Facing a murder charge in the Sept. 7, 1996 shooting death of Tupac Shakur, former California street gang boss Duane Davis received a little good news during his brief arraignment Thursday in a Las Vegas Courtroom.
The State won’t seek the death penalty for what authorities are calling Davis’ role as “shot-caller” in a drive-by shooting a block off the Las Vegas Strip that mortally wounded the 25-year-old Shakur and also wounded Death Row Records godfather Marion “Suge” Knight.

Las Vegas — It turns out that even in Sin City, some sins are hard to overlook.
The Palazzo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip is trying to evict a 10-month-old nightclub for shows it says are so raunchy that they violate obscenity laws. It says actors – some nearly naked – toss condoms into the crowd and simulate sex acts and bestiality on stage.
The club is seeking a restraining order to halt the closure, arguing that simulated sex acts don't constitute obscenity.
Casino officials "were well aware of our brand," said Sean Dunn, special events director at The Act, in an email statement, adding that representatives of the hotel-casino have frequently attended shows and did not complain.
Las Vegas Sands, which owns the casino, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Act remains open for business while a district judge considers its fate, but the fight over its future...

Greg (Eric Szmanda) Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) Db (Ted Danson) and Ecklie (Marc Vann) attend the opening of the Mob museum, officially opened by former Mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman (Oscar Goodman). Db does the rounds with Ecklie and then talks to Catherine and Greg about the two wives standing with the wife Joanna (Frances Fisher) of the hitman, Vinny Sapphire who killed their husbands. As the Mayor toasts all hell breaks loose as shots are fired shattering his martini glass and hitting him three times. Sheriff Liston (Barbara Eve Harris) also at the event wants Ecklie and Db to get to the bottom of this pronto. The CSIs compare notes and find shots were fired from two different areas of the room. Db finds the gun behind one of the dummies, a .38, as is the weapon of choice in a mob hit and the shooter would always characteristically dump the gun at the scene.

CSI is doing a mob-themed episode, thanks to the opening of an actual mafia museum in Las Vegas.
For an episode this fall, the show has cast Frances Fisher (Titanic, The Shield) in a guest star role, playing the wife of a notorious hit man. The episode will take place at The Mob Museum, one of two new mafia-themed museums opening in the city. (The first, The Las Vegas Mob Experience, is already open at the Tropicana; The Mob Museum opens in February.)
Also, former Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman will have a cameo in the episode. CSI returns on Sept.

New TV week ends for me tonight, at least until all the mid-season replacement shows start to replace the shows that somehow failed to attract an audience after all of three episodes, which is a little sad. It's all downhill from here, you know? Most of these shows will never get better than the anticipation you had leading up to their return, or their premiere. It's a sad realization, and the high of this week and all the shiny new shows you get to watch will soon fade to jaded and bitter disappointment as they fail to live up to your expectations and you'll either keep watching and be that person who keeps defending their crappy show to their friends ("Ok, yeah, the dialogue does suck but the story line is interesting! Sometimes!") or stop watching. Me? I tend to find a middle ground where I keep watching but don't bother defending the shows.

Her smug mugshot says it all, with a high powered and uber connected Vegas lawyer and a man about town boyfriend, Paris thinks her arrest and subsequent felony charges are all a joke!
Paris Hilton has become just as famous for her run-ins with the law as she has for her variety of business ventures and frequent red carpet antics, but has always managed to dodge any severe repercussions. This all came to an end however on Aug. 27 when the heiress was found with cocaine in her purse after being pulled over and has now been charged with felony cocaine possession. The only problem? She continues to behave as if this is not an issue — in fact, she claims she thought the drugs were gum!
“She had not seen it but now thought it was gum,” said an officer’s report. “She said several cosmetic items inside the purse were not hers.

Doesn’t the former playmate sizzle in her itty bitty bikini?
Holly Madison obviously doesn’t mind stripping down! And after taking a glance at her red hot bikini bod, I can understand why! Holly looked sexier than ever, posing next to the ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign for the Camp Vegas launch event. Joined by Wayne Newton, Holly helped Mayor Oscar Goodman offically kick off the start of summer in Vegas. Looking at Holly in her bikini, I doubt anyone cares that it’s technically still spring!

It's been a difficult time here in Nevada. A couple of weeks ago President Obama again offended the Mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, when he told people at a town meeting in Nashua, Nh, "You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices." Hearing that, Goodman said the president is not welcome in our state. Obama is due here on Friday. What will happen if he shows up in Goodman's city? Stay tuned. Our beleaguered governor, Jim Gibbons, saw fit to address the education and the ever-growing budget shortfall In a January 6 press release, Gibbons' office* said, "It's time to stop whining that education in Nevada doesn't work because of lack of funding." (*Despite...

Holly Madison may have to put her dreams of mayor-dom on the shelf, but it looks like she'll do well in Vegas without it. Now that she's rising to success with her Peepshow appearances, this former Girls Next Door star has been catapulted to headlining acts in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Being a regular on their red carpet events, it's only a matter of time before Holly Madison becomes this renowned representative of the city. Even Las Vegas' Mayor Oscar Goodman seems to think she's just perfect in characterizing the place.
