstein.
While much of the suit citing the Rico Act and seeking a jury trial resembles language that attorneys from New York and Chicago’s Hagens Berman Sobe Shapiro Llp and Manhattan Beach’s The Armenta Law Firm used in another class action in December last year,...

Harvey Weinstein faces new charges of sexual assault and rape, after three women on Friday filed a class action lawsuit against the disgraced former producer.
The lawsuit states that Weinstein isolated the women “in an attempt to engage in unwanted sexual conduct that took many forms: flashing, groping, fondling, harassing, battering, false imprisonment, sexual assault and attempted rape, and/or completed rape.”
The women said in the lawsuit that they were lured by Miramax or The Weinstein Company employees and isolated with Weinstein in his office and hotel rooms.

Star Trek is pretty much unique when it comes to fan-made movies and episodes that pay homage to the sci-fi series. Left alone by CBS and Paramount (as long as they don’t try to make money from them) fans build elaborate sets and even bring in recognisable Star Trek actors to produce work that is anything but amateur.
The latest hoping to go into production is Star Trek: Renegades, co-written by Jack Trevino and staring Walter Koenig, Tim Russ, Garrett Wang and Robert Picardo among others, names that will be familiar to any Star Trek fan.
Jack Trevino is no stranger to the world of Star Trek. Having written the hugely popular fan-made miniseries Star Trek: Of Gods And Men which stared a number of Star Trek actors including Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols. The series was awarded ‘Best Web Production 2008’ by SyFy Portal which is now Alpha Airlock.
