The Oscars fell short in many ways and as my father Abe Vigoda said the Oscars have earned, 'one demerit.' " Vigoda, who's death had been falsely reported numerous times,...

Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have teamed up to bring us the Godfather Monopoly board game! I'm not a big fan of board games, and I don't play Monopoly, but I might actually want to play this. Does the fact that the game is Godfather themed make a differece? Hell yes it does! Will you be picking yourself up the game?
Here's the Press Release with all of the details:
It’s not personal, it’s business as you systematically eliminate your opponents to reign supreme in this classic Monopoly game with a Godfather twist. Produced by Usaopoly, under license from Hasbro and Paramount Licensing, this collector’s game celebrates the 40th anniversary of the release of one of the most seminal films of our time.
Reminisce and relive The Godfather story anew as you play America’s favorite game with a killer instinct the Don would respect. Expand your family...

Godfather III no longer most embarrassing episode in legendary franchise.
The first instinct toward any merchandising that further commercializes The Godfather, among the best and most iconic films in the history of American cinema, is reflexive outrage. This is the emotion exhibited by your Criminal Complex honcho Jimmy Callaway as he doled this story out to me this very evening.
I felt a little of that, too, I must admit. But upon further reflection, I have come to the conclusion that this an about-face back in the right direction. Think about it. They’re basing a board game on a movie. That’s how things were done when I was a kid. It beats the hell out of the more recent and disturbing trend of using board games and toys like Battleship and Transformers as source material. Now that’s an outrage. Even if it’s a lame Monopoly, I...

Turning a board game like "Battleship" into a feature film didn't work out all that well for Hasbro, so what about trying something in the other direction? USAopoly, in conjunction with Hasbro and Paramount Pictures, will debut a new version of the famed board game Monopoly based on "The Godfather."
"Reminisce and relive 'The Godfather' story anew as you play America’s favorite game with a killer instinct the Don would respect," reads a press release announcing the game. "Expand your family’s interests by amassing property and influence as you seek to bankrupt those around you." Because nothing says "family game night" like cutthroat mafia tactics and potential knee-capping.
"The Godfather" version of Monopoly features all the accoutrements of the Francis Ford Coppola film: game pieces range from a can of Genco olive oil to a horse head (true), while players can purchase everything from Moe Green...

Mobsters have stormed the boardwalk. USAopoly, in collaboration with Paramount and Hasbro, has introduced a Monopoly gamed based on "The Godfather," replacing Uncle Pennybags with Vito and Michael Corleone. The original Monopoly game is all about aggregating wealth and property, and then taking more from your rivals. So it's the Mafia, without the murder or the pasta. Some of the new properties include Moe Green's Casino, Hyman Roth's home and the Corleone Long Island Home -- all recognizable haunts to diehard fans of Francis Ford Coppola's films (or Mario Puzo's novel). New York — On Wednesday, while premiering their video for "Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" on MTV.com, the Red Hot Chili Peppers said they decided to scrap the version of the video that was originally directed by Bay Area rapper Kreayshawn — she of "Gucci Gucci" fame — and go with something that they felt was more "them." If the news caused any damage to the budding female Mc's ego, it didn't show last night. She was warmly embraced by a Big Apple crowd at the Highline Ballroom, her first official performance in New York City.
Diminutive and wiry, Kreayshawn burst onto the stage at 10:45, after the audience was treated to opening sets by rappers Moe Green, Roach Gigz, Phony Ppl and finally, Smoke Dza. Despite the openers, the energy in the venue initially remained icy.

Pianos and film? Like ebony and ivory, they come together in perfect harmony. Let's hit it
The grand piano. The concert piano. The clavichord. The Casio keyboard. We're all familiar with the many kinds of ivory we can tickle, and it's no coincidence that the film-makers of this world are too. They've been pushing our emotional pedals for decades, using the old Joanna not just to entertain us but to scare us, amuse us – even to seduce us.
The mere physical presence of a piano suggests someone is either going to play it, attempt to play it, or attempt to get laid on it. Or compose some sort of masterpiece on it. Or just get it up some stairs. Yup, put a piano in a scene and film greets music like the intimate old friends they are. Characters talk, emotions are unleashed, and sometimes there's even an impromptu singsong. And...
