Writers Association of NY Silver Key Awards, 1964 and 1972) for LA's Lansdale and Carson/Roberts companies, then NY's Papert, Koening, Lois agency. Also managing editor of Eros Magazine, 1962 -1963, which, no doubt, inspired his later contributions to the nude musical, "Oh, Calcutta" (1972). Achieved national acclaim with his bestseller, "How to Be a Jewish Mother", in 1964. This was followed by "Scoring: A Sexual Memoir", 1972; "Something's There: My Adventures in the Occult", 1976; and "Confessions of a Pregnant Father", 1987. - Dan Greenburg is an American author, screenwriter, humorist, playwright, journalist, and actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois (June 20, 1936), got his BFA at University of Illinois (1958), his MFA at UCLA (1960). Award-winning ad writer at NYC's Papert Koenig Lois (1963-4). Wrote 72 books published in 24 countries, including bestsellers How to be a Jewish Mother, How to Make Yourself Miserable, How to Avoid Love and Marriage, Love Kills, Exes; including 4 series of children's books: The Zack Files, Secrets of Dripping Fang, Maximum Boy, Weird Planet. His movies include: Private Lessons, Private School (both on Variety's list of all-time top grossing indie films), William Friedkin's The Guardian, and Elvis Presley's Live a Little, Love a Little. He co-authored Broadway hits Oh, Calcutta! and Free to be You and Me, Off-Broadway one-acts Arf! and The Great Airplane Snatch, Convention, and Restaurant. He's written 150 humor pieces for The New Yorker, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Huffington Post, NY Times Magazine, NY Times Book Review, New York Magazine, Time, Life, Newsweek, Playboy, Ms, many others. As an author he's appeared on Today Show, Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, Larry King Live. As a comedian he's appeared on Dick Cavet Show, David Frost Show, and at the NY Improv. His adventures include riding with NYC firemen, NYC homicide cops, interviewing inmates of maximum security prisons in their cells, flying upside-down with a stunt pilot, swimming with humpback whales, taming Bengal tigers, and acting in 10 speaking scenes in Frank Perry's film, Doc--one of these opposite Faye Dunaway. His first wife (7 years) was writer-director Nora Ephron; his second (10 years) was writer-editor Suzanne O'Malley; his present wife (20 years) is children's author Judith Greenburg.
