Crisis on Infinite Earths is a three-part culmination of the Tomorrow-verse, which means that a lot of the characters that would appear in the trilogy would have made an appearance in previous installments of the shared universe. Not only was this a way to get fans excited about cameos and a connected universe, but it also allowed a brilliant cost-cutting strategy to take hold as a part of the production of the three films.

Butch Lukic talked to Animation Magazine about how the story was adapted, including the one thing that saved the three Crisis films from tanking their budget completely. Lukic opened up about what exactly the production cycle of the films did to cut costs by as much as they did.

In the 2022 miniseries, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hayden Christensen, and Ewan McGregor reunited on screen for the first time since 2005 when their iconic characters locked horns once again. The series which is part of George Lucas’ cult Star Wars franchise, is set years after the events in Revenge of the Sith, and brings the titular Jedi Master face to face with his arch nemesis Darth Vader.

Zack Snyder’s DC tenure is over, as it seems, but he is yet to move on from the glorious legacy he had forged in the DC universe. The director has somewhat given the studio an identity while creating his own universe as we know it as Snyderverse. Currently, Snyder is working with Netflix, but he would go back to DC in a heartbeat for one movie.

Right now, Snyder has been in a huge conflict with critics as his Rebel Moon franchise has been a critical bomb. Also, a Norse mythology-inspired animated series Twilight of the Gods from the director at Netflix recently got the first image, which revealed that he will be with Netflix for quite a while.

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

The year was 2013. With Marvel raking in billions at the box office with its interconnected superhero movies, it was time for DC to kick off its own extended universe. After all, Marvel had taken characters like Iron Man and Thor (both relatively obscure at the time) and Captain America (hopelessly old fashioned) and turned them into bone-fide sensations that led to 2012's The Avengers.
Zack Snyder led the charge on creating a DC Extended Universe, directing many of the franchise's films and producing most of the others.
But Zack Snyder's Dceu never did match the success of its rival franchise, and after a decade of faltering box office receipts and 'meh' reviews the whole thing came to an anticlimactic end with the 2023 flop Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Now the entire thing is getting rebooted. So what does Zack Snyder think of that?

Despite ‘Creature Commandos’ being released first, James Gunn revealed that he considers ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 as the true start of the Dcu. When the project was first announced we knew nothing about it save that Henry Cavill won’t be reprising his role as Clark Kent and that Gunn is looking for a younger Superman.
He however remained adamant that the movie won’t feature Superman’s origin story since it’s been done to death on-screen, and the live-action adaptations don’t need young Superman once more. He was also clear enough that he is not making a young ‘Superman’ movie, just a ‘Superman’ movie on his private profile on Threads.

Although ‘Creature Commandos’ came out first, James Gunn considers ‘Superman,’ slated for a 2025 release, as the true beginning of the Dcu. When the project was initially announced, little was known about it except that Henry Cavill wouldn’t reprise his role as Clark Kent, and Gunn was seeking a younger actor for Superman.
However, Gunn was firm in his stance that the film wouldn’t delve into Superman’s origin story, as it’s been extensively covered on-screen already, and he didn’t want to retread familiar ground. He clarified on his private profile on Threads that he’s not making a movie about a young Superman, but rather a Superman movie.
Now, it appears that Gunn has had a change of heart, as a recent casting call indicates they’re searching for young actors to portray Clark Kent. This suggests the possibility of flashbacks in the movie.

Back in 2023, Warner Bros. were gearing up for the release of one of the last movies to come out of the Dceu. The Flash, starring Ezra Miller in the lead, and directed by Andy Muschetti, had a lot hanging on its shoulders. The movie was supposed to be the vessel to reboot the Dceu to give way for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Dcu.

Though fans weren’t sold on Ezra Miller’s involvement after their various scandals came to light, the reviews coming from the who’s who of Hollywood had them holding on to hope. From Tom Cruise to Stephen King, many celebrities came in defense of the movie, lauding it as one of the best superhero movies ever made. Unfortunately, the movie’s reception was not what anyone had hoped, and The Flash ended up being one ofe the worst features from Dceu.

Zack Snyder’s early films proved him to be an interesting visionary who had a distinct style to his works. Grand visuals, the application of slow-mo sequences, and colorful imagery have been the main strengths and trademarks of a Snyder film. However, audiences have been divisive about his big screen DC films in the 2010s.
Zack Snyder’s DC tenure started with 2013’s Man of Steel
Considering the hit-or-miss nature of Snyder with audiences, the 2020s saw a big change in the director and where he puts his films. Starting from Army of the Dead, his films have only premiered on Netflix. This sudden downgrade from making big-budget studio films for the big screen to just releasing streaming films is surprising but a new report sheds light on how films are greenlit nowadays.

Move over, Sam and Dean Winchester, there are some new supernatural mystery solvers on the scene. The Dead Boy Detectives are taking over the ghost-hunting and demon-hunting duties on Netflix, and they're adding in British accents and the fact that they are dead themselves. Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland are DC comic book characters created by Neil Gaiman, but they have a lot more in common with the Winchesters than meets the eye.
To understand the Netflix take on Dead Boy Detectives, you have to first understand how the show arrived on the streamer in the first place. It was originally intended as a spin-off of Doom Patrol after Sebastian Croft and Ty Tennant portrayed the ghostly sleuthing duo in Season 3. Steve Yockey (Supernatural) was developing the series when Max dropped it because it didn't fit in with new DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran's vision for the DC cinematic universe.

In the 90 years since his creation, Superman has had many different versions. There have been many to stand out from these, for good and bad reasons. Perhaps one of the most controversial has to be Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, which is a darker version of the character. While many fans loved the fresher approach, there were many fundamental changes made that completely went against the character’s philosophy.

Let’s face it: The MCU has been in a rut and Ryan Reynolds has stepped into the pit of ruins with Deadpool & Wolverine, ready to turn the studio around into a Wrexham-style victory. As the honorary adoptive father of strays, losers, and underdogs, the fans are in no place to refuse the actor his benevolent decision to take up “Saving the MCU” as his next passion project.

The Dcau started off as a single animated series that eventually grew into the cinematic universe that we know today. Kevin Conroy, the legendary voice actor who voiced the role of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series, had a huge impact on the cinematic universe.
Dcau legend Alan Burnett, who has been the producer of almost every DC animated production ever, feels the same way. Talking about the future of the animated universe, especially with the upcoming movies, Burnett and screenwriter Paul Dini couldn’t help but award Conroy with praises and love.

With the Dceu undergoing a reboot, Gunn’s & Safran’s Dcu is poised to take center stage, revamping many of the stories and characters. While ‘Creature Commandos’ kicks off ‘Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters,’ the director sees ‘Superman,’ slated for release in 2025, as the true beginning of the Dcu.
Fans were disappointed by the news that Henry Cavill wouldn’t return as Superman. However, it was later announced that David Corenswet would take on the role, as Gunn envisioned a younger Superman for his cinematic universe.

Zack Snyder had his own unique approach to making his DC movies that created the very essence of the Snyderverse. Of course, the director has often found himself amid several criticisms throughout his tenure at DC, but he is also known for the defense of his vision.

Snyder’s DC tenure ended after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the studio. Still, the director has been very protective of his philosophy— often casting the inherent darkness on the characters. Particularly, putting them into a pit of moral dilemma.

David Corenswet is our new Man of Steel, but before landing the leading role in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, he had auditioned for the role of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, at least, that was the rumour.
Responding to a fan on Threads, Gunn confirmed that Corenset did indeed audition for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but admitted that he doesn’t actually recall it. “I asked him about it and he said he did so I believe him, but I don’t remember it,” Gunn said. The fan also asked if Superman’s flying scenes in the new movie might be similar to Adam Warlock’s flying scenes from Guardians 3. “No, what we’re doing now for flying is much more complex than what was done for [Adam Warlock],” Gunn responded.

Zack Snyder has been a hot and cold figure in the DC fandom. Even though he has been regarded as one of the most talented filmmakers to have even been part of the franchise, his approach towards certain characters raised several eyebrows during his time working in the universe. He made several fundamental changes to certain characters that completely went against their moral code.
Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel
The best example would be the fact that Ben Affleck’s Batman killed 30 people in the SnyderVerse. In almost every version of the character, the no-killing rule has been the only separation between the Caped Crusader and the villains he fights. Another perfect example would be that of Superman.

Justice League was one of those shows that really dived deep into DC lore, pulling characters from across its run, all the way from the golden age to the modern run of comics. This requires some changes to be made to the characters to make them more appropriate for the animated run.
Justice League Unlimited
The show introduced a myriad of villains, some of which were very deep cuts from the comics. Of course, some of them were the most popular during their respective runs, when sensibilities towards creating characters were different. So, when Eclipso was supposed to be introduced in the show, Bruce Timm decided that the character needed a little updating.

Zack Snyder made fans very happy when he announced that he is very much interested in finishing his Justice League trilogy. After his tumultuous experience with the 2017 film and the long-overdue Snyder Cut, the filmmaker is now ready to tackle the matter.

As Warner Bros is very strict with the rights of DC characters, the director would have to be very creative.

Last year, Gunn and Safran introduced new plans for the “Dcu,” a cinematic universe intended to replace and reboot the Dceu. The initial phase, dubbed ‘Gods & Monsters,’ encompasses animated projects and live-action shows set in Themyscira long before Wonder Woman’s era.
Although the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’ debuted first, the true kickoff of the Dcu will be ‘Superman,’ a live-action film centering on a younger Superman, effectively supplanting Cavill’s established Man of Steel. While the movie is still far from release, we’ve gathered available information in this comprehensive guide. Let’s dive in!

The trailer for Deadpool & Wolverne’s second trailer was just posted hours ago by Ryan Reynolds. Although this might be the pretty first time that a trailer for a trailer has been released, fans are hardly surprised since it is Reynolds we are talking about. As the less than 40-second clip went viral, so did Reynolds’s sweet caption with it.

When you spend months upon months – even years upon years – developing a story, filming the screenplay, promoting the movie endlessly, and finally releasing it to the public, there is a special connection that is hard to put words to. But when you’re done, many filmmakers believe the movie is really no longer theirs (unless you’re releasing a director’s cut…). But imagine somebody else taking that ball and running with it. This is something that inevitably happens with comic book movies, as we’ve seen cycles and waves where characters and franchises will be rebooted. But Zack Snyder has been quite humble about it, even offering words of support to James Gunn ahead of his own Superman.

For many fans, Bruce Timm’s Dcau gave the most definitive version of Batman. Matt Reeves’ The Batman took inspiration from Timm’s dark and gritty tone of the character in Batman: The Animated Series. Timm proved that he could develop feature-length animated movies, debuting with the Batman movie, Mask of the Phantasm. However, Timm never once got the call from DC or WB to create a live-action Batman film.

James Gunn has been busy directing the first chapter of the new Dcu i.e. Superman (formerly Superman: Legacy). He is also simultaneously directing some episodes of Peacemaker season 2 and is handling all the grunt work that comes with being the co-chief of the new DC Studios.
It seems like part of the grunt work includes answering for the past projects of the Dcu (then the Dceu). Few modern blockbuster filmmakers draw as sharply divided reactions from critics and general audiences as Zack Snyder. For every review that praises Snyder’s remarkable ability to create grand, fantastical visual imagery on film, there will be another review criticizing the filmmaker’s overreliance on slow motion and weak plot points. Let us take a look at Snyder’s filmography, and the critical reaction to his works as determined by Rotten Tomatoes.
Dawn of the Dead (2004), Tomatometer: 76% Zombies attack in Dawn of the Dead
Zack Snyder‘s maiden effort as a director remains his most critically successful venture. The slick, visually compelling action scenes coupled with a strong screenplay by James Gunn help elevate the film above your run-of-the-mill horror remakes.
