BERLIN -- MTV has sold German production subsidiary Brainpool TV to company founders Joerg Grabosch and Ralf Guenther.
The management buyout, announced Wednesday, had been expected.
Simon Guild, managing director of MTV Networks Europe said Brainpool's business profile of German-language comedy shows was not part of MTV's "long-term strategy" and that the two companies had reached "a fair solution" in their parting of ways.
No further details were revealed.
Guild added, however, that MTV will continue to produce local-language shows for its German networks, which include MTV, VIVA, Nickelodeon and, beginning next year, Comedy Central.
