He was a writer and actor, known for Faust (1926), Rose Bernd (1919) and Die Weber (1927). He was married to Margarete Marschalk and Marie Thienemann. He died on June 6, 1946 in Jagniatków, Jelenia Góra, Dolnoslaskie, Poland.
