Jerusalem — Ask Israelis what has taken hold of their country — which has been paralyzed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “legislative blitz” and the massive protests it has triggered — and they’re more likely to reply with a sound than with an actual word. A grunt, or a long, drifting whistle. Very often, a deep sigh. A nervous titter accompanied by a shrug.
For most Israelis, there are no words to describe the consuming fear that, as former Mossad director Tamir Pardo puts it, the country is “on the verge of collapse.

The rooftop terrace of Hollywood’s Neuehouse was abuzz Thursday night at a fete celebrating Scripted Israel, a social summit promoting Israeli television on the global stage. The inaugural four-day event, which ran Sept. 19-21, paired 28 Israeli delegates – selected by partners at Jerusalem’s esteemed Sam Spiegal Series Lab and the Israeli Producers Association – with development and content executives in Hollywood, serving as a de facto workshop experience for TV writers and producers angling to make their splash Stateside.

After helping to reinvigorate the indie film scene in the aughts with his particular brand of mumblecore, Mark Duplass helmed Cyrus, Jeff, Who Lives at Home, and The Do-Deca-Pentathlon in consecutive years but hasn’t directed a movie since 2012. With Togetherness and Room 104, not mention a plethora of acting projects, he’s stayed busy since then but he’s now set to finally return to feature filmmaking.
THR reports he’s set to direct an adaptation of A Horse Walks Into a Bar, David Grossman’s 2014 short novel, which won the Man Booker International Prize. A Village Roadshow Pictures production, the story tells the life of a stand-up comic, as revealed in the course of one evening’s performance. Village Roadshow Pictures has optioned David Grossman’s prize-winning novel “A Horse Walks Into A Bar” to develop into a feature film.
The company will produce the project with Veritas Entertainment Group. The short novel is about the life of a stand-up comic, as revealed in the course of one evening’s performance. The book is narrated by a retired district court judge who is invited out of the blue by a local comedian to attend his show, a stand-up routine in a bar. The judge and the comedian, who trades on divisive and offensive jokes, knew each other as boys but have had no contact for over 40 years.

CBS says the man who unsuccessfully tried to enlist the support of Lucie Arnaz in what he claimed was a relaunch of Desilu Studios actually was attempting to use her famous name to “induce unwitting investors” in a shell company.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from Lifetime’s remake of “The Bad Seed.” For a non-spoilers take, check out IndieWire’s review.]
In 1956, “The Bad Seed” set the standard for cute kids gone bad on the big screen, tapping into the fear that maybe sweet little Jenny isn’t so innocent after all — that evil is born, not made. It was the antidote to the Patty Dukes and Shirley Temples that had dotted the media, and paved the way for future movies of its kind like “The Good Son” and “Orphan.”
Lifetime’s remake of Mervyn LeRoy’s classic follows the general structure of the original film but gender-flips the single parent, casting Rob Lowe as dad David Grossman, who begins to have uneasy suspicions about his perfect little girl Emma (Mckenna Grace) after an unforeseen tragedy occurs. The film also changes out the gardener/caretaker, who in the original film saw through the little girl’s facade,...

“Basket of kisses! Basket of kisses! Basket of kisses!”
This saccharine phrase heard in Lifetime’s “The Bad Seed” remake is a haunting holdover from Mervyn LeRoy’s classic 1956 psychological thriller. Delivered with just the right amount of false cheer by the titular murderous child Emma Grossman (McKenna Grace), the line is made even creepier because she’s actually practicing saying it in front of a mirror, followed by a calculated smile.
It’s frightening, it’s silly, and it’s exactly the type of camp that’s expected — nay, craved — from the Lifetime remake machine. Sadly, that’s the best part of the entire movie, and it was already blown in the teaser trailer
Rob Lowe executive produces and directs this update of “The Bad Seed,” in which he also stars as the gender-flipped single parent David Grossman who suspects his overachieving “honey bear” is a little off following a tragedy.

Rob Lowe executive produces and directs this update of “The Bad Seed,” in which he also stars as the gender-flipped single parent David Grossman who suspects his overachieving “honey bear” is a little off following a tragedy.

Twitter’s content-partnerships team continues to get reshuffled: The company has appointed Sarah Rosen as its new head of U.S. entertainment partnerships, following the exit of David Grossman.
It’s the latest management change in Twitter’s global content partnerships group, led by VP Kay Madati, which in June shifted to a regional management structure rather than one organized around content verticals.
A Twitter rep confirmed Grossman was leaving the company but did not provide additional details on the circumstances of his departure. An email to Grossman resulted in an autoreply message directing inquiries to Rosen; reached via direct message on Twitter, Grossman declined to comment.
Grossman, a four-and-a-half-year Twitter veteran, had been heading up U.S. entertainment partnerships, reporting to Laura Froelich (formerly global director of sports content partnerships); under the prior structure he had been global head of entertainment. Twitter has filled some key roles in its reorganized content partnerships group in the U.S. — promoting company insiders instead of outside hires.
In June, Twitter’s global content partnerships group, led by VP Kay Madati, shifted to a regional management structure rather than one organized around content verticals.
With the reorg, global video-partnerships head Todd Swidler and global head of news Peter Greenberger left Twitter. Laura Froelich — formerly global director of sports content partnerships — was moved into the new role of head of U.S. partnerships, while David Grossman, formerly Twitter’s global head of entertainment, is now head of U.S. entertainment (reporting to Froelich).
Now Froelich has picked two other lieutenants: Tj Adeshola as head of U.S. sports and Nick Sallon as head of U.S. news.
Adeshola will lead all U.S. sports partnerships at Twitter, after spending the previous few years managing Twitter’s partnerships with major U.

“Frasier” fans were listening on Wednesday when news broke that the sitcom could be returning — and as it turns out, some of them were choking on those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
Following reports that “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer, who played Dr. Frasier Crane on the beloved comedy from 1993 to 2004, is exploring a potential reboot, fans of the original show offered their thoughts on social media.
While there was no shortage of enthusiasts eager to see a return of the series, others expressed their reservations about the idea.

Of the naysayers, a significant portion felt that any potential reboot would be missing a key component in the form of John Mahoney, who played gruff family patriarch Martin Crane on the original series, and who died in February at age 77.

A former Bloomberg media executive hired a year ago to head Twitter’s live video business unit is departing in a restructuring of the platform’s content-partnerships group.
Todd Swidler was hired last May to handle the business side of Twitter’s live video efforts, working with such programming partners as Disney/ESPN, Mlb and BuzzFeed. That team is now being disbanded and will be incorporated into the broader content partnerships team.
The change is part of a larger reorganization announced this morning by Kay Madati, Twitter’s head of content partnerships. According to a staff memo obtained by Variety, the global content partnerships team will be restructured into regions: the U.S., Latin America/Canada; Europe/Middle East/Africa; Japan/Korea; and Asia-Pacific.
The announcement is consistent with a strategy CEO Jack Dorsey outlined in a keynote last month at Consensus 2018, a blockchain technology summit in New York City.

Twitter Reorgs Content-Partnerships Group, Folds Live-Video Team Into Regional Structure (Exclusive)
Twitter has disbanded the live-video business unit responsible for deals with programming partners like Disney/ESPN, Mlb and BuzzFeed, moving to consolidate those functions under its content-partnerships team, Variety has learned.
The move is part of a larger reorganization under Kay Madati, Twitter’s global head of content partnerships, to adopt a regional management structure rather than the previous one based on categories like news, sports and live video.
Madati announced the changes in an internal memo Monday, which was obtained by Variety. Under the new structure, the global content partnerships team will be run by execs for five regions — the U.S.; Latin America/Canada; Europe/Middle East/Africa; Japan/Korea; and Asia-Pacific — each reporting directly to Madati, who joined the company last fall from Bet.
A Twitter rep confirmed the changes. In a statement, the company positioned the restructuring as a way to streamline its content strategy.

“That’s just so goddamn cool.” Those are the only words spoken in a teaser for the upcoming fourth and (previously announced) final season of Syfy’s 12 Monkeys. The network said today the 11-episode season will run over the course of four weeks, with three episodes airing from 8-11 Pm Fridays beginning June 15, culminating in a two-part finale from 9-11 Pm Friday, July 6.
Originally envisioned as a four-part story, in Season 4 James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) set out on an epic quest, traveling further back in time than they’ve ever been before. According to legend, their only hope lies with a weapon capable of stopping the Witness for good. But they’ll soon discover that in order to win the final battle and save time itself, they will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Can't you just picture the inscription on a certain mighty Martian marine's tombstone?
"Here lies Badass Bobbie Draper. She was always spoiling for a fight. If she'd only heeded the age-old Earth adage: 'Be careful what you wish for, because you mIght get it," she might've lived a little longer.
No amount of mixed-martial arts or combat training looks enough to save Bobbie — lying wounded on Ganymede's surface with a cracked helmet — from whatever the hell that sentient being is, standing above her and looking seriously pissed off.
Bobbie Draper's apparent demise, along with the deaths of her comrades in her unit and aboard the Martian military ship, the Scirroco, was one of several threads featured on The Expanse Season 2 Episode 6.
There were so many, in fact, this may have been the series' most ambitious, if not stellar, hour. It went down like an overstuffed burger with everything on it — tantalizingly juicy and delicious looking,...

There are four new documentaries that, while timed for Oscar votes, have a much bigger target audience: The American voters. These urgently topical films peel away decades of mythology, propaganda, and misinformation to reveal why so many people in this country are not only incarcerated in our thriving prison economy, but function inside prisons of misguided perception.
It’s easy to see why the New York Film Festival picked Ava DuVernay’s “13th” as its first-ever documentary opening-night film. Though the long-running animated series "Futurama" may be over for good, the team of writers and creators behind the upcoming mobile game based on the franchise are relying fans with callbacks to various classic episodes and gags.
"Futurama: A Game of Drones: is a free-to-play match-four puzzle game for casual gamers and writer David Grossman, who also worked on the popular "The Secret of Monkey Island" and "The Wolf Among Us" titles, tells Gamespot that they aimed to capture the humor from the show but still had to shift things around for the new medium:
"Futurama has always used a lot of parody and satire, and we're more than happy to have an opportunity to add more. The one peculiar additional goal we have that the writers of the TV show did not is to bring meaning to the play of the game, wrapping the mechanics up into the Futurama universe to connect everything together.

Compared to Beer Bad, the last wretched instalment of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it's inevitable that Wild At Heart will seem like a work of genius in comparison. Established writer Marti Noxon is putting pen to paper. Spike's back for a nanosecond. And most importantly, it's the last episode to feature Oz as a regular. So what can possibly go wrong?
Well, on the surface, not a lot – providing you don't think about it too much. If you're prone to blubbing like Ian Beale, then it's a fair bet you'll be weeping buckets by the time that Oz has driven off in his van into a life of meditation and mystical charms. The story goes that Seth Green wanted to leave the show to pursue a film career – so the writers of Buffy had to find a credible reason for breaking up one of the show's most enduring couples, Willow and Oz.

The story goes that Seth Green wanted to leave the show to pursue a film career – so the writers of Buffy had to find a credible reason for breaking up one of the show's most enduring couples, Willow and Oz.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack may be massively popular all over the globe, but it's always set my teeth on edge. As it happens, I know why this is the case – it can be traced all the way back to 1994 when I'd just started university. The girl in the campus room above happened to be a fan of Rocky Horror and would play the wretched thing over and over until the tape became time warped. And to that day, whenever a Rocky Horror song has come on the radio or TV, I've mentally ground my teeth till there's nothing left but gum.
Living Conditions sees Buffy continuing her mission to try and settle down into college life. While it's a smoother ride than her first days in The Freshman , her growing conflict with Kathy is still making college a bit of a chore. It seems that no matter how hard she tries,...

DVD special features. Ain't they great? Packed full of fun facts about the making of your favourite TV programme or movie, they're designed to add great value for money to our favourite shiny discs.
The problem is though, they're the equivalent of Toto pulling back the curtain on a huffing and puffing Wizard of Oz who's doing his level best to convince a motley crew of visitors that he's some awe-inspiring green overlord head of doom rather than a chubby bloke pressing down lots of pipes. The illusion's gone – much like the DVD special features which show the mundane process behind the end product. Look, there's a sweaty cameraman zooming in on the hero of the hour! Look, there's take number 39, with cast members pulling the face of a man chomping down on a wasp sandwich. Value for money is all well and good, but DVD extras are essentially the...

Grimm Episode 2.18 “Ring of Fire”
Written by: Jim Kouf & David Greenwalt
Directed by: David Grossman
Airs Friday 9.00pm Est on NBC
Grimm gets a promotion this week, moving from its Friday night ‘death slot’ to 10pm on Tuesday, after the cancellation of ‘Ready for Love’. The show has performed consistently well, hitting 5 million viewers, or thereabouts, every epsiode this season. With a strong fan base, NBC must be gambling that the move will open up the show to a new set of viewers, cunningly timing it as the pace picks up towards the season finale. This means that something pretty special is planned, something the creators want to dangle in front of a fresh crowd, to whet appetites for season 3.
Or so we can hope. Adelind’s Happy Event is one suitable candidate for this type of big finish. Now that the royal blood of her baby is confirmed, the...

Arrow, Season 1, Episode 7: “Muse of Fire”
Directed by David Grossman
Written by Geoff Johns and Marc Guggenheim
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm Et on The CW
Arrow lets loose another promising episode with its seventh outing of the series, this time directed by David Grossman with story by Andrew Kriesberg and teleplay by Geoff Johns and Marc Gugenheim. Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) investigates an attack that nearly claimed his mother’s life and in doing so, he crosses paths with Helena Bertinelli (Jessica De Gouw). Tommy and Dinah’s romance continues to blossom and later the identity of John Barrowman’s mysterious character is revealed.
“Muse of Fire” is tightly plotted with multiple story arcs interweaving and continues to re-enforce the main theme of the series: But the highlight of the episode came with the much anticipated introduction of The Huntress.
The Huntress here is somewhat different than in the comic.
